Awesome video!! The action of weldon 4 is called capillary action.
@TheirWorldAquatics
@TheirWorldAquatics 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and following along!!! You are correct. It is a molecular Bond as they are welded together. In all reality the weld itself is stronger than the acrylic.

@@TheirWorldAquatics I'm in the process of building my own aquarium right now and I'm using weldon 4 and I got 1/2-in cast acrylic. I was wondering do I need to do the pin method or can I just use the capillary action on half inch without the pins? It's a 6 ft 180 gallon 24"×24×72

@@TheirWorldAquatics can you tell me if I need to use the pin method with 1/2-in acrylic or can I just glue it without using pins? Thanks!

Good choice on removing that center overflow, so much better with the corner overflow. 4.5/5.0 (had to deduct 1/2 star out of respect for Randall Mario Poffo aka Randy The Macho Man Savage) I got to have my Ooohhhhh Yyyyeeeaaaahhhh's 🙂

Thank you for great information, what's the next step after you glued the two walls? now for the next two walls you have two contacts areas (the bottom board and two edges of the two walls that been glued two the bottom board). So, what's the next step? If you make the same process how you gluing the edges? You can't push wires because you don't have any gap close to the bottom area. Can you make a fast video for the overall process please, or explain the next step? Thank you very much 🙏

Hello. Great video. I have a couple questions though. I am going to build an aquarium 24" tall 48" x48" square. I am using 3/4" cast acrylic. It has a plywood bottom. I want it to be rimless. I am told to use weld on 42, but would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Thanks for watching and following along Nathen!!! Because you're only going 24 inches in height, I think you could get away with WELD-ON 16. They make a lot of different products and I would encourage you to read up on all options.Best of luck, will look great upon completion.

Love it ! I subscribed ! Thanks. I have just purchased a 1.5 inch cylinder 88 inches tall 35 inch diameter that needs a botton installed. I got it with open ends and needs a bottom glued on, Is this something you can help me with too? .

Thank you for watching and following along!!! It's my understanding that ACYRLIC creations have closed after many years in the industry. You Might be able to Google tank manufacturer companies that are closest to you.

Hi, How long the welding lasts, compared to glass aquarium made with silicon. For additional increase of life can half inch glass be used using the welding glue, and then to add silicon on the glass to cover all the welded edges to increase the life span of acrylic welding.
@TheirWorldAquatics
@TheirWorldAquatics Год назад
Thanks for watching and following along! When welding acrylic, for the most part that should be good for life, the weld itself is stronger than the acrylic. On your second question it is not common to use glass within an acrylic aquarium. Gluing glass is not the same as welding acrylic, they are not to be mixed.

@@TheirWorldAquatics Thank you for the information, it surely was helpful. To my understanding by what you said Acrylic aquarium should last longer without leakage compared to acrylic Aquarium. 👀👍
@PlatinNr1
@PlatinNr1 10 месяцев назад
while welding the parts of acrylic together they merge with each other which makes the whole tank basically one part of acrylic. if done correctly it cant leak because there is no gab inbetween the joints and no weak spot in contrast to the silicon on a glastank which can lose liability and make the glastank leak.

Which glue is best for 1 inch acrylic sheets? not for aquarium, for furniture.

Curious as to why acrylic doesn't need the bottom and top rims that glass have?
@TheirWorldAquatics
@TheirWorldAquatics Год назад
Thanks for watching and following along! Not sure what you mean by the top and bottom not being needed for acrylic? Most tanks do have bracing on top and bottom. Based on the thickness of the acrylic, you might be able to get away with this, but glass deflecting can only go so far, and this is why you see Euro bracing.

plenty of glass aquariums have no rims, they are called rimless glass aquariums. those can be built up to a couple hundred gallons or so.

how on earth is it even possible to do this as a business.... I would have nightmares about a customer refusing delivery of a tank because of some small or inconsequential cosmetic flaw on some huge aquarium....
