I had a box grip up until sophomore year in high school. Had my high school coach teach me the door knocking grip. Felt weird for awhile but once I got use to it I loved it. Been hitting that way for baseball/softball for the last 20 years.

This is all true because I use the box grip which causes me to role my wrists and not get in to a solid extension. I’m 13 and I thought the door knocking knuckles was uncomfortable.

Second knuckle or as you said door knocking knuckles is what I have taught and was shown, I understand your frustration with having your back elbow up with the second knuckles lined up it does feel like you almost have to push the barrel down to be more comfortable.I have taught back elbow down in an upside down V position from elbow to elbow pushing the hands back slightly almost a pre load position with knob to the catcher.This allows you to slot your back elbow in earlier keeping your bat on plain with the ball.Personally I do not like the box position with the hands as your timing must be perfect and you tend as you said to roll over earlier.The bat sitting in the second knuckle position on both hands is a much stronger position in your hands. I know players that hang their pinky off the knob with bottom hand, and pinky of top hand on bottom hand,? It is said to create more whip, Also what about aids for grip? Like the one that goes on the top thumb and a half ball sits inside the area between thumb and index finger it forces you to keep bat in fingers, Another one is what about triggers or a grooved pistol like knob cover? Do these help at all? I have hit 2 balls off the fence already 3 games in this year just from watching you. Thanks, I lack that last 15-20 feet

Alll kids should start with knocking knuckles. As they get older the knuckles un-align. Similar to squashing a bug then going to pivot. Any kid who can hit consistently with the box grip should be allowed to do so. But it all has to start with the knocking knuckles.

I have a batting coach and he told me to line up knocking on the door knuckles to get hood power

When ever I swing my foot slides forward but it doesn’t come off the ground so I don’t think that’s good I’ve been told it’s not good but I don’t know what my weight transfer should really be like any tips ?

The box grip is the only grip to hold a bat with the bottom hand rigid, tight. As you load the top hand pivots to a more door knocking grip, as you swing the grip goes back to a box grip until part way through the top rotates to a door knocking grip as they palms are opposite up and down. A box grip is a natural grip when holding the bat stationary.

This is exactly how I hold my bat...tend to roll over with box grip.

Let me preface this by saying I am in no way, shape or form an expert at the game of baseball, but personally I always hit,being a Right Handed Batter, with my top hands "knock knuckles" aligned with my bottom hands primary or what I call punch knuckles. Is that wierd??

My coach keeps telling me to use the door knockers grip and I find it uncomfortable and awkward as hell. He said I’ll do laps if I use any other grip so I’m in a bad position

Dude, your front shoulder continues in its rotation therefore the loop in the box grip is caused if u dont continue that rotational path

Door knockers aligned is absolutely the most ridiculous advice I’ve ever heard people give batters.

Was debating on getting a pro hitter but after seeing this video I realized I’ve been holding the bay right all along and thought a pro hitter is gonna be useless to me

Why would you even mention the box grip ?? Line up the door knockers or just a bit off sett very very very few batters can use the box grip
