Mmm, carrots! I grow a lot of them. Spring into summer, then fall into winter. Winter carrots are definitely the best. Colder temps cause the root to convert to starches into sugars, which makes winter carrots super sweet. 😋 Red Core Chantenay is a solid choice. 👍 I grow these every year, and they're always great. My new favorite, however, is Sugarsnax 54. OMG! They're so sweet they're literally like carrot candy, and the carrots. Carrot pro-tip: Plant onions in between your rows of carrots. Whether you're going for an onion crop or not is irrelevant...you just want some onions to be there. Carrots & onions are perfect companion crops. Carrot flies hate onions, so if you intermingle some onion seeds your carrots won't have any of those nasty little holes drilled through them.

In the south we plant our carrots in the fall and harvest in the spring.

I’m in Maryland and last year I planted carrots in pots and left them all winter and believe it or not, I pulled them in the spring and they were great!👍🏻

I have carrots, radishes and beets going. I am a little wary about them fully developing because the soil mix I'm using has larger pieces of woodchips than I would like :/ This is my first time growing my own food and I'm in a different zone in the US so fingers crossed.

I don't grow root vegetables in smart pots anymore. I think the plastic pots grow root veggies better I think it's because of the water.

Can you plant carrots in october and harvest them the following year. Feb March. April etc

Here on the east coast. Virginia. Can you plant carrots twice in season or can you plant a few every other week for continuation.

I tried carrots in pots for 1st time last year. There were extra little, but i still had yummy carrots in all different colors. And I learned a lot!! So i found a website that consolidates gardening research.... And you can get away with mini carrots in 2 gal pots, but you need 12" depth & good spacing. Just an fyi.
