I just started another bowl of soybeans to sprout, following your instructions of course! I have a pot of potato jjageuli simmering and some fresh rice and I can't wait to eat! I feel like Korean food is my soul food for some odd reason. It just warms my body and soul. As I think about it a memory popped up out of nowhere, that I haven't thought of in decades....my father was in the armed services and stationed in south Korea during the Korean war. As a child I remember him trying to teach me Korean, as he had befriended many Koreans in his time there. The only word I can remember, (I was only 4!) was the 1st word he taught me..kamsahamnida!! Isn't that funny that, that one memory surfaced?! Thank you for all of your wonderful videos and knowledge!
Started my soybean sprout project 3 days ago... They've sprouted about 1/2 an inch for now... I'm learning patience too along with how nature works. I can't wait to see my sprouts all grown up with long legs like Miss. Korea ! Thank you for this video Maangchi.
This is my favorite vegetable, never knew how easy was to grow them. Their expensive at the grocery store so I will definitely try this, thanks a million.
I harvested my first soybean sprouts. They came out great. I used my stainless 2-tier steamer pot with stainless lid (not glass) and watered 2-3 times a day. The top level I put mung bean sprouts and the bottom soybeans. Now I have 2 sprouts growing at the same time. Thank you for the video!
thanks for telling me how to make bean sprouts, my father and my drive us crazy in salads and oriental dishes, but ultimante hard for me to find in the market now as them !!! thank you very much and many kisses from Madrid, Spain
Hello Maangchi! When you put the black cloth on the beans, you say that the beans should be watered every three hours, 3:03 ► Does this mean that we take the basket in the glass bowl and put it under the water from the sink ? ►No problem if beans are exposed to light when watered? Thank you for your beautiful videos!
Nice. I'm working on getting a garden together myself and this is good even before the garden is ready on eating fresh food. I like this! Thank you Maangchi.
Thank you so much for teaching me how to grow this!!! I'm on Day 4 and the sprouts are looking good :D I've been a huge follower for years and I wanted to thank you for teaching me all of your amazing recipes
Your video is the best sprouting presentation among many with active, with sense of humor that made the video a really interesting demonstration. Thank you.

Your blouse looks very beautiful. I bought soy bean sprouts in our local korean shop and planted several of them in the garden in spring time Lat summer I had delicious green soybeans from the garden. Cooked with some salt, and together with beer a delicacy.
This is an excellent instructional video, Maangchi! I have never thought about growing my own sprouts, but I bet there are a ton of plants I can try this technique with. I really like mustard sprouts and broccoli sprouts. I will have to search the Internet for the appropriate seeds. Thanks a bunch! Your sprouts look very healthy and delicious.

Oh, my god!!! It's my favourite veg. I live in the place where there's no Korean grocery stores so I wanted to grow my own kongnamul! Thank you so much! Maybe I can order a few bags of yellow soybeans online.
Wow!!! This is Amazing! I didnt even imagine for it to grow so fast and easy! I thought it takes months and months for it to grow and needs soil. Fantastic! Learn something everyday! :)
I did not water nearly as diligently as you, Maangchi, but they still turned out delicious. It was so exciting watching my little babies growing. Thank you! :)

Hi, My is Sterling, and I'm from Pittsburgh. The only reason I'm here is to say I love sprouts! I was at a Chinese Restaurant in P.A. when I was a kid with mom and these were in my chicken fried rice! I never knew the name of them until now. They are 😋!
💐Maanchi , 🌾thank you for all your recipes and most of all your beautiful spirit. It is a pleasure to watch you cook in the kitchen because it motivates me to try different meals on my hubby. He is diabetic so it is important to be careful of what he ears at home and you make the yummyist with mouth watering and healthy food. I don’t know in what area you live but I hope you are safe from any of the fires here in CALIFORNIA. My stepsister and family were burned out of their home and their church is also burnt to the ground in Paradise. They are alive and safe and are praising God for their family and friends. I was looking to find your tutorial on how to make your strawberry jam yet haven’t found it yet. I would love to make cherry jam and pineapple and apricot jam. I am slightly afraid of trying to make it by myself because doing it wrong could have very bad consequences. May you be blessed and always be guided by God. 🌺🌸🌷
@Maangchi I love your channel. I was wondering, could I plant them in soil to grow my own Edamame beans? I tried them at a Japanese restaurant & fell in love. Do you have any experience or advice? Thanx.
Hi Maangchi, I followed your growing steps and my kongnamul had many problems. 1)Many of the yellow heads of kongnamul turned brown by Day 2. They continued to brown as I kept growing. 2)There was so much skin peel (kupp-jil) from the yellow heads on Day 2 through 4. I picked them out whenever I rinsed. Should I do that or leave them there? 3)My kongnamul did not grow to 2”. Maybe only about 1/4” They were very sad kongnamul. What did I do wrong? Thank you. Your kongnamul looks strong and tasty!!
Growing soybean sprouts is a little difficult. I think choosing organic sprouting soybeans is important to grow them. You don't need to remove the skins while you grow them.
I bought it from Taiwan, but now I live in Germany, here has many organic food store, should be no problem to get one . very happy to know your youtube channel, I love korean food.
That is so cool, I love soybean sprouts but are hard to find in my country, now I can have them fresh and at the same time teach my son something really nice! Thank you Maangchi, you are the best! A big hug from Costa Rica! :D
I just started sprouting (mainly things like alfalfa sprouts and lentil sprouts). I am super excited to add soybean sprouts to my rotation. Thank you for the awesome instructional video! You now have a subscriber :-)
Thank you so much for this, I'm working on getting some soybeans growing in my garden and wasn't sure the best way to get them to sprout. Very helpful :)
I love your video and your food...yummmm you are very entertaining btw...I love the poster behind you...I know the artist who made it...she was my professor when I was in Hamburg art college..her name is Eun Nim Ro:))
Votre technique est formidable ! Ici je ne trouve pas les mêmes haricots de soja et j'ai beaucoup de difficultés pour les faire germer ! Un petit bonjour de France ☺
Wow, those are beautiful soy bean sprouts! Thank you for sharing. Very clear and easy to follow your steps. You are very cute and lovable. Please also make video of sprouting mung beans. Thank you again.
Maangchi, I just found your site for the first time and I love your videos. The food looks tempting (and I love hot and spicy) and your personality is just as delightful. Thanks for sharing!
Hi guys! Submitted another English caption! I made some new additions! 1. I added conversions to SI units in parenthesis for our international viewers! 2. I added in-video text in brackets because I feel like those that can't read English are missing out on Maangchi's texts! Especially on her humor! Hehe. If there is a lot of text, then I've placed it in any available gaps between Maangchi's speaking, pause the video to read them! Please reply your feedback, if you think any of these additions are great or not!
