I did this hike yesterday (27/05/2024)the view is truly amazing, I've never seen anything like it in my life, really really beautiful. It took me 2 hours to climb up and 1.5 hours to come down. However, halfway through, I started feeling insecure, and it started to look more like climbing, with so many rocks and snow, than hiking because I think we went the wrong way (but we followed the blue dots… so I don’t know what happen). In our case, there was still quite a bit of snow, which made the path more dangerous. Eventually, we realized we weren't in the right place, for the view of segla, and we tried to go to the right spot following our instincts (and we were successful) (though I'm not sure if it was through the right path). Going down was really difficult because, as I mentioned, there was a lot of snow, and I think we were actually in danger... luckily, slowly and with a lot of caution, we managed to pass that part safely and then found the trail again to continue the descent. I advise being really careful because Norwegians say it's an easy hike, and I understand that it might be for them. However, halfway through, for me, it became a difficult hike. The day before, I had done the hike in the Lyngen Alps to Blåvatnet Norja, and despite the path being full of stones and rocks, I consider that one easy. In my opinion this one is medium with good weather, and difficult with bad weather/snow Oh and please, I also have a dog and I’ve seen so many reviews of people saying they took their dogs with them… I really don’t think it’s a secure place to bring your dog… I advise being really careful because Norwegians say it's an easy hike, and I understand that it might be for them. Hello, thank you so much for the thorough review of your hike. Did you take the same route as I did? I'm very glad that you made it back safely. The views are truly amazing. There is also a different path directly to Hesten on the back side which I did not check out. Indeed, there is still a lot of snow in the mountains during May and June, depending on how warm it gets. Yes, even easy hikes can be challenging for tourists. It just depends on how common it is for people to hike in the mountains.
wundervolles Video!
Thank you so much, and for watching. Yes even that I live 10 years here It was the first time and this was so nice up there. Will be back in the autumn
Hi Alex, thank you for this wonderful hiking video. The drone work was awesome to watch. I love Norway and Segla was incredible view. Hiking gear advise was very informative too.
