I bought the K9 BlowDryer for my Saint Bernard and it has been a LIFE saver! We go out often! And she's not afraid of getting wet and dirty! This makes drying her off so quick and effortless! She always looks as if she got back from the groomer because of this dryer.thank you so much! I use the flatnose nozzle!!

Hey Stacey! You have done a wonderful video. I have never used a hair dryer for my cat. But I wanted to have one , it's so expensive . Now that I have collected some amount. Thinking to have one and came across your video and it really feels happy to watch grooming the dog 🐕😍🥰

Dead hair? All hair is dead skin cells. Do you mean hair that's already shedded? As in, hair that's no longer attached with a hair follicle?

Hi Stacy! Thank you for the videos. I’m learning so much about what this breed needs. Our first Berner passed in November and we welcomed home a new Berner puppy in January. He is 12 weeks old and we love him to pieces. I did get a table and k9 dryer this time around. I’ve been putting him on the table everyday for a few minutes and am giving him lots of treats while introducing him to the brushes and combs. We’ve done the dryer after a bath on low with treats twice now, but I do think he’s scared. Any tips on getting him used to the table and dryer in general? I’m guessing we just need to keep at it but I don’t want to make him a nervous dog! He leans into me when being dried and would probably fall off the table if I wasn’t there. The noose helps a little but I’m using my body to keep him centered. He “recovers” immediately when he’s done getting dried- happy and active so I think we’re ok but wanted to get your tips. Also, I’m trying to get him used to getting up on the table using some plastic stairs... any tips on the best way to ensure they can get up there when they are full grown? Thanks for your help!

You are doing all the right things. With lots of treats and consistency they do get comfortable with it. The learning curve with puppies is sharp, he will get to love it if you give special attention and treats on the table :)

Do you know how to make the fur fluffy? I’ve tried to fluff it with my hairdryer, but her fur looked pretty much as normal. Do you have any advice? 😊
@SitStaywithStacySlade
@SitStaywithStacySlade 5 лет назад
Yes, if you give a full bath and then use a forced air dog dryer you will get them fluffy when they are in coat. A regular hair dryer does not work and actually is WAY too hot for a dog. But they have to be completely wet to get the fluffy look when using a dog dryer. Good luck!

I used to, however regular grooming with a forced air dryer and brushing the hair toward the butt over and over until 100% dry. It takes a lot of patience and continual training the hair but it works. Also, as they get older the hair can relax a bit.

Hi Stacy, your Berners are gorgeous! I got a blower because I plan on grooming a lot myself, live in an area where there aren’t a lot of groomers...like maybe 1 or 2, anyway...I was training my Bernese Roman around the blower,..he is now 13 weeks today, all was going GOOD....he would take treats with the blower running from my hand and on top of the blower, even had the wind blowing on him without the hose ...then intro the hose all good still, even was blowing air on him. THEN, turned the blower on yesterday, forgot about the hose and it was snaking all over the floor and scared the shit out of him, now he won’t even walk by it sitting on the floor whether it’s running or not....now what do I do?.
@SitStaywithStacySlade
@SitStaywithStacySlade 3 года назад
I would go back to ground zero. Put it in the house so everyone walks buy it don’t turn it on. Then after two weeks of it being part of the house then turn it on for about a minute so he can hear it. Then work with treats near it and throw treats near it and let him get them on his own (maybe do that before turning it on). Work your way back up to him trusting you and subsequently the dryer. Always use treats.
@TheLablover3
@TheLablover3 3 года назад
@@SitStaywithStacySlade ok it is in the house and just sits on the floor...he needs a bath?? Should I use a hair dryer then?
@SitStaywithStacySlade
@SitStaywithStacySlade 3 года назад
@@TheLablover3 When was his last bath? I would feed him in eyesight of it and leave treats near it. This will take a few weeks. You could wash him and towel dry.
@SitStaywithStacySlade
@SitStaywithStacySlade 3 года назад
@@TheLablover3 Sure, that is a good interim but make sure he doesn't get too hot. towel him as much as possible before hand.

Hi Stacy! What should I think of when I'm going to buy a dryer for a Bernese mountain dog? Airflow, temperature settings, cold air and other features? What should I think of when drying the paws with a dryer? The dog I care fore have problems with her paws and need medical pawbaths several times a week and I need to get the paws nice and dry so the problem doese'nt get worse. I would really appreciate your input! Thank you so much for all your informative videos!

I love the K9 II or III. The Chris Christensen models are good too. Realistically, most dog dryers will do the trick, with exception to the smaller dryers (metro) that just don't have enough "umpfh".

Is your dryer heated? I had a berner and am hoping for a puppy in the fall so I want to get prepared. With my other berner I blew up 5 hairdryers!
@SitStaywithStacySlade
@SitStaywithStacySlade 4 года назад
The K9 dryers don't heat, but as the motor warms up the air gets a little warmer. But you really don't want to use a hair dryer as they are too hot for a Berner and don't have near the power needed.

You have to start very young, have lots of treats and keep it away from their head and do it every month. Just like everything else they need to learn with positive training.

@SitStaywithStacySlade

Most of the forced air dryers are not heated, they generate a little heat from the motor. I don't recommend heat as they will overheat a Berner. I use my K9II which has two motor and unless a puppy I use both motors. Some dogs struggle with their head being dried so I go down to one motor. Hope this helps!
