hi everyone!! ik that a lot of you guys found me through my "how to start your own small business" video, so i decided to follow it up with a "part 2" on how to actually grow/make sales for your shop :D i tried to include EVERYTHING i learned from my own small business journey, so i hope you can learn something new if you've been struggling to make sales for your shop :") also! hope u didn't miss me too much ;))
I *DID* miss you!! You are very honest about the ups and downs of owning a small business. Please keep up the good work. Can't believe I missed this one. I love watching your videos.😆
The interesting thing about pricing is it reflects quality. If you underprice your stuff, people may not expect it to be a quality product. Raising prices a bit can increase sale volume.
as a fellow small biz owner who’s really struggling with the algorithm punishing me and slow sales, this has really helped! Your advice is actually so good, really appreciate ur mindset and perspectives
I was at work when an order came in. My husband text me saying my daughter has helped me packed. I was surprised! But yeah like you said, I learn to let go, let my daughter learn to help me in my small online shop. 😊
This was really encouraging, thank you! I opened an Etsy shop in November and it’s been doing well, but I’m not a big social media poster… RU-vid is my favorite platform so maybe I should finally take the leap. I get nervous my videos won’t be aesthetic enough tho…
one thing i realize about building your small business is that you dont have to be on the price war like others. I commend you raising the price! looking at your products, they are really worth it and I believe that customers who believe and see efforts doing personalized products will always choose to pay more than getting a cheaper but low quality. More sales to come!
You're so sweet, I believe in you! I want to start my online shop but I'm so scared. Social media is my biggest struggle because I'm not super consistent, especially on Instagram. I'm starting with what I have and I'll do what I can. You encourage me with such informative content. Thank you so much ❤
loved hearing your mindset shifts. everything you've mentioned is so so true! it's funny because this year I finally put IG in the bench and literally wrote on my yearly plans - create/repurpose IG content LAST. thank you for sharing your wise words 🙋🏼♀
love that this video addresses a spiritual side (limiting beliefs, scarcity mindset etc.) to entrepreneurship - something that isnt talked about enough but is such a huge aspect!! x
Wow thank you for this video. I have stepped back from business because it was all too much to balance while homeschooling my two girls. These were all amazing tips. I really got in my own way ❤ I still have the dream lingering and plan to find a way to make it happen even if its slow and steady or takes me a few years ❤❤️ congratulations on your growth 💓
found this video and it made me feel muuuch less anxious about this path i so badly wanna take!! Instagram lately has been giving me literal anxiety just by opening it and i can't see myself making DAILY CONTENT, interact with comments, keeping up etc without ending up feeling awful. The youtube perspective is especially helpful and encouraging, and the 3 roles idea is so useful!!!! thank you so much for this video, it's what i needed :D
Love your content. I felt as if you were talking to me. I want to start my own business and am still trying to find a way on how and where to start. Thank you so much. I feel much better now after hearing you. God bless you and your business. ❤
Chapter 2 was especially helpful because I have never been able to figure out if I should have a social media soley about the business, or soley myself. You helped me realize that a gray area is perfectly acceptable so ty!
I just recently found your channel. Thank you so much for going into detail and sharing your personal experiences with your small business. I agree with you about posting on RU-vid rather than on Instagram. For me personally it was harder to fight the algorithm there. So, this year I’ve chosen to focus my energies into making my RU-vid channel workout. I don’t get too many views on my website but my small business on a whole is a work in progress. Thank you for the tips. I will try to implement them. Take care!😊
Have been contemplating about creating RU-vid videos for ages now but have always felt “held back” intimidated to make the “perfect video” that my minds satisfied with. Always getting stuck because I create an overwhelming mindset for myself. So thank you :) so much
Such a helpful video, thank you. I've had my small biz for quite a while and your suggested have boosted me to re-think how I run my business on so many levels. Thank you!
wow thank you so much for sharing the mindset that you have. i just starting out my small business with my friend and havent launch anything since our plan went south and we have to start over. but now i get so many insights from you that makes me think that i can turn this into stories and put it on youtube! thank you so much and wish me luck!!
I'm having to unlearn that my sticker designs should be really detailed.... your stickers are very simple... but so incredibly adorable with their own unique personality, but still really cute and desirable.... so I found myself having to teach myself how to draw more simply.... and I'm learning that i absolutely adore more simple designs.... and it's really fun creating the more minimalistic things, while still trying to keep them looking like what they're supposed to look like.... a good practice activity is one line drawings! .... also thank you SO MUCH for this video... I've been struggling to figure out how to organize my time, but thinking about myself as those three people helps a lot! like... i think now I'll schedule some times just for the technician, and other times for the other roles, that way i'm not struggling to do all roles at the same time!
