I'm glad it's useful to you. It's not difficult to grow huchera from seeds. You can sow them indoors on the windowsill in autumn and they will be big enough to plant out in late spring.
Thank you for this video! I had no idea you could sow these inside so early! I cold sowed heucheras this year for the first time and they are still TINY, so we’ll see if they grow a bit bigger after giving them each a pot of their own because I really want them to survive our cold Swedish winter.🌱🌸
WHen you put them in the seed trays did you thin them out to fewer plants and then when potting them up, to a single plant, or are they best in multiples?
I think I commented on your scotch bonnet video ? Either way I'm very interested in growing Huechera plants here in the UK....if you are the same lady I think you live London way. Did you use fridge stratification first ?
Hi. Yes, you did. Huchera is easy to start from seeds. I collected seeds from my own plants and sow them on the surface of multipurpose compost mixed with perlite. They germinate easily. No, I didn't use fridge stratification.
@@Ji-pa-ta-garden Hi Sorry about all the questions Please remember I'm a novice gardener. When should I start the seeds off ?? I'm just waiting for some seeds to arrive in the post any day now.
@Mark Rossell Hi. I personally think you can sow them all year round. I used to sow them in autumn and winter. If you start them early, they will grow big enough to plant outside in late spring or summer. If you sow seeds now or next month indoors, they will germinate fast. Now we have more daylight plus it's warm indoors. Hope this helps. Good luck!
