If our minds are full, we don't have the space for a deeper understanding. There's a lot to this emptiness idea. When can you next go for an emptiness walk in nature? Leave the headphones at home 😜 I've safely arrived back in the UK. I hope you are safe and well xx
Fantastic to hear that you are safely home! Just in time for a family Christmas. I'd really love to go to visit Master Gu what about organising small group trips!?! I'd definitely be in 🤸🙏
@@George-Thompson "Wisdom is the quality of a good judgment. The root of wisdom is virtue! Virtue is the quality of being morally good! Wisdom cannot be taught and learned. Wisdom is acquired through discipline and virtue. It is my favorite word. It is my power, the power of God" Medi Kpankou 🖤 ur channel
One of the best things about 2020 for me was finding your videos and being introduced to Wudang and Master Gu in this intimate and precious way that you bring. Much appreciation and good wishes for you, George!
Couldnt agree more. I feel that I've coped with 2020 so much better since finding you and your channel, Master Gu and the Wudan Mountains. I've watched all of your videos and bought the wonderful illustrated Dao de Jing too. And I've even started Tai Chi, I'm learning.

(Pressed send without finishing 🙈) George, watching your learning is a lesson to us too. Thank you for sharing 🙏 Have the most enjoyable Christmas with your family and loved ones, I look forward to your next post.
Absolutely everything is connected, you are connected to all of us - your viewers! We're like the roots - invisible roots- pulling together. Master Gu has been an inspiration and now George... You are too! Nature has literally lifted me up so many times! Thank you George.... Keep up the videos and stay safe 🐦🤗
A house without a library is like a body without a soul. He who has not attained wisdom in his youth pine away like an old crane in a pond without fish. Reading is like thinking with another person’s head.
I went to Thailand and visited the mountains. I stayed in a forest monastery with monks. Had this restless mind and when I was with nature my thoughts had diminished. It was a wonderful experience with loving people ❤ Nature's wisdom has its own power of healing.
What an amazing experience it has been George, and what you said about cramming our days to avoid loneliness with our thoughts, but at the same time that emptiness is so important to understand ourselves as an individual and as a collective. The editing was beautiful and so peaceful. Much love , stay safe
Taoism philosophy is so straightforward but the true meaning is definitely not the easiest to grasp even for people whose native language is Chinese. But you videos have translated them so well and very in depth. 👏👏👏
Excellent point to be made especially in these times. This is why a meditation practice is so important. And the Tao Te Ching is sparse in its words for a reason. One passage from that text could be used for meditation for a lifetime.
Hey George . Stumbled upon your channel out of the blue but I must admit, the concept getting wisdom not in books but in bush just wooed me. Im in awe right now
What a journey, you are experiencing - inside and outside. I‘ll gonna miss the absolute stunning landscape und the peace within, while you‘re in britain. Hopefully you and your family are well. Enjoy the days of togetherness!
I kinda really love this video. Simply stated, beautifully shot. It just all makes so much sense. I love the idea of ‘not feeling all that different’ when hanging out with trees, squirrels, birds, water and bugs. I get it.
It reminds me of what tolle said: Words are just signs pointing on an object. I can read every book about honey, where it comes from, how it tastes and looks and so on. But without actually tasting honey I still don't know what it is.
@@themacocko6311 Everyone gains wisdom differently bruh... some gain it through experience, some through Books / Mentors but at the end of the day it's all based on (experience)
This series has been amazing! It’s caused me, someone who suffers from anxiety disorder, to really dig deeper into meditation and tai chi quan. Thank you, and Master Gu, for all you guys do. I look forward to your return, and please, be safe during this pandemic and these troubling times.
@@George-Thompson The experiences you share with us, the knowledge you pass on to us, are one of a kind. If you ever think you are not doing enough, don't listen to your underminer! People like me are immensely grateful to you, master Gu, and all the others you've shown in your videos for everything you are teaching us!
I myself find wisdom not only in bushes, but as well as books, as well as reflecting on my past, as well as reflecting on the thoughts that are preparing me for the future. Towns, villages, and cities too I presume hold wisdom if you just step back and perceive, not only the physical world but as well as the inner world. Wisdom cannot be contained in a cage, it is found everywhere, in everything
I was later when I began to understand the power of nature. But yes- taking time out in peaceful beauty brings more wisdom. I am now working to make age 50 to 75 the best years of my life. #50to75
George: I have enjoy your amazing trip and see you how you grew from the beginning up to this "final" stop. I will hope that your travel back home will be a safe one, wishing you the best, and expecting to see you again in a new adventure. Be well!
Thanks for another excellent upload George👍 Sorry to see you leaving the Wudang mountains, but hope you have a safe journey back to the UK - and look forward to new uploads in the new year. Stay safe and well. ATB

Tons of things to chat about from this beautiful video, Geroge! But no, I won't. Just want to say I'm already missing the mountains I've been enjoying through your eyes and camera. Thank you for all. Glad to learn you're already safe back at home. ❤
I have been Studying Tao Te Ching for many years and found that you explanation are fully in Sync with my understanding.. Travel safe George.. Big Fan from Malaysia..
Like the taoist story about the old wheel maker. An old wheel maker was making a wheel for a rich man while he was reading, the old man ask what the rich man was reading, "the greats" the rich man respond, "alive or dead" say the wheel maker," dead a long time ago"I say the rich man, "so is only the dust they left behind" say the wheel maker, "explain" say the rich man, so the wheel maker say"if i make a wheel too tight it doesn't fit, if i make it too loose then it fall apart, i can't explain how to make a wheel even to my own son, so here I am, old, still making wheels, the great ones took all their wisdom to the grave with them, so that is only the dust they left behind".
