You don't have to wait till it dries. I just put it in the sink and scrub it around the sides and edge, then cut the side open with a knife, then pull it apart and take the seed out. All done in a few minutes. : ) Put it in some water and it'll sprout, then put in a pot. I have 4 little trees growing in pots outside.

So I don’t understand one thing, how is it that a grafted tree automatically bears fruit so quick? Is it because you transplant part of an already mature tree onto a young one and the new branch “thinks it’s already gone through the full growth cycle” and is ready to bear fruit?

I'm 1 for 8 in propagating mango seeds, but the 1 that survived is 10 months old and only 4 inches tall. I had it in the shade with a burlap blind to keep it from getting sun burn. My mom moved it out into direct sun and removed the blind because she said it needs sun light to grow. That was 3 months ago. The new leaves that were starting to grow out of the top just dried out and 1 of the 4 older leaves just turned a dark rust color and fell off. So now it's just has 3 leaves without any new ones growing and it hasn't changed as far as growing any large in the past few months. I'm pretty sure it's not going to make it just like the other mango plants that my mom insisted needed direct sunlight.
@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms 4 года назад

Sun burn. Just like you'd get. Funny. I have to pick up all the fallen fruit. It will all take root. By the way. If you hadn't checked my remarks above, your seed is NOT true to the mother plant. It will need to be grafted. Otherwise fruiting will be limited and the fruit will be stringy and taste foul. However, a mango is ridiculously easy to graft.

I don't live in a tropical area although it can get pretty warm during the summer. I don't think a mango tree would survive in our climate, especially during the winter. Kinda depends. There are over 3k varieties of mango. Mangoes are to be kept no higher than 10-15 feet...access to fruit and falling fruit danger. I have to cut nearly ten feet off per year. Left to their own a mauritius mango will grow to 70 ft. in central Florida.

Mangoes are not true to seed. The fruit will be weak, fibrous and taste of turpentine. Not to fret, though. They are easily grafted. Keep your plant, after a year, take a cutting from another mango. They are way easy to graft, but it is necessary. All that stuff with the seed is odd. I have to be sure to pick up all the fallen fruit here in central Florida. It will all sprout.

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms My figs are filling out. Loquats are done. Lychee is just ripening, no bananas yet, lemon and lime are fruiting. Tomatoes are in full bloom, peppers, scallions, and bush beans finishing. Herbs, thyme,sage, basil are doing fine, ginger is grown in the ground, as is rosemary. Oh, I forgot I have over a hundred pineapples...about twenty in fruit, so far. We can't do too very much gardening starting in June...too hot. I enjoyed your video.

@@rkujay I love all the different areas people are from....the planting times and available crops are so radically different, even if the concepts stay the same! Right on Richard!

No no, definitely not. No plants wants water every day unless its an aquatic one! Once established into a young tree, I water mine once a month!
