I am explaining about GMC ethical scenario and 4 pillars of medical ethics. with an example of prescribing contraception to a 15-16 year old. How to assess Gillick competence and check the facts to consider and my model answer. The key is to communicate with an open mind and listen to their concerns, and then try to reach a balance where you can support your assessment with their worries. Reach an agreed and safe decision and present them with your assessment and plan.
Example 1: you are asked to prescribe an OCP for a 15 year old girl.
Answer: Maintain confidentiality, assure them and support them, develop a rapport ,

Example 2: If the parents disagree to the treatment options; for example IV vs Oral treatment, length of stay; -
Example 3: If the patient came to a routine outpatient appointment for a test and was noted to be unwell, and not fit to go home but at the same time does not want to be admitted -
