I am a cancer survivor and lost a lot of weight so I have loose skin in my arms. I use to be self-conscious about it. Now I just don't care. I'm 65 and alive. So I proudly wear my sleeveless shirts and dresses--bat wings and all.
My arms used to look so great, people thought I was an athlete. I never worked out, I didn’t play sports, it was just how I was built. And because I didn’t exercise, my arms gained flab. But it didn’t stop there. My mom got cancer and the stress of potentially losing my mom triggered my psoriasis. Thank God, she is still with us 15 years later, saw me get married and have children. But I still have psoriasis plaques all over, and hyperpigmentation. I long for the days when I had flabby but clear skin. I’m trying to count my blessings, but I still hide everything and dread the heat of summer. I told my mom that when she was first born, her mom gave birth to her. After several surgeries, chemo, and radiation, she has given birth to herself. Life is beautiful, lindacroyt4966! All the best!
My arms are like my face...freckles and wrinkles. If people don't like it, then don't look. I am the way I am, so too bad. You're looking your usual gorgeous self. Thank you for the video.
I find hat other women are the ones looking at the "aging skin" of other women and compare. Fortunately, men are not interested in our lumps , bumps and crepey skin,. Ha Cheers and thanks for the video
I figure not many people are looking at women over 70 anyway. Let em look somewhere else, if I like what I’m wearing, that’s all that matters. One of the benefits of being older.
I live in a very hot, humid climate, so we wear lots of sleeveless dresses and shirts, I’ve found that a sheer, long scarf flung smartly around my shoulders takes care of any little problems. Also, they help in the air conditioned restaurants, and stores.
I wear what I want to wear. I'm 62 and at this point in my life I couldn't care less what others think. I wasted to much time in my youth worrying about what others thought and I was gorgeous with a beautiful body but didn't see myself that way. Now, I am what I am, don't like it don't look.
Gosh, I was dealing with this myself today! I decided to blow it off & said to myself most women wished they looked as good as I do at 68 years old. Then I said GOD has blessed you with good health so STOP IT already! Thanks for the video. 😊
Yeah, I got that.... ..flabby, wrinkly arms! 😢 I agree that cap sleeves are the worst. Either show it or don't as far as sleeve length goes. A bit of self-tan helps too. On the legs as well, to hide cellulite. Being a woman is tough, lol 😅
You will all hate me 😉 I don’t care about what others think; I try to hide my upper arms with appropriate clothing. I have lost a lot of weight and I am not done yet. I will have surgery to get rid of the extra skin because it’s important for ME. I don’t want to hide with my clothing.
I wore a shorter more fitted kimono today. Not to hide my arms but because it’s a beautiful pattern. Wore it with wider leg modern flowy pants and it was just the right amount of volume. I felt great in it !
I wear light-weight, quarter-length-sleeved shirts during the summer to hide crepey skin on my upper arms. I lost 60 pounds a couple of years ago but was left with some loose, crepey skin due to the loss and age-I’m 69. Working out with weights has provided definition but the compromised skin remains. Oh, well-at least my face and neck look good for my age.
My arms are very wrinkly and I have saggy batwings . I feel I don’t have the arms I deserve because I’m slim and work out with weights too. For health and aging well rather than looks, but I’d love my arms to look more toned than they do. Shoulder issues definitely cramp my style when using weights. If I’m really hot I show my arms, but if possible I wear a loose shirt as a light jacket.
We all had our time of being young and fit, not a care in the world. Wore whatever we wanted and had nothing to hide. Now it’s the time of accepting who we are, regardless of what everyone else thinks. No one cares about our arms, just us. I’m sorry, but I earned every wrinkle and mark, I remain the age I am and proud of it. Love my silver hair too 🙂🙂
Its time clothing stores adapted young clothes for older women. If a mini dress could be made in a knee length style or a sleeveless dress with a short sleeve. Then we could be trendy as well as stylish for our age. An older woman who looks stylish, looks amazing.
I agree…I like a long sleeve white shirt with rolled arms. Mostly because it helps keep the sun at bay😎 I am pale and am 66 so I try to wear hats to keep the sun off of my face.
Can you show how you do your weight exercises. I am in my seventy’s 🇬🇧 I truly have seen most😁 I am just interested to see different exercises, I may have missed some. The best advice as you mentioned is don’t care/worry, celebrate who you are and GOD created you to be😁😁👏👏
Yes i also don’t like showing my arms because they are not only winkled, flabby and lots of freckles from years of sunning (includes chest area, shoulders). My solution is wearing as suggested lots of lite weight shirts (gauze, linen and 100% cotton). Of course when it’s blazing hot I relent and will wear sleeveless. 😢Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I know I shouldn’t care but I guess i do😢. Psst I’m over 70 and use to have great arms - things change and we adopt.
