I wish I could just watch a 10 minute loop of her running - she make it look so seamless and easier than what I feel when I run
@cosmicsoul8042
@cosmicsoul8042 3 года назад
These people make it look so easy but when I'm in the treadmill it's a whole different thing. It looks as if their body is so light that they are using little to no energy, meanwhile when I'm on the treadmill I feel like a sandbag lol.

Exactly! All I hear is THUMP THUMP THUMP even though I'm trying to keep proper form? Makes me feel heavy and clumsy af
@cosmicsoul8042
@cosmicsoul8042 3 года назад
@@sheesherwhiz3846 yes, exactly. Next time stretch for at least 5 minutes and then warm up at a comfortable walking pace on the treadmill for at least 10 minutes, after the 10 minutes start jogging, running, or whatever you want. I noticed that whenever I stretch for a good 5 minutes I am able to keep jogging for over 30 minutes. Stretching does help a lot.

I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill and I didn’t realize how heavy I sound until I took out my headphones 😅. It sounded like I was stomping

@@marishamcdowell552 same here, it's pretty loud but all the background noise masks my stomps lol. It's been 10 months since I posted this and let me say that my running has improved a lot, I feel lighter and can now run for a few miles.

This is exactly what I needed to see! I often see people at the gym with super long strides when on the treadmill. I have a shorter stride and thought that I had been doing something wrong. Seeing this, while I need to work on a few other areas, helped me realize that my foot placement was where it was supposed to be. Thanks!

So true, I also have a shorther stride, even tho I am tall and have long legs. I also thought that is a wrong way of doing it, that is why I was chehcking these type of videos.

I usually held onto the console handles when I ran but after the tips to look straight ahead and keep your shoulders back I finally let go of them. I feel like I was going to fall at first but I fought the urge to hold onto the handles and I’m finally getting the hang of running.

I feel super shy in the gym. I couldn’t do a lot of exercises plus don’t run on the treadmill. Could you give tips to overcome that shyness?
@evicaf4e
@evicaf4e 2 года назад
Heyy! I also started going to the gym last week after a 5 year break up. I usually go hiking into the mountains, its my favorite type of meditation. Also I know I am capable, but after many years I forgot a lot of excersises and also a good posture and that is why I am shy in the gym. 1. people are there to workout, no one cares actually. I myself never judge someone in the gym, because I am happy people care for their body so at least they came. 2. try to engage with machines, even tho you dont know how to assemble it. We all learn and make mistakes. If you dont try it, you will not grow and learn. 3. Before you do anything try to work on your posture. 4. Look for yt videos and try to learn from them, even if that means that you will have to look it up while in the gym. 5. Make slow steps, you dont need to know everything and you dont need to develop a whole serious rutine in one week. 6. Make an "easy" plan for what you want to do in the gym. Let it be simple - the exercises you are familiar with, so that you will gain some confidence in the gym and be motivated. 7. At least you choose to come into the gym, many people dont work out at all. And also people who are going there for years also dont know everything. Idk if this helped you, but I wish you the best.
@evicaf4e
@evicaf4e 2 года назад
And also excersising should be fun, you should never feel like it is dragging you down. Do what makes you happy, if you are feeling mentally good in the gym you will progress quicker.

Fasten the safety clip to your dress, make sure it pulls off the switch if you tend to fall. Then you ll be confident. Try not to look down , look straight, start with low speed, increase as you go comfortable.
@ThaStonedGardner
@ThaStonedGardner Месяц назад
Maybe I should record higher speed running from the side, see if I'm overstriding. I feel like I probably am when I kick the speed up. I'm working on getting my mile time down, and then my two and three mile times, but the first mile I try to run as hard as I can. When I first started running again about six months ago my mile time was over 13 minutes and I had to walk parts of it. Now I'm at 8:45 starting at speed 6 and working my way up to 8.2 or 8.3 to finish hard. (After a good warmup of course.) ((May not be fast for some of y'all, but I smoked for 22 years, still vape, and hadn't done much cardio in couple years.)) But when I'm at running at 7-8 speed, sure my legs are going faster, but I also feel like I'm trying to keep them in the air a little longer. Is that overstriding? Idunno. I do know that if I run super slow, like airborne shuffle status, my stride is super closed and ,y feet are barely off the ground. So it makes sense to me that when I'm running very fast, my stride is longer and my feet are off the ground for a longer period of time. If I just had to do the same stride I'm doing at speed 5, at speed 8, that my legs would be moving faster than is physically possible for my body. My hip flexor would explode. Thoughts?

I'm surprised you didn't include one of the most important part of running - where to land on the feet. Do we land on our toes, balls of our feet, or mid back portion of our feet, or the heels?
@passivelyobsessive5460
@passivelyobsessive5460 3 месяца назад
basically incorporating the tips here, you should naturally be landing in the right spot. they may have not specifically mentioned where to land to avoid people overthinking it. small/shorter strides, tall posture, arms back = you got it!

Ik it's been 8 months but you should know that when you're overweight, your excess weight can stress your knee joints if you're running. You should instead jog or walk, and if you still want something intense, without worrying about your knees, cycling or swimming is your best bet. Cheers.
