This video was very helpful! What works for me is to use cheaper ingredients for what I eat more often or in larger quantities. So peanuts instead of almonds (peanut milk instead of almond milk etc), raisins instead of dates (works on most recipes!) and that kind of thing. I also try to buy what's in season then freeze some to have when they're not in season anymore haha. Making tofu at home also saves a lot of money and is quite simple, definitely worth the effort if you eat it often.

We found this video very informative. Thank you for showing the process of making almond milk.. it looks rather simple! It's so important for people to have resources like this video to go to when they are on a budget because it seems like a lot of people that are transitioning to veganism don't think that they can do it in a cheap way, so this video is much appreciated! We tried doing the "on a budget" aspect, but it's been more reasonable for us to explain our channel with the idea that we have a hilarious twist, as opposed to keeping things within a budget. It looks like many people are already benefiting greatly from this, so from one fellow vegan to another... thank you for doing what you do!!! 😍

Bulk stores are the best. I buy my nuts, seeds, oats, spices, almost everything there. I also started buying rice there. For produce I go to the farmers market or local shop, depending on how much time I have. I also buy a lot of frozen vegetables and fruits in frozen product store (spinach, berries and different mixes). I also make a meal plan for the week so I only buy things that I will eat and nothing goes to waste :) I wanted to start making my own plant milk (for coffee), so this recipe come in really handy 😄

twilight Definitely not a starvation diet. Because of my height and weight, I need like 1500 calories a day. Cheap veganism aside, there are tons of junk food that I eat too. Annie’s vegan Mac and cheese, their cinnamon rolls (made them this morning). Morning star finally made their corn dogs vegan so that’s also on the menu. Kroger has vegan cookies too. You can’t expect a plant based diet to work for you if you don’t put in the effort. You get out what you put into it.

It's very cheap and easy to be vegan in Russia (mostly in big cities like Moscow or Sankt-Petersburg). Our culture historical based on different grains: buckwheat, oats, millet, rice, barley, wheat. You can find it everywhere here and it'll coast cheaper than bubblegum. If you decide to save your money, there are always lots of seasonal veg. and fruits with low prices (berries in summer, apples/pumpkins/persimmons in autumn, citruses in winter). Moreover, there is many vegetables, which a low cost every time of year, like cabbage, potato, onion, carrot and etc. For example, 1 kg (2,2 lbs ) of carrots is 15 rub (0,17 Euro), beets and potatoes cost about the same. Also you can go into the forest in summer and get lots of free mushrooms and berries, frost them and eat in winter. I'm actually wonder, why not all russians are vegan. My family is and we are sure that it's better for you and cheaper, than traditional food. Moreover, there are lots of vegan fast/ junk food too, as there are very expensive exotic fruits. Everything depends on you. You can be vegan everywhere, if you want. Good luck!

There is a store in a city nearby my town that sells near or just past the sell by date foods at a deep discount and, while not strictly vegan or low waste, is a great alternative store to help prevent excess food waste for people who understand what a sell by date is and aren't weirded out by the idea of eating past the sell by date. I don't get to shop there but someone I know has shared pasta sauces, fancy mustards, pickled items and other pantry goods and all were perfectly good. I wish more places sold things at a discount like that while reducing waste.

It really can be if you eat boring ol' whole foods like whole grains, beans, potatos, and frozen on in season and on sale produce. And SEASONINGS! Flavoring your food without meats and fats is super important. Spices, herbs, vinegars/acids like lemon juice, etc.

If you want to eat vegan and as versatile as a carnivore (even without superfoods) it is definitely too expensive for working poor class. Ignoring the fact that eating a balanced and yet satisfying vegan diet is a privilege is one of the biggest issues in the vegan community. Of course it’s not the most expensive in the world and you can manage if you are on a tight budget for some time. But it’s a difference to be on a budget or to live poor. I lived in Berlin too and enjoyed the great fruit deals the markets have- but that’s Berlin. You can’t have that on many other city’s or areas.

