Glad I found this video. Was pretty inconsistent and was barely poking the ball over the fence. Since implementing I’ve added at least 100 ft to my best swings.
Alan nice video and you are spot on on your analysis i have used this modified grip for over 30 years and find it most of all (comfortable) which is most important. As for the control aspect the control really comes from the bottom and the top hand really is just along for the ride and the top spin is almost guaranteed.
Since my modified days swinging 32-36 oz bats I have been using a full overlap grip. It just feels more natural. I just ordered my firs worth since the original Mutant 98. Hope it feels as good as my eastons have.
Nice vids. My only thing is with the overlapping grib or your modified grib the reason it feels weird and you don't have enough control is you are using the top hand to turn over.. the over lap grip and pinky off are designed to swing all bottom hand. . No roll over at all. Or much use of the top hand. All wip from the bat
Great video! Thanks for the tips. I've always felt more accuracy with the one finger overlap modified grip, and slightly more power with both of my hands fully on the bat. Is this normally the case?? Sorry, I'm an amateur and about to start my softball league lol
I bat cross handed, left hand is above the right, it’s how I have always batted naturally. Try it sometime and you will see you have alot more speed and your right hand flows with no jerk
I am a right hander and I usually grip the bat with my right pointer finger interlocking with my left pinky finger with my right hand on top and left at bottom of course but is this a good way to grip the bat?
Brandon, If that’s comfortable to you and isn’t interfering with your hands / wrists snapping through the ball at impact there is no resonance that you cannot use that grip style.
Does the knob of the bat torque the hell out of your bottom hand palm after your swing when you take some fingers off? That’s the issue I’m having with removing the bottom hand. The knob will twist and bruise my inner knuckles on the follow through.
Generally it does not. Don’t over grip the bat but consider a SLIGHTLY firmer bottom hand grip and possibly some slightly thicker batting gloves. My Team 1 gloves are thick enough to resist this but still give good feeling on the bat.
Thats why it's more comfortable for me, from learning golf before baseball I think. But I feel like it's slightly more accurate and slightly less powerful
Don't understand what your problem is Scott Dangel, the videos are just fine from where I'm watching. Really don't appreciate your comment to Mr. T, it was rude and uncalled for. But typical of an internet troll.........