This is very beautiful, George. Heart warming and inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing your world, your experiences and your wisdom. May your travels be safe. May you continue to see and understand even in urban environments. You are quite impressive.
Welcome back to Blighty, George. Nothing much had changed except now we are also fretting about brexit again, as well as COVID. Thanks for the video. You’ve honed your craft. What a difference from your earlier offerings! I wish you well in your next venture and hope that Wudan is somehow part of it, in the not to distant future. It’s a beautiful place. I feel like I know it now. Go well George. 🙏🏽 See you in your next vid. Blessings
Good to see you bro!, Watching you since the video on the buddhist temple were you waited for a monk , but the monk never came!. Good stuff bro!. Blessings
Facing your fears releases an infinite amount of energy and frees you. And even in a big Western city, as I left a beautiful island, beaches, warm weather, luxuriant countryside, for a big city on another continent, where I was surprised to discover that my consciousness was not my brain. “The place where you are seated is a sacred land”: know yourself and you will need no ideal place to awake, no book. Wisdom is in the way you live your life. I discovered a book on wisdom by chance and was surprised that all what I had experienced was there, written. It was a book by Jiddu Krishnamurti.
I think master Gu gave you a good name. Even in this video about wisdom and emptiness, the presence of scientific knowledge is strong. You say that this knowledge confirms ancient wisdom, but since knowledge and wisdom are different things, one cannot confirm the other. I think this is a logical error which is very common because our minds were forged at school and not in nature and experience. Wisdom seeks simplicity which is difficult for our schooled mind. In the Yijing, wisdom is also associated with Kan, de 29th hexagram concerning water but also danger and pitfalls. What helps one through the danger is not knowledge, for there is too much uncertainty, but the streaming quality of water that never loses its own identity no matter the circumstances. Thank you for sharing your sincere efforts George
Before watching your video I first answered the question for myself about what I think Wisdom is. My answer: seeing and observing your surroundings. Then I watched your video. I really liked the part where you where saying that everything is connected. I also forgot to add experience to my answer. But overall really nice video! Thank you
The Tao, The Way, Natural Law. All are the same thing. And a greater understanding of the nature of things can be sought both via our own existential experiences, as well as the experiences of others - shared in books, blogs, videos....and discussions. 😊🙏🐀
A huge thanks to you George to take the time to create and share these inspiring video! Wish you all the best for what is in front of you in your journey❤️
Sending abundance amount of love and light George. Thankyou for all your amazing videos so far. I loved this one esp, cause I can relate to it.. I must say living in City surrounded by craziness, I come home to my loving cat. I sit and just observe her and find connected to Nature through her as well. Blessings 🙏💜
As someone who has spent their entire life thus far scouring the world and the Internet for Earthly knowledge, none of it matters. The only thing that Matters is Being.
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RU-vid channel 3 months ago about self development. Now I have 269 subs and almost > 97 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.
@@George-Thompson Thanks so much! I realized that the main reason for doing this is not about the success but the inspiration I've been providing some people with my stories while helping others do the same as I shared the lessons & experiences through making videos to have a sense of meaningful purpose. Therefore, I’m planning to quit nursing to pursue youtube full time as there are lots of issues in our traditional health systems as these don’t align with my values. It’s a huge learning curve but I love helping people through making videos. Also, as part of my video creation progress, I’m switching to a better editing software and a camera so the learning curve is much higher and slows down the completion speed of my next videos so please hang on tight! I do appreciate your support and kind words! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! 🙂
I have enjoyed your travels and experiences very much. The amazing people you have met and the wisdom you and they have shared. I now have my own copies of The Tao Te Ching and The Bhagavad Gita. Fascinating and enlightening which i owe to you for introducing them to me. I wish you a safe journey and look forward to more of your travels. Thank you🙏
Thanks George, hope you don't have too much of a culture crash arriving back to the UK! I've found your videos really inspiring, and am considering myself in need of a trip to Taoist Wellness Centre myself once China allows foreigners into the country again :).
I wish you the best on your journey my friend! Don't worry, just flow. Don't worry too much about the past or the future. Don't worry about gaining more wisdom (faster/quicker), just enjoy the ride/jounrey as wisdom flows to you in stillness, in wonder. Much love!
Nature is our greatest teacher. Thanks for putting it to words and images. I sometimes feel i need to read me more books. But less in more in a lot of ways. Have a safe trip back to England!
You become wiser by non-action. Natural wisdom will come to you in every moment, if you're open to it. No need to go in the bushes. Your body is a miracle, too. It's all accessible right now in this moment.
I love the idea of a given name of Xu, almost like he knew it’d be something that would tell the tale of your progress and learn how to love something you once felt a dread for, I do wish to one day meet master gu
Thank you, George. You are a beacon of light right now--and just in general. :) Happy Christmas to you and your family. Wishing you and Master Gu peace, prosperity, and health in the new year!
Hey George This is probably my first comment on RU-vid ever. Thank you very much for your great effort and your beautiful videos. Your channel is one of the very few reasons to still use RU-vid from time to time. If you ever make it to Switzerland, you have a friend here!
Thank you for your beautiful efforts, shall it bring light to many hearts! I hope I can take the wisdom of this wonderful Master in that magical place.
I really enjoyed watching your journey from the beginning. Being lost and depressed and seeking out a teacher to now finding wisdom through experience and being one with nature. Truly inspirational. Keep it up. 🙌🌟✨🙏
