A Caution: From what I've read you should only use a stainless steel carabiner to attach your hammock to the eye hooks. Using one made out of lightweight materials can damage the carabiner.
@FrozensAdventures
@FrozensAdventures 7 лет назад
Though I've never had problems or have ever visually seen any damage to the BD Neutrino carabiners on the eye hooks I primarily use the heavy steel carabiners when hanging indoors. Thanks though. I've read the same but like I said never seen any damage.
@joshuah322
@joshuah322 6 лет назад
I ran into a issue with plain old carabiners i got from the hardwear store were they would rub agenst the eye hooks and eventually breaking because I didn't notice the issue happening. I wish I read this before i started me indoor hammock adventure. Xd

For the non-handyman. Studs are 1-1/2" wide or 3/4" to the center from either side. A good magnet can help find the drywall screws and save you on the stud finder. Sometimes walls are 24" on center, especially for interior walls or non load bearing walls.

I always use stainless 3/8 eye bolts with a minimum of 2" threads...and a 1/4" drill bit. I run corner to corner of the room. It works great! Thanks for the vid...

Or, instead of buying a stud finder, you can just feel along the wall and knock gently with your knuckles. When it sounds solid, you've found your stud.

I know this is a super old video - but OMG THANK YOU. I am literally going to the Depot right now. I have been thinking about doing this for a while now. I have brand new Chameleon and UGQ Zeppelin I have been dying to play with. (I instantly fell in love with hammock camping last year. Best sleep ever and haven’t looked back or felt bad about it.) *Also going to find a way to hide the eye bolts from a husband who said “No hammocks in the bedroom” then went off to a work thing for a few days. I’m going to sleep like a CHAMP tonight and I can’t wait! 🤗😂

@@FrozensAdventures It took me about 15 minutes once I found a drill bit. All set up with the underquilt and everything - which was not as intimidating as I thought it would be. Had to get up before I fell asleep (this UQ is going to be SO perfect for the NPT 🤗) Thank you again!!!

Yes my new house is smaller than the one in this video. Just drill in at an angle for your eye bolts. Make sure you are getting in the stud at at least a 45 degree angle.

Hey Frozen. I just did a hike over the weekend and the guys I was with both had hiking poles. I'm think I want to get some and I was wondering if you have any recommendations? I know you had the Black Diamond Distance Z poles but I was wondering if you're still using them or not.
@FrozensAdventures
@FrozensAdventures 7 лет назад
I am still using them but I've heard stories from AT thru hikers that say BD's customer service blows. I don't have any experience with their support though. But if i was going to get another set of poles right now I'd go with Leki. Any cheap model will due.

Hey Cal & Jason, Maybe this will be of some help. I have the Leki Corklite Antishock poles. Their speedlock system is rock solid and they have above average customer service. I broke a poll swatting at a raccoon that chased me. Funny, kinda - scary - yes. They replaced it for cost of shipping only. My wife has the Leki Cressida Antishock poles. They are the exact same as mine - just a women's version.

Jason, I'm looking at EE quilts - do you have the 10D MEMBRANE fabric or 20D option? What are your thoughts on durability - I have a pretty serious concern using the 10D for an UQ. Appreciate the feedback. -Fuzzy
@FrozensAdventures
@FrozensAdventures 7 лет назад
I have the 20d outer layer for my UQ. I was worried about brush snags under the hammock. Sometimes I get to campsites late and don't want to clear stuff. Durability has been fine but a thorn isn't going to care what denier your UQ is.
@fuzzyiguana
@fuzzyiguana 7 лет назад
A thorn is a pain in everything. I've sent EE an email as to what this 20D material actually is. I'm wondering if it's a 1.0 HyperD that is calendered...anyhow - thank you for the quick reply. I'm a subscriber and always look forward to your videos. Happy Thanksgiving!

HELP! I literally CANNOT locate the studs in my walls I used a really strong magnet to try to find them but think I might not have any since the house is so old and it might be a lath and plaster wall. What do I do, can I still hang the hammock?
@FrozensAdventures
@FrozensAdventures 7 лет назад
+Juanita Munevar you can hammer a small nail in at random spots until you hit a stud. You tried a stud finder already? A magnet isn't going to find a wooden stud for you.
@juanis8219
@juanis8219 7 лет назад
Outdoor Adventures I think I might've just found them with a stud finder thanks!
@giggityeffyou
@giggityeffyou 7 лет назад
They're usually sixteen inches apart so you can start counting from the corner. Another trick I use is just knocking on the wall. Whenever I'm fishing wires through walls, I look for an outlet because outlets are nailed into studs. If you see and outlet on your wall, start knocking in the area and you'll hear one side doesn't sound as hollow. That's the side your stud is on.. I would still recommend a stud finder so you can find the center.
