As a Ugandan, this is not an objective potrayal of our current wedding culture. This is the modern equivalent of documenting starving children in the country and making it seem like all children in Uganda are starving. Smh!
@@noname-ni4qi Lies! In Uganda you just need to be determined to marry you'll be surprised by the support people give you! It's a culture here you announce your good news, create a whatsapp group invite friends & families for wedding planning meetings & people will pledge you'll be surprised there's no shame in it cos it's always been like that. People will support you until the last second of the wedding. leaders have issues but this country is very social & united when it comes to culture
I am a Ugandan too and I had a much simpler wedding with no debt at all. There was nothing to prove to anyone including my friends and in-laws . I don’t think we need regulation to govern this . This is a personal decision and we must teach our kids the same and expect the right attitude from them too
I mean, I see people saying this isn't news (which is fair but I disagree. Why does world news always have to be about depressing subjects?) but the other people...
To Nancy Kacungira, the narrator, the word “modern” to refer to a “big white wedding, “ is wrongly used! “White” has no monopoly on “modernity. I see plenty of modernity in Ugandan cultural weddings, wrongly and conveniently referred to as “traditional,” in contrast to “western imports.”
Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is above rubies. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." - Matthew 13:44-46
Not all, but why shud a woman end up in an expensive marriage wen even u don't have your own house, ladies think for sure.... Pipo will eat and enjoy after yu will suffer with debts
Audience, at 4:50 the booty shot by the photographer...Lol If I comprehended correctly. Price for the wedding: 400,000,000.00 UGX = 108,488.11 USD. Very great price and beautiful setup... If I'm wrong, someone please correct me? I need to speak on this message at 12:15. You shouldn't have to be pressured into a large expensive wedding, especially if you can't afford it. Rule of thumb, "Don't ever spend above your means"... I live by this daily in my life, and had lived and done very well. Don't loan, if you don't have it to begin with... Now pass this own..

Whatever floats their boats... Just be sure the river does not run dry... They sorta waist money on things that they do not need. A lot like the rest of the world. I love Uganda just the same though. 😄
Rita the planner has lied...she, "said five years ago people would only invite 80 guests or less"...that is a big fat lie...Ugandans have always had big weddings since a long time because they have big families.. pple who do these proframmes should always have adequate research about the programmes they want to feature..you make Ugandans look desperate for clout. Thank you
Marriage is about love and not lavish Ceremonies. Why get into large debt that is going to put a big strain on a couple at the begging of their Married Life together . Spend on what you can afford and don’t worry about what people think . It’s about two people being happy together and not about how much they spent on the Wedding . No one can buy their way into Heaven and no one can buy happiness so please stop trying .
This is beautiful, but not wise to spend our of your means. Reminds me of some Nigerian weddings.... I once went to one where there were about 500 guests, and your dare not leave your chair or you'll come back and it's occupied by other people lol
SmedleyDouwright Cultural appropriation is actually a neutral term not signifying racism, but just the act of using culture in alien environments or by people who don't have a connection to the culture. It's only really an issue when done disrespectfully, but is often used a blanket negative term.
Dear BBC You need to review what have you done against DDLC. It's NOT SUITABLE FOR PLAYERS UNDER 13 YEARS OLD OR THOSE WHO EASILY DISTURBED. But, WHY YOU SO DARE TO BLAME IT AND/OR TEAM SALVATO INSTEAD SAYING IT WAS PARENTS' FAULT FOR NOT GUIDING THEIR CHILDREN WHILE PLAYING IT?! HOW MANY PLAYERS WHO PLAYED IT AND LOVED IT?! You can't count how many DDLC fans are upset because your faulty news! DDLC is solely FOR EVERYONE ABOVE 13 YEARS OLD, NOT FOR KIDS AS MANY PARENTS THINK!!!! Even Team Salvato warned it while starting DDLC for the first time! It's even NOT AN ANIMATED GAME! It's AN ANIME VN!!! DON'T JUDGE THE BOOK FROM ITS COVER!!!! WHEN WILL YOU LEARN ABOUT THAT!!!! If you still insist to blame DDLC, I dare you to blame other anime that seems "violent", like Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, etc. Sorry if I an too harsh, but you need to review and rewrite it ASAP. Don't make the same mistake.
1. No one has REAL thousand guests/relatives/friends who really care about them it is just a facade. We have seen this over and over whenever someone is rich a lot of people do show up in your life but when things take a wrong turn, well mostly you will be left alone. Knowing this fact, this makes it a matter of just stroking their own ego to show off with this huge thing. Hence a waste in my opinion 2. Uganda is still a developing country that has huge levels of poverty and economic inequalities and having such an extravaganza is kind of a slap to the majority population that is still struggling, as in a fair society, resources and development should be felt by everyone, not the few top minority elites. 3. They say you cant put a price to love, I tend to disagree with this being a perfect example. That's just unnecessary and complete waste.
I mentioned up above that Uganda is actually much more diverse than many European nations in terms of ethnic groups which would make it almost impossible to be mono-cultural. Google provides pretty quick results, probably as fast as you typed your comment, try it out.
T Riddle. It would be monocultural had it not been for the British Invasion that brought in thousands of Indians and Europeans. Uganda is far from monoculturalism. A 14 min video is not going to show you all the Ethnic make up of Uganda. So please do your research before you make comments.
Oh good God why as a TV Licence payer do I have to pay for this utter nonsense. We are not Ugandan and we are not in Uganda. How does this remotely relate to me and how my money has been spent as a tax payer. Also as a taxpayer I do not like the BBC's extremely Communist standpoint and acts against the interest of democracy and the rule of Law in out country. I thought the BBC was supposed to be impartial and unbiased as a company that can in tax the populace. The government should end the TV Licencse as the BBC is increasingly out of touch with the taxpayer and many many people resent paying it and one day it will end, better to do it before it collapses.
