UGH! I am trying to hang a 75 lb mirror onto the provided screw in wall to catch on the frame of the mirror. I'm killing myself trying to hold up the mirror, look behind mirror and align to catch. As others have said in comments you left out that bit at the end of actually hanging mirror to wall. Trying to find this help is near impossible 🙄
Pad out the wire with some lumps of foam rubber, so as the wire stands proud from the mirror enough for you to easily hook it over your fixings. You might also find a *cleat fixing* easier - it comes in two parts - one bit is screwed into the back of your mirror and the other corresponding bit screws into the wall. It makes the hanging stage a lot easier imo. Bon chance!
@jeliarra Thanks for your comment. I'm looking to film a follow-up video to help others in the future. If you're still struggling - I echo the comments of @221b-Maker-Street - you want something to hold the tabs / wire out. Mine didn't have wire, it only had tabs so I held them out with blu tac - it literally just has to hold them out for the 30s or so it takes you to hang it. Hope that helps a little?
Like all the others, you fall short by not showing us how to actually place the heavy mirror onto the wall once all the hooks and brackets are in place. Because thats the hardest part, especially with 2 hooks and a wire. Heavy antique mirror, like yours.
@NYnative61 Yep, that's a fair comment bud. To be honest I was 50/50 about posting this video. I didn't have my usual gear for filming and it was done 'on the hoof'. In the end I figured that it was better to be up and if it helps some people out then great :-) My goal on RU-vid is to save people time though, so if it's costing others time - I'll take it down. Note - there's no wire with this mirror, just the two hook going straight onto the two bolts sticking out of the wall. It's not like a picture where you have the wire between the hooks on the rear of the picture. Also it's not antique ;-) But it is really heavy - unfortunately there was just no way to film me lifting it onto the lugs..
@NYnative61 Yep, I'm really sorry pal - I did the best I could at the time - I was caught short without my usual gear: tripod, lighting etc. I did show one of the mounting hooks on the back of the mirror - there's no wire on this one.
I'm looking on Amazon Shinseki to get n it much of a budget either but which one do I get there is hammer drill and screwdriver drill I need it to drill whole for my mirror to but hung up 😩😭❤
@roso2856 Yep, totally agree with you buddy - I'm really sorry it was 50/50 whether to record the video or not - I was caught short without my recording gear. In the end I decided the information that I would be able to transfer made it worthwhile, but I am uncomfortable having a sub-standard video on the channel. I did the best I could with the edit and post-production but it's definitely not a video I'm proud of.
Hello Jon. Thanks for this video! I'm about to hang an antique mirror and various other things for my elderly Dad whose house is chaos-on-a-stick atm... 🥴 If I'm also hanging a zig-zag cat rack in the hall (solid wall, 1960s house) would you also recommend these fixings, or something less... heavy-duty, please?
@221b-Maker-Street Thanks for your comment - glad the video has helped :-) Those fixings are massive overkill for a zig zag cat rack ( I had to Google that lol). I would recommend you use a decent rawlplug such as the 5mm or 6mm one from this: geni.us/ZAD5Ra and choose screws to match. Hope that helps? Let me know how you get on?
@SH__- Respectfully disagree with you because: 1. The manufacturer instructions required an M10 bolt - they've done their CE marking & safety testing around that fixing. 2. My kids regularly play under that mirror - I'm not taking chances 3. That mirror was REALLY heavy.
Do you EVER once say the name of the fixing you are using? You go into so much detail on the other videos that are all wrong, but what the hell are the safe fixings you show once for 1 second and never name?! WHY
@sineadoconnell1791 Thank you for your feedback. I have updated the description with a link to the two fixings that I recommend. In your particular case I also recommend you check out www.angermanage.co.uk/
Awful video. Didn't explain how he worked out where to drill the holes in the wall. And as others have said, the fixings are way to big for that mirror, and he didn't explain how to hang it.
