I remember one summertime when my uncle decided to rotate rice and watermelon. So instead of rice, watermelons were planted on our fields. He had the red-round and yellow-oblong varieties. It was so much more work than rice. When the vines are dehydrated the melons crack prematurely, and as it gets bigger closing to riping, and is overwatered, it cracks as well. But the best part was, I can choose the sweetest from all the cracked melons and eat em haha So I would visit the fields often to look for the cracked ones 😁 I think I can survive a week eating only watermelons 🍉 That's how much I love them. So refreshing!
I read a comment of a bodybuilder who explained that humans are built to be able to survive on just fruits and that was his diet he ate only fruits nothing else and health was perfect.
Growing watermelons in containers is an excellent way for a gardener with limited space to grow these refreshing fruits. Grow in balcony or are simply looking for a better way to use the limited space you have.
For those wondering we've got a pretty lame translation. While 炭疽病 does mean anthrax (thanks google!) it also means anthracnose which is a fungal disease on some plants.
oh, that explains better! I got a garden too and I was sure that was anthracnose since it seems to love my tomatoes lol. Thanks a lot! BTw, anthracnose can be treated on early stages by applying apichi on both sides of the leaves (apichi= garlic + pepper + chile macerated on water for a couple of days, the spicier the better, diluited 1:20 L water for spraying goes better than cutting most of the leaves)
This shows how hectic it is to grow and harvest produce. Doesn't sugarcoat like 5 minute crafts where plants just grow from practically anything. Thank you for showing the reality! 👏🏼👏🏼
The thing is "the preventative application of contact and/or systemic fungicides is usually necessary for successfully managing anthracnose of muskmelon and watermelon."- meaning your watermelon was almost definitely gown with fungicides. That plants parents, it's parents parents, and so forth are spoiled brats... They've never had to fight off an infection... So what makes you think it's child will just out of nowhere develope more strength than any of it's ancestors ever had?
No idea if this is 100% true but it makes sense. But I would imagine that selective breeding would've been done to take immunity and robustness of the plant to be taken into consideration.
@@redcube9629 But immunity to this disease was never a factor if the company that's breeding it always uses fungicide and expects the same for the farmers they sell seeds to
In Indonesian Harvesting watermelons is very easy here, because during the summer which lasts half a year, it is easier for farmers to harvest them, and our soil is super fertile.😁🤪💖