Do you have or could you do something like a “first week as a vegan” video or series, something like that. Have a “your first grocery shop as a vegan” with a trip to the store and a list of what to buy. Milk, butter, and other alternatives to get first. Also maybe a video about chai, flax, and hemp seeds, why we need them, and what they are used for.Nutritional yeast too. Some safe, easy to prepare foods. Plus seasonings because I feel like vegans often use different types of seasoning than meat eaters. Then maybe a second follow up “your first week of meals as a vegan” with a weeks worth of recipes. You could also include in the series what action you immediately took that first week you went vegan. Did you clean out your cupboard of all animal products, or did you finish what you already had? Basically a series of videos that tell me step by step what to do that first week because I feel like it’s the getting started that seems impossible, especially if you’re not a great cook. Because I am not!

what you said in the video is totally true. I agree with you that eating plant based food on budget is not that difficult, fancy stuffs are just optional. But sometimes I think what is truly tricky is to find a way to eat things that are filling enough, at least this is a problem that I’ve been dealing with. Carbs (even pasta or rice) are just too ‘easy’ to digest, of course veggies that have more fibres take more time to digest but counting on fresh produce is not that efficient and easily manageable in my personal opinion. And I really hate cooking legumes😂..... Anyway loved the video as usual👍

I'm from India and most of the population is already vegetarian here but going vegan is a little difficult as it's really it's not easy to make your family understand that *Why I don't drink milk , buttermilk or eat cottage cheese , curd , ghee , Honey.*

Erdbaer Torte yes!! during my childhood days, my grandpa always used to make avocado “ice cream” which is just scooped avocados mixed with powdered milk and sugar then freezed for a couple of hours. of course i have to veganize it now but it’s such a yummy treat 💚

for any americans reading the comments: I go to Aldi's to buy food because I often find they have good selections of produce and food items I regularly eat for a fair, sometimes cheap, price.

I make simple meals and granted, not everybody will enjoy it but I am completely happy with it. In addition, I'm on a stricter form of vegan called whole food-plant based and lowered my LDL bad cholesterol from 120, elevated risk of heart attack, to 65, ideal and virtually heart attack proof, in just a few weeks. Whole wheat pasta (great value, $1 for 16 ounce box) Tomato sauce (walmart brand: 29 ounces, a little high in sodium but otherwise ok) Bread: whole wheat flour (5 pounds about $3.48) Sugar: super cheap: < $2 for a giant bag; I don't use much Spinach: $1.54 for 10 ounces: I eat 5 ounces a day on average. Bananas: pretty cheap anywhere: as a snack, and I eat a few thoughout the day. Tea: $2 tops for 100 bags. I use 2 bags per cup, and up to 7 cups a day. Still, cheap overall. Yeast: About $3.80 for enough for bread and it comes out very inexpensive per day. Garlic powder. I use about 3 grams per loaf of bread, 1 loaf a day (albeit a large loaf). Spinach is by far the most important for health. The expense is worth it most certainly. If you choose just one of my foods, or all, up to you. I hope you get ideas.

Are u you out of your mind? Cholesterol doesnt mean shit. Triglycerides and VLDL are far more important. When you lower you cholesterol you lower your hormone production as cholesterol is a hormone precursor

I make porridge in the morning with all the seeds and all the nuts and all the berries. For lunch I have seed-tortillas with a sauce made of veggies, all spices and all lentils and beans. After sports I just have a hummus-veggie sandwich. That's pretty much every day. I'm yet to grow tired of it

Sounds like you poop 3 times a day... You cant digest all of this crap. Your body will just get to the sugar to get some sort of energy from it..

Try red kidney beans with thick gravy served with rice. It is one of the most famous and delicious of dishes cooked in all Northern Indian households. You can check the recipe on the internet. I think it would be economical. Thanks for treating animals with compassion and love.

I'm in Australia, and right now its so expensive for fresh fruit and vegetables. I'm vegan and a student. So its defiantly budget shopping for me lmao. But buy in bulk. I always shop at a market cause its cheaper. :-)
