FYI: something is off with your soil or ph, that plant should have grew way faster, and the leaves are dry and look affected by something. How is your humidity out there? Is it on the dryer side? Lower humidity levels will cause the pant to take up nutes too fast causing problems, such as toxicity issues, nutrient lock out, and more. Also, after looking at it again i think it might be the ph. Combining liquid nutes with compost, kind of like a hybrid grow. Combining organic and Hydroponic styles of gardening, both having their own different ph ranges. Or possibly too much, or not enough Garden Lime.
Somehow, your plants didn't look as bushy as they should have. For parsley to germinate and to increase the germination rate, I recommend you soak the seeds for 24 hours before planting, since parsley is notrious for poor germination rate, like 60% germination rate if you directly sow them from dry like that. Maybe you could have gotten more to germinate as you said you were planning to grow 4 per grow bag. Anyways, good video, thank you for sharing!
Hello. I grew these from winter as far as I remember, so the growth was very slow. Yes I agree with the germination part, good point 🙂👍 Thank You very much 🍀
Do you think growing at home is more costly than buying? Sometimes I think it is because potting mix is pretty expensive and you need so much for just one plant. Take into account water costs and time.
Hello, that depends on what scale are you growing and what crops. For example we grow mainly potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions and beans on large scale (meaning we don't buy any of these at any time of year or very little). Also tomatoes, peppers and some brassicas like cabbages, kohlrabi, kale etc. we don't buy those during their season. But if You mean growing in containers, then it's worth going for longer producing crops like tomatoes (especially bush varieties), peppers, aubergines or veggies that are grown for greens and can be treated as "cut and come again" crops, like leaf lettuce or kale. We catch pretty good amount of rain water in large tanks so cost of water is pretty much zero. Time - well if You are looking to grow Your own food only to save money, it's probably not a way to go, as it will be only work to you. But if You like growing plants, it will be a joy and you can also reduce your expenses. But If you are looking for crops to save money, tomatoes are a good way to go, as they are quite expensive (over here) and you can grow bush varieties in little containers with great results.
Yes, You are right. I grew the same variety from same seeds a year before with almost perfect germination rate. So I sowed less seeds per cell when making this video, assuming the same results. But things didn't go as planned, so I ended up growing only 1-2 plants per grow bag. While the plan was to grow around 4 plants per grow bag. Thank You very much for pointing it out! I appreciate Your feedback 🙂
