My grandfather had what he called a charity dairy. He milked 3 cows every day even up until his 80’s and gave almost all of it away. I now live in his house and I follow a similar tradition by having a charity garden. I don’t say that to brag I say it because it’s so rewarding first to see the plants go from seed to maturity and second to give it to someone that can really use it. I don’t know which of the two I enjoy the most

These are the largest collards I have ever seen in my life, these things must be about 2ft tall. I'm making my first attempt at growing them, doubt if they will be as big as these, I'll have to get myself some of these Morris Head collards. Thanks for the tips about the frost, I have yet to taste a collard that was sweet, even a little bit.

Now that is the type of collards I usually grow every year. I don't like Georgia collards as much but I do prefer Vates variety, cabbage collard, and morris heading. I grew 50 of the Morris heading variety Collards last year and just 1 of the plants got so big, it nearly covered the grill of my Peterbilt truck.

I do with kale what you do with collard greens. They must be related. I've never grown collards, but kale up north is fantastic around October once a good frost sets in. Brussels and kale get sweeter with frost and a touch of snow makes kale super good!
