okay, finally someone gave me the right explanation how to use my fingers right on the fader. i was always in basic scratching and wondered how people manage to go 200bpm with their fingers on the fader, but i never knew how to do it right the same way. and im also one of these people with a fast and a slow hand so very big thanks ! i just tried it in a dry way without sound and moving my fingers in the air in the same way, but it feels so natural and right now. next day i will try it out with music but i think it will work :)

dude, once again a 10/10 video. so much valuable, often unexplained, info in here. I'm slowly practising your basic scratches video with the babies and scribbles and it's starting to come together. Would definitely appreciate more examples of basic scratch patterns of that sort, the process of how to get to fast scratching (I think i've been using my arm too much), and a little more about that thumb pressure for scratches like the stab (i find it's either off or too strong). would definitely be interested if you put together a subscription offer that provided drills to work from beginner up... keep up the great work!

The fadermotion is very well explained for a beginner at an enterance level. What I would add is that a lot of people rest or support their faderhand on itself for basic scratches. This way you won't tire out easily and won't cramp up. Another thing good to know for a beginner is that index finger on the fader will give precision from the start while middle finger gives better stability. You can use both, but middle finger or even better using index and middle finger is best since precision comes with training while stability doesn't to that degree. [This goes too far and people starting out really focus on the fun aspect but arguably while more difficult to learn the hamster scratch is better since if you one day will use the volume faders, too for the wah effect or cutting then you will have to use tilted hamster position (or you just buy a mixer with switch option but that feels like cheating.)] The The record hand while generally correct I'd say its 8 o'clock position to 10 o clock position basic. and when you advance its gonna be 8 o clock position to 12 o clock position for sure, especially while beat juggling. here its important that you have your turntable at comfortable height about waist level if its too low you cannot reach 12 o clock with your arm comfortably and if its too high you will have to raise your shoulders or step back... Oof what a paragraph xD Anyways enjoy

Depends! I use a gig bar 2 for smaller events and it has a sound mode! Definitely good for small to maybe medium size events. For larger events, I bring out the intelligent lights, and usually 2-3 singular dance lights such as the ADJ Stinger II, or the vertigo hex from adj

My hand placement, motion on the Crossfader is totally different between my strong and weak hand. If i try and copy the placement of my strong Hand with my weak hand it feels even weirder, not that i can do any Scratches more than Basic going on Intermediate with my weak Hand anyway :)
@DJLiftOFF
@DJLiftOFF 2 года назад
I definitely know what you mean!! Mine was honestly the same. My right hand is much stronger on the crossfader but I was able to get my left almost identical through tedious practicing
@michaeljennings4635
@michaeljennings4635 2 года назад
I'm the same... I think it will always feel different between your strong side/weak side... as your preferred side has had more practice. Looking back I wish I had divided scratch practice between the TWO!! BUT!! for those that know... learning to scratch takes time and dedication. And for me personally I was so pleased when I started getting to a respectable level there was NO way I was going to go thru all that again on the other side!!! As by then I was having WAY 2 much FUN!!! what I've started to do now is allocating a set time on my weak side... but it will always be weaker I think. If I'm enjoying a mix session and really want to scratch but at that point I on my weak side I use the crossfader reverse switch and basically cross arms.... left hand on right deck, right arm under my left on fader. It's become 2nd nature now... but you need to remember to switch it back!!!
@bigdaz7272
@bigdaz7272 2 года назад
@@michaeljennings4635 I tried the crossing the arms thing but it kinda felt just as funky and yes remember to switch the crossfader back after easy to forget, for me at least. I kinda into a bad habit of instant doubling 90% of the time so i can scratch on my favourite side lol. Gotta try and force myself to use my weak side more though, only way i won't suck in the end :)
@michaeljennings4635
@michaeljennings4635 2 года назад
@@bigdaz7272 to be honest... I'm MORE than happy that I can scratch!! Even if it's only on one side... The way I see it is at least we have put in the time and effort to be able to do it!! Which straight away puts us in a higher bracket than the " easy blend track to track djs " I'm not judging them... but for me the art of TURNTABALISM is all about the SCRATCH!!! To quote the EGYPTIAN LOVER " WHAT IS A DJ IF HE(SHE) CAN'T SCRATCH!! " very good question. I would be so bored if I couldn't!!! Keep up with the journey mate... Show them watcha got!!!! PE 👊🏻

Yoo! My dominant hand is my right hand! I’ve always found it easier to control the fader with my right/dominant hand. However, for chirp scratches and flares, I’m much cleaner at doing them with right hand on the vinyl lol. So I’d recommend practicing with both hands on the crossfader and vinyls! Sorry for the delay! I honestly feel most comfortable with my dominant/strong hand on the cross fader and my off hand on the platter. However, it took a while to get comfortable with my weak hand on the platter, but I’m still 10x better with my strong hand on the crossfader so it works out.
