I grew up with grapefruit, lemon, and orange trees in my yard in Arizona. They only got flood irrigation (once a month?) and never any fertilizer. They did great for DECADES!

Thanks for the tips and let me give you one back, mulch after fertilizing. The sun burns off the nitrogen so to keep it in the ground, you need to cover it

Just had my first grapefruit from my dwarf ruby red. Absolutely delicious. I haven't tried the Vigoro citrus fertilizer yet. Thank you for the video. I'm going to run out and grab some of it and see how it fares compared to some of the other brands.

Very nice! Beautiful tree!!! Where are you located? Or water every day when it does not rain. In NW Central FL. Fertilizer is good. Look at the cost of savings per fruit!! You are investing into food cost over years so yes, it is worth it. Makes a huge difference.

Put some paprika water on the tree and the fruits will grow better

I'm sooo doggon jealous right now! I wish I had a citrus tree in my backyard. It's all good though. I have a friend who has this huge, juicy lemon tree so whenever I get low on lemons, I just swing by and _geta_ pickin' and pluckin'. I just bought some melogolds and they simply don't compare to standard grapefruits. A lil' chili powder made them taste pretty good.

What kind of grapefruit is it? I lost my Rio Red grapefruit in the Texas freeze last month. The rootstock is still alive and sprouting, though. So I would like to get cuttings to graft onto it. Do you offer cuttings if it is a Rio Red?

I am not sure. I think it would be wise to try to get one from a local nursery though. They would know what’s best to help you out.

I want to plant some citrus trees in my back yard but my home will be a rental in the coming years. Will it produce if I’m not here watering and caring for it as I can not rely on renters to do that???

Can you please tell me the components of the Citrus soil mix ? We don't get such mixes in India. I can make my own if you tell me the constituents of your soil. I just got myself a Flame Grapefruit plant. I don't know how to prepare the soil. Kindly, help. All the best wishes from India 🇮🇳

The main components in a good citrus fertilizer are most importantly lots of Nitrogen as well as magnesium and zinc

Using normal soil should be fine as long as you use fertilizer every 1-3 months

@@5thovertime Thank You so much for responding. Well, I'm thinking of growing many varieties of citrus over my grapefruit plant. I'll graft kafir lime, Washington Navel, Blood Orange over it as well. I've seen many people graft various types of citrus over one rootstock. I'm so excited.

which variety of grapefruit would grow in the tropics (humid climate) and how far away from your house should you plant such a tree? Always worried about root spread and our house foundations! Thanks!
