Hey! Not just guys who enjoy these videos! I am an elderly woman, I always helped my husband with work, commercial shrimping with 55ft and 65 ft boats, way out in the Gulf of Mexico, NOT for the faint of heart...always having to fix something, his hobby of repairing old vehicles, etc. I am really enjoying his "never give up "attitude" and the fact that in spite of what he's doing is dangerous, he's very careful, and no one gets hurt!

Need to get a big piece of plate steel for a skid, and put the dozer on it to drag out. We do that for tracked vehicles at the steel mill. Getting the tracked vehicles from one end of the plant to the other would take for ever. Put the tracked vehicle on the plate steel skid and drag it with a big loader. @@Jutilaje For real. I'm thinking people suggesting that haven't actually looked into what a plate of steel like that costs. Let alone what it weighs, and what a logistical nightmare it would be to get it in and out of there. Makes way more sense to just make an extra trip back up with a dozer to blade the ruts back out of the road.
@Holgrinator
@Holgrinator 2 года назад
I would have dragged the dozer out sideways. Lift the leading edge about a foot and it would grade the road for you and you wouldn’t have 20 steel ribs on the bottom of the treads fighting you. Tracked vehicles like that have very little side bite and you could see as they pulled it out it kept wanting to turn sideways

He was on salary year around with another man to maintain buildings and equipment. He was doing maintenance on the Cat, and with no one around, let my sister and I drive it around and showed us how to make it spin with the tracks making neat circles in the snow! It was so exciting.

Similar here. My dad died young, but years ago, when I was living in rural Australia and a retired guy who lived a few farms over, so he was a "neighbour" from 20 km/ 12 miles away. Before he'd retired he'd been a truck driver of "low loaders" those extra huge low bed trailers that carried all sorts of mining equipment, including those 140 tonne dump trucks etc. Running from Perth, the State Capital of Western Australia and running to the North West of the state, about 1,600 kms / 1,000 miles. That's so far North in Australia that you can hear Indonesian CB radio coming into your car mounted CB ! Because he was driving oversize loads, even with escort vehicles they were only allowed to drive during the daylight hours, just when the heat was worst, for the humans, often in non-air-conditioned trucks and the tyres which failed often on the blistering hot roads. "Ken" was his name, a great old guy, and he would love to sit around talking trucks, tractors, equipment and such. By the time I met him, he'd already been retired for a few years. A lovely guy. He's been gone over 10 years now, but not forgotten. In retirement he drove a 4wd ute (US= pickup) and man could he back a trailer. I had him deliver to me some straw bales etc. When I commented he said about "a lifetime driving double-articulateds". xx

Way too much money and labor to restore that dozer. You could buy a working dozer for a lot less than it would cost to restore that one. At this point it’s just scrap steel, which is real cheap. It’s not sold by the pound. Steel is bought and sold by the ton. If it’s not usable it’s not worth much.

Those saddle clamps on the winch cable will slip if not installed properly, and the way he taught me was the phrase "you never saddle a dead horse"... the saddle part always goes on the live side of the cable & the U-bolt goes on the cut end. he had seen & reviewed cases that had slipped causing major accidents. great job on the recovery.

You guys need a massive dolly that you can construct under heavy things so they can be moved, the type you see tow truck drivers putting under cars but on a massive scale. The one thing we have learnt about this channel is it constantly looking for bigger challenges. So knowing Sparks he would have two sets of wheels on a bogie assembly and then eye beams as the connecting beams between them. One set of short eye beams for when the rig is just being moved around and a larger set for when they need to be used.

I stumbled upon your channel while watching Adventures with Purpose (love those guys!) and I've literally gotten nothing accomplished since. I'm obsessed (in a non-creepy fan sorta way)! What you guys do is so cool to watch and pure entertainment. Thanks for sharing. 1.41m subscribers and counting!💪😁👍

Bro, your next build should be a Roach coach to follow you around on these rescues! You should have a massive grill to roast steaks and man food with a beer tapper on the side! (For after hours of course)! That way your crew won't starve on those remote all day pulls! That would rock watching the build and the thing in action!

In the future consider dropping the ripper shank and flipping it on top of the ripper. Then loop your cable up higher on the ripper. That should pick the broken dozer up a bit making dragging it easier. Instead of pulling low and dragging it into the ground more.
