White Sapotes are easy to grow from seeds from fresh, seasonal fruit. With proper care and attention, you can grow a beautiful tree that can bear green fruit with white or yellow flesh after several years.
In this video, I’ll show you how to collect the seeds, how to plant them and grow them throughout their first year. I’ll also show you what happened to my white sapote seedlings after an unprecedented Texas winter storm in February 2021 (see this video: • Texas February Freeze ... )
I plan to make a follow-up video of the white sapote seedlings as they grow in the warm Texas weather from April to Fall 2021: (pending; check back in late Fall 2021)

I have a tree that I grew from seed. I have it for 4.5 years already. I can't wait for it to have fruits

Awesome! ☺ As of May 2024, about three seedlings (featured in the video) are 4 years old. Two are in 7-10 gallon pots and are about six feet tall! I transplanted them in February 2024, and they love their new containers. I hope to see some flowering by next year! Five years from seeds is a good marker to expect flowers!

My tree is about 4.5 years old, but so far, there's no sign of it giving me fruits. Mine is in a 15 gallon pot.

Hi 1st time here... i found you due finding swallowtail butterfly larvae in my North Texas Container Garden, Zone 8a. But now I am interested in tasting a Sapote. I have never even heard of this friut before. We should talk about me buying seeds from you. Let me know. Also need to know where did you get the winter greenhouse? Thanks for sharing. 👍🏽🙏🏾

Is it true that the seed will not produce the same as the flavor as the tree it came from??

7 to 10 years. I don’t have time for that

That’s just an estimate, in nature it could be as little as 3-4 years depending on environmental and growing conditions. And besides time will pass regardless so may as well plant it as soon as possible and one day you’ll get to eat fruit of your very own.
