Love this! Do you have any tips or advice for a mom like me who had a rough year and fell behind? How to get back on track. I have kids ages 7,6,5,4,2,1. Don’t know where to even start. 😩

Thank you for talking about grace and it’s okay to watch tv now and then! I feel like it’s shamed on these days!

Yes! We of course always monitor what they watch...but sometimes you just need them to sit for a bit while you get something done or work with another child. 😊

We follow a routine too. Schedules are too stringent for us. I think training your mind to favor a routine gives room for the grace you’re going to need to teach and love them well. I’d love to see your routine for a school day with all the kids. Also, I’ve learned the value of having a running list of movies/shows/videos that are applicable to what we are currently learning so when I’m done I can turn those shows on and not feel guilty. I have my oldest write a few sentences and draw a picture about it and my younger draw a picture and tell me about it later. Our youngest is 2 so he just does what he wants 😂

I have 2 boys 21 months apart (just turned 3 and almost 5 right now) and my issue is that they always want to do what the other is doing, even if it’s not on their level! This goes both ways so even the older one will want to do what I get out for the younger one to do. We are getting ready to start a more involved language arts curriculum with my older son and I’m already worried about how the younger is going to react to him not being able to do it along with his brother. Do you have any tips for that? Love your channel!

Yes! So much about the routine rather than schedule! To me a schedule was so stifling and defeating. So much of this, especially the talk about one on one time, resonated with me. It looks and sounds so similar over here!

I adore your comment about routines compared to schedules! We're new to the game and my older child has special needs. We've gotten into a subject routine and we just fit in lunch and cleaning around it as we need to. But he knows now which subjects we do and I can have the freedom to give him breaks where he needs them.

I completely agree that kids learn SO much from their siblings when they are growing up together! And I think routines are especially helpful when you have a LOT of littles. My Cyrus really thrives on routine as well. I was thinking recently about that same thing that even when kids are really close in age, when they are young, they are NOT on a similar level at all. My boys are 20 months apart, and I've thought that we'll end up doing a lot of schoolwork together, and maybe keeping them at a similar level...but at their current ages, with Glenn as a baby, barely starting to crawl, and Cyrus coloring, cutting, gluing, totschooling...it really feels like a big age gap at the moment, even though I know in the long run it won't be.

Right?! I like doing things together but their attention spans and level of abilities are so different that it makes it challenging right now. But we will get there. One day they will all be able to do sit longer and read and write. ❤😁 I'm just trying to enjoy these little years as much as possible. ☺ Can't wait to see your video! 🤓