Appreciate your videos. A woman who is 50 plus can look fashionable, but she must (meaning me) refuse to approach creating an outfit with 'how to hide this, how to hide that.' That is zero fun. :)
I like the video and the title. I have one friend who wears sleeveless blouses with large arms and it is not flattering. I wear short sleeves but would never consider sleeveless or cap sleeves ( except for a dog walk on hot days) but never for a nice outfit. I don't wear shorts any longer for similiar reasons. My legs are no longer what they used to be. There are so many alternatives for tees and blouses with a short sleeve that look so nice so when arms are no longer appealing, just cover them up. I have 2 blouses that have the same sleeve as the one you are wearing. I feel great wearing them. I usually take a sweater with me to restaurants when the A/C is on and it's cold inside and blistering hot outside.
Just give your arms some love, plenty of moisturiser and a gradual tan and show your arms. No one notices arms, it's just us who draw attention to our arms.
So glad I found you. 74 here and crepey thin arms, although well toned as I do weights. I tried on a light blue sleeveless pantsuit yesterday for a business dinner and the 20 something’s in the store were all over how gorgeous I looked. Do you think they were looking at my crepey arms? I’ve decided not to give a damn. Thank you for this video.
TY so much for this, I hate my arms, I've been doing a little weight arm excercises, which helps a little, but the older I get, they just look more crepe/or cottage cheese like, can't explain, but so glad you touched up on this, I agree with all your contents here, I'm 62 and just accepting the way I look more and more!
I have hated my upper arms my whole life, the only time I didn’t is when I have been very skinny, and then they just looked normal. But no one truly is looking or caring! I notice other people’s but only because I’m jealous that they don’t care.
Just don't care, same with swimsuit, just enjoy the summer! If people want to see beautiful bodies, just tell them to go see marble statues at the museum!
Your introduction made me laugh, thank you. After 18 years of regular weightlifting, my skin texture has changed anyway, yet I am strong and healthy. Your advice to get started is spot on.
I'm choosing to let them hang out - lol. I just started weights and I'm already very active so there's really no point in trying to hide 'em. This is literally the first year I got the crepe on my arms. I was horrified. It happened RIGHT when I turned 60.
Finally! Someone who’s first advice is the very best - don’t care!!! No one is looking at your arms, and if they are, that’s their problem. Aging is not something to be embarrassed about. Embrace your age.
I can’t use weights any more (used to do weight training) due to medical problems, I live with chronic pain so if I get up and pain levels are low I don’t care about my arms , how I feel is way more important, if I do want to hide then something shear like fine cotton would be my go to. Love the new cut out fabrics , beautiful and like you say they are airy
Scrawny arms ? If that means skinny don’t hide them. Skinny is good. I hate my fat lumpy upper arms . I exercise daily but I have big flappy arms. My four year old grandson asked me what my hanging arms were🤣🤣
Great advice! ❤ Definitely don't care but also you are right, exercise is all to maintain independence, bone health, confidence... all those good things. Thank you for this fab, common sense video. Xx
Living in South Louisiana, the summers are sweltering and humid. People will just have to endure looking at my arms. Thankfully, they are more flappy in the back, so I don’t actually see them. 😉.
I disagree that kimonos look frumpy. I find them youthful and add dimension to a casual outfit. Plus, it covers my arms when I go sleeveless. I feel uncomfortable when my upper arms are flapping about. It’s the result of 100 lb weight loss.
You provide some great tips! I'm at the place that I don't care anymore. One thing I would say is try to avoid having what where I come from is called a farmer tan. That's when you've been wearing a t-shirt and there's a line of tan where the t-shirt sleeve ends. That's tan and then above that area. It's a slightly or much lighter shade. That draws my eye right away. Just make sure you get some time for your whole arm to tan
I’m 70 I have wings and crepe skin, I have been to Aqua Aerobics 3 times a week for the last 2 months, I’m noticing a difference already and it’s helping my knees….😂
I think it’s okay to look old. Also I like the saying young woman: hair down, skirts up Old woman skirts down, hair up. It feels so good to wear your hair up in a bun or any other updo. No hair touching your face or chin.
I think your top is lovely. I do very much like flutter sleeves. I am very Petite and still slim at 74. I try to dress my age, usually in classic clothing with and individual twist. Not flabby yet, but not comfortable with my arms bare, because I had learned it is not done. Would not dare to wear off the shoulder style. I bought a pretty jumpsuit which looks nice, square neck with straps. Looking for a shrug, just to cover my shoulders.
Amazing video, you are so easy to watch! ( you would be an amazing elementary school teacher ) Some interesting hints and you have convinced me the Kimono/vest is over. They are coming out of closet, I don’t wear them anyway. Thanks
I love the white top you are wearing in this video. You said from Amazon but I only see Walmart link. I like the top with elastic at elbow not the flutter sleeve. It’s the dotted Swiss. Is it still available?
Yes! Weights are good. Going to the gym is good too. I started last August. You can use heavier weights and different types. I can't find the playlist you mentioned . Playlist 14. Is there a link? Think you.