Hii even though I do beads watching you helps me get work done for my business even tho they’re not connected at all but it’s so inspiring and motivations thank you
im planning up my small stationary business right now it'll be in launch possibly mid spring :) i'm really excited for it this was really helpful with no business experience or knowledge so thankyou so much for taking the time for beginners like me
I saw your video from a year ago with the same title. To be honest, there were parts I didn't agree with in the first video. However, it led me to this video, and I can see that you've experienced personal and entrepreneurial growth. 😊
Thank you for making this video! I stumbled onto this video hoping to make my own design buisness someday! Hopefully soon ;)! You made me more confident and i now realized that i shouldnt compare myself to others and that i shouldnt stop nor limit myself!
discovered ur channel and am feeling like a proud cmu alum hahaha keep on slaying... this is great advice and a cozy little corner of the internet you've created!
omg !!! i actually found you through your "create or be consumed" video (on my personal account) and when i saw that you graduated from cmu in the intro i was so shocked and sent your video to my friends here !! i love your videos as well :") it's so cool to see we're all so connected :0
Thank you so much for this video! I'm kind of nervous that no one will buy anything from me at all but I still want to try as im taking a creative way, Setting up everything is sooo tedious but fun!
Thank you so much for this video ! The last few months I been having this feeling that is time to close by shop and start something new. Thank you for sharing it really has helped me figure things out l. 😊
yes!! i am so so glad it was helpful for you! taking that initial leap can be scary, but you will feel SO much more confident as you learn from your own journey 🤍
Hi! Your videos really inspired me a lot. Can I ask you a few questions? 1. What equipment/supplies did you buy when you started? 2. What platform did you launch your first orders and how to promote?
hi! thank you so much! as for the answers to your questions... (1) i started with my ipad/apple pencil, a printer (which i had at home), a sticker cutter, and sticker paper! i have the current supplies i'm using in my description as well :) (2) i launched my shop using squarespace and had built an audience through instagram when first getting starting!
I'm thinking about starting to post on social media and eventually starting a shop. I was originally planning to start on insta & tiktok, but now I've somewhat changed my mind. Either way, there's a lot more work I need to do b4 i start..
What's you manufacturer because i'm trying to start a call business but I'm in the statistic phase right now. I don't know which manufacturer is the best option for a stationary business?
wow we are all so connected in the concerns that we share - my next video is actually EXACTLY about how to overcome that fear and doubt to get started :") i hope it can help give u that extra push towards your dreams!!! i believe in you 🫶
Hi Joanna, I just subscribed because I noticed how much we think alike about business, creativity, and life. I currently have an Etsy shop, but I want to close it, start on Squarespace and RU-vid. TYSM for being helpful to other artists, entrepreneurs and creators. BTW, do you mind sharing which keychain manufacturer you work with?
I also think the reason why some of those small business owners mentioned in the beginning (annika's leaf, hoosbooth) is because I've noticed that: 1. annika's leaf: she would always post yt videos consistently before she began her business and still does one of her videos probably went popular before, which many people also probably found her channel that way 2. hoosbooth: i saw a video of hers and she had a video that gained a couple million views, before she started her small business, which explains how her channel is kind've popular. Final verdict: A consistent posting schedule will most definitely bring in more audience as people always look forward to lots of posts, however if you are posting every 1-2 months, loads of people will honestly just forget about your channel. At least I do. If a small business owner's channel I watch didn't post in a while, I just sort of forget that she still is there. That's just how my mind works, but I truly think that a consistent posting schedule is really helpful in gaining more audience. Hope this helps :) I'm no small business owner but that's some of the information I've learned from watching all these owners :')
wow thanks for leaving your insights! i definitely agree that a consistent uploading schedule can be what gets your community more invested in your work - it's definitely one of the things i'm working towards in the coming months 🤧
@johannapark no problem! I just wanted to add a few bits of advice because I've watched so many of the successful small biz using many of these methods
It’s so true perfectionism can kills. My product is very fragile so I always hesitate to let my mom package them or cut the care card. But the truth is she pack them pretty well😂😂😂
Here I am 4months late but ima use this advice as I want to make a sticker business even though I don’t have the money to make them look as nice as yours glossy , I hope I can still make an effort ❤
I loved this video! I saw that you're studying CS, do you plan to keep your business once you graduate and have a full time job? I've been a SDE for the past 4 years and just recently quit my job so I can start the small stationery business I've always dreamed of. I worry that when I get back into the workforce I won't have time to maintain it :'(
wow that is so cool! i will probably also be working in that field for a bit after graduation! as of now, i do want to keep my shop open even after i graduate :) finding a good system will be super important to keeping it running, but i think it will be possible >:) i believe you will find a way to as well !!!
