If I’m not mistaken the fun fact about extra top spin is only true for volleys, as soon as a backspin ball hits the court and also continues to travel forward it will skip off the ground and switch to being a lighter topspin ball. You can see this effect happen better in slow motion, so you won’t actually have “more” topspin on your shot off the bounce, just a slightly slower and higher ball.
Yes probably in most instances but it will have way less top spin that comes with most people normal drive/hit. Therefore probably want to drive a little higher than normal as it is going to dip more. Watch Zane's video on this on why Pros are not slicing their returns video
@@clintroberts1 Yeah I agree, I guess I’m just not sold on slice returns being strictly worse, since you do have to provide that extra power and lift yourself on the receiving end. Against heavier topspin you can redirect the pace on the ball with more power without having to provide as much lift, ultimately allowing for faster/harder counters.
The more I play the more I see spin at the 3.0 level and then again at the 4.5 level but little between. 3.0 is “try to be fancy spin” where 4.5 is “spin with purpose”
The video cut short, I think when you were going to cover how to hit top spin on backspin shots. Would love to learn how to hit those with authority without chucking them into the net
You can aim a bit higher than you normally would for your drive because the added topspin will loop the ball down. Just make sure your dive has topspin as well and you should be golden. Seeing a video about it and practicing would definitely help a lot though.
