Thank you for taking the time to inform people like me how to properly do something like this! I never knew about treating a fishes wounds like that. Thanks for the great vid 👍🏻
Wish i could catch a big carp lol, been carp fishing for years and years, never had a carp over 20lb biggest was 19lb 11oz , first time I took my son fishing for carp his first fish he caught was 20lb 9oz ,was so happy for him, really i could have chucked him in the lake lol, joking, mind u was happy because he loves fishing as much as me, great video again lads ,
Superb advice guys! In times when our beloved sport is coming under scrutiny from many angles, it's upto us to do our best to take great care of both our environment and our fish too! Care for our catch, leave the place as you find it (or cleaner in some cases) and we can continue to enjoy everything that we all love! 👍👍😎🎣
I have literally just spent the last 20 minutes trying to investigate carp antiseptic and general carp wound care and your youtube is seriously the only relevant youtube return i am getting. Thank you!
Same, so few articles or forum posts surrounding it. Was prompted to do so as it was always heartbreaking seeing fish with previous angling injuries or preventable infections, even more so on our waterways that are increasingly inhospitable to our native fish species.
This is Just as important as actually hooking the fish. A lot of the time the fish can randomly go crazy and flop on the ground and that's why the mat is really important. Great work lads! Loved the video!
Useful stuff! I learned fishing from my grandpa who took nearly every fish we ever caught home to eat (including carp, tench, etc., even illegally... although here in the Netherlands you can keep virtually anything you catch, with some restrictions... and he poached with set-lines and stuff), so fish care was not among the things he taught me. He often kept them alive in a plastic bag until we got home, to make sure they stayed fresh. I also had to unlearn guthooking fish and using the heaviest tackle possible... because that's what he taught me as well, since making sure to catch a fish was far more important than its safety. I'm glad I'm no longer like that. That's also what rekindled my passion for fishing: learning new, better methods and treating fish with respect, instead of the primitive "keeping everything we catch" approach.
@@donalddarko3676 Absolutely! I rarely ever keep fish. The only thing I would occasionally keep if I would manage to catch some on a water where I know there are plenty would be big perch and zander... Luckily I almost never fish with lures or cut bait, so chances of that happening are slim :)
So many have taken up fishing during lockdown which I massively support. Its a great hobby and way to deal with mental health issues. It's very important that people follow these tips. Start small and build confidence but most importantly enjoy your catch and let the next person too
Another great video. These are tips that every new angler needs to be aware of and some seasoned anglers need to be reminded of. It's basic but vital that the care of the fish is paramount.
Keep the carp sane and safe for longlasting pleasure that's your message and it's as important as catching them. Nice to remember us to this important aspect of carpfishing. 👍
No one has ever done a "playing a fish safely" video... e.g. when/how to use the clutch/ back winding/ how to control the fish near snags etc.. I would love to see something like this put out there!
Great video as always gents. I note there seems to be a lack of tutorial content online regarding technique for removing barbed hooks, something I have struggled with on occasion.
@@fishingtutorials @Fishing Tutorials alright guys. So, I was wandering around Lidl and I saw in the middle of Lidl (the 'when it's gone, it's gone' section) some popper lures. Now, I do like spin fishing, and I thought that maybe there were some areas I could improve on, so, it'd mean an awful lot to me if you could do a guide on spinning with a small section about types of lure and what they're for. Thx guys, have a nice week :)
Great video and lots learned and bees do make propolis Trust me I'm a Bee keeper its actually derived from tree sap/resin and what ever bees do with it all I know is Beekeepers carry a hive tool for a very good reason, once it goes hard in the hive its the best glue / sealant there is great work guys thank-you
Great advice, thanks. Do you or any one else here have any advice or tips when dealing with a particularly active and "flappy" fish whilst trying to hold? There have been some that to protect the fish, I've decided just to return without photo.
I just place them back on the mat and gently hold them down with both hands for a minute. You can also lean over them as you do this but don't know if that scares them into being still or just feels natural to me! lol. When picking them up for a photo, I've always held them one hand under tha anal fin and the other under it's chin?...with the 1st 2 joints of my forefinger in it's mouth. Works for me!
@@fishingtutorials - Tackle shop owners need to promote both of those a lot more as it's easy to forget when we're in the midst of buying our mandatory 30 floats we're never going to use and stuff!
Hi Alex and Carl. One question in regards to this topic that I would like to know. What is considered a "safe" time to have the fish out of the water. I'm asking because in my country carp fishing has gain a lot of popularity but lake owners where there are bigger cars tend to over rush people to place the fish back in the water. I've had one account that after 20 seconds I was forced to put it back, I didnt event had time to take a proper picture.
Hi, have you any suggestions on releasing carp from high pegs? I want to try carp fishing but my local lake have high wood erected pegs. And impossible to get down into the water from the sides as they are overgrown. Thanks in advance
Keep your landing net close. Reel the fish in until it's about the length of your rod away, with your non-dominant hand slide the net into the water and lift your rod. Try to slide the fish over the nets rim and in rather than pushing the net towards the fish, which will scare it.
Me, here in Germany, which is forbidden to release fish of this size.😭 But sometimes it's a coincidence when the fish jumps from the unhooking mat into the water.😉😂
They do this in UK because each fish on average is worth up to 20,000 USD if not more. In America it really doesn’t matter as much as long as you keep the fish from hurting itself
