Wow. This video just solved a huge problem for me and I feel like an idiot for not thinking of this. Thanks for the tip. Having to wait for my 22 year old son to help me hang sheets is a nightmare.

I started working single handedly on my first home in 1971 at age 23. I use 1/2"x4'x8' sheetrock. I started by placing the power drill in the paint tray of my 6' folding ladder, putting 4 sheetrock screws in my mouth, then balancing the sheetrock on my head and holding it with one hand. I'd climb the ladder until my head pressed the screetrock to the underside of the upstairs floor beams --- then the hard part, picking up the drill, spitting a screw onto the tool bit and getting that first screw in the middle of the sheetrock aligned with the wood beam and zap. Everything, and I mean everything, I did to rebuild that house had to be calibrated to be accomplished by one person. PS: The house cost $9500 in NYC (no lie) and it wasn't worth that.

Using a ledger board is exactly how I hang drywall myself as well, and also hanging upper wall cabinets in a kitchen.

Thanks, I was thinking of doing this but nice to see it actually done. And I wouldn't have thought of leaving adding the extra 1/8" and using shims.

Interior partition walls: Glue instead of screw (less to tape/mud later, less screw popping, straighter walls) Only screw the outside edges.

Yeah except you didn't get it tight to the ceiling and you used zero glue....you should always put a 2' smear of glue on the stud....I don't care what anyone says glue holds better than screws
