I was straightening consistently for a few months. At the beginning of this month, I did two strand twists for two weeks and was immediately getting single strand knots. I was like NOPE! and straightened and trimmed my hair. I know being a straight natural is not for everyone, and there are probably ways to prevent single strand knots while my hair is in its natural state, but it's working for me! And my hair has flourished, so I appreciate your videos!! 🤗

I am very glad that I found this channel. I have been natural and avoiding heat for years now and my hair is breaking very badly, I have tried everything, the texture in the back is so thick that it tangles and breaks, meanwhile the front is way looser and longer and easier to manage. I am thinking about trying these techniques.

So I’ve been blow drying and flat ironing my hair on 400 degrees atleast twice a month - for 4 months now and the heat is not loosening my coils. I’m thinking about going up to 450 degrees. I have low porosity, dense, thick hair. Some strands are fine in the back but most of it is coarse. I want looser coils for easier maintenance and don’t have the best experience with professional cosmetologist. My hair always gets fried when I get it done professionally so I do it myself.
@sierralafaye

You may find that you only have to put 450 on certain parts of your hair and not everywhere, I would definitely experiment with small sections first!

I also oiled and seal the flat iron and cleaned the stove. Next time I flat iron my hair....no smell. With all the products we put in our hair, we forget that those products transfer over to our flat iron and it can coat the plates and cause the smell. So try cleaning your flat iron. It might help.

I understand girl, you can def get breakage if you don’t train your hair correctly but you can say that if you don’t take care of your natural hair in general correctly so it’s just all about how you care for your hair!

Get a keratin treatment. Heat training is obsolete and eventually damaging. Keratin crystallizes and protects the hair when heated.

Keratin treatment is beneficial but for people (like me) who have scalp conditions the keratin can cause irritation or excess dandruff. Anyone who has a sensitive scalp should always do a patch test first :).
