YES! The French Cleat! If one has a mirror or heavy framed art on the walls hung by wire, you are asking for a disaster! Do yourself a favor and swap them all out with the French Cleat. Not only are they stronger and more secure, they are easier to hang-total Win-Win! Martha, my heart dropped to my toes when you said "1805"!!!! Mirror, painting, whatever, what an ordeal to go through! Considering your enthusiasm for the cleat and mentioning "because it wasn't hung properly", I am going to guess that poor mirror was not hung using a French Cleat.

This was very informative. Polyurethane Self-Adhesive Rubber Bumper Pads would be great to use on the back of the frames also. These will prevent the frame from sliding and keep it level.

The screw eye goes on the inside of the frame of the canvas, not on the back. For the back of the canvas, you want D-Rings that lay flush against the back

Wrongly done. Now the hooks will make the canvas stick out from the wall. They go inside the frame.

I'd recommend though to screw inside the stretcher/frame so that the painting hangs more flat on the wall

There are many better offerings on RU-vid regarding professional attachment and wrapping of wire; eye screws work okay on smaller, lighter things, but they are screwed into the inner frame. D rings are used for heavier frames and they are screwed to the back. The technique of proper wire wrapping has only a couple options, and this is not that.

I want to hang a heavy glass framed picture (I'm talking 5 ft diameter, maybe 15-20 pounds) on a marble chimney breast without drilling a hole in the wall and damaging the marble. Is it even possible? Ceiling cables maybe? Some kind heavy duty adhesive pads?

The screw eyes on the large canvas seem strange to me. When hung on the wall, the screws would protrude and possibly dent/scratch the paint if bumped into, wouldn't it?

You mean they would damage the wall paint? I think you are right. I don't use them. I use the ones that end up flat on the back.

Martha interrupts the guest too much as they're giving instructions. Had to re play this clip a few times trying to fully hear the instructor . Ego gets in the way too often.
