I used the 4 weeks to read one with my son(didn’t even finish it) but he was reading at 4... now he reads the tasks in his Kindergarten curriculum by himself. Lol he turned 5 in May and I had started a K curriculum (that I saw a flashsale on Facebook for) when lockdown happened... let’s see where we go from here.

Wonderful. I know this is an old video but i just started homeschooling my 5 year old. I did already buy hooked on phonics kits, the Scholastic Jumbo Kindergarten Workbook and a spectrum math workbook. But we will be using the library for math and science materials! Thank you ❤

We use a lot of free resources so I spend my budget on books I want that we can’t find at our library and HP INSTANTINK 🙌🏻 It is a life and budget saver for the family that prints nearly everyday 🙋🏻‍♀️

We used to use the library all the time our first year and a half homeschooling until we brought home some not so friendly bugs in 2 of our books. Now I scour the $1 section at my local book store as much as I can or use thrift books, ebay, and Amazon

Aleks math is online and mastery. I have friends who have loved it and used TT previously. They have talked me into it and I'm doing that this year. I used TT previously but it's not working for my 3rd child. And I agree with library! Unit studies for science are awesome. For younger kids just checking out science books and watching videos is just fine. Maybe do a simple experiment here and there or cook/bake. And I use 100 easy lessons for reading to. It's great. For my 3rd child I used that and Explode the Code and that was it. Great video! I have been watching daily! I've been homeschooling for 10 years. I have 2 big kids and 2 little ones and I feel like I have a foundation but need new ideas lately. Thank you for all the fabulous ideas!🌻🌻

Also I tend to ask my kids what they want to learn before I start planning so I can have that in my mind. My older 2 loved history and my younger 2 love science so I have accommodated that.

I’m not a homeschool momma (2020 homeschool grad) but, Schoolhouse Teachers is a pretty affordable website. You pay a bottom line fee, and you get access to all of their classes. It’s extremely frugal for bigger families with kids in multiple grades. You okay the same for one kid doing two classes as you do for 12 kids taking all of their classes. The offer preschool classes all the way through high school, with extra curricular type classes as well. I didn’t use it for everything, but a lot of their classes were super awesome! They have different recourses for different types of learners. Videos, podcasts, ebook style courses, or courses you print out. I’m not sure what it’s like as a teacher, but as a homeschool student it was incredibly helpful!! Just thought I’d throw that out there!!

Goodness you read my mind. I have been research all over the place for a affordable budget friendly curriculum for my kids. I am the type that freaks without a curriculum because left to my own devices I will overthink something and make it not as enjoyable with the execution. I want my kids to enjoy this experience without me having a breakdown lol. With the uncertainty of these times I just can’t in good conscience spend so much on curriculums with 2 kids. So thanks so much for this advice that came at the right time for me. I would like to know as your mentioned Charlotte mason do you use a sort of morning light work routine or a basket. I am trying to figure out if it is a affordable way to do one. 20 a month for some of these subscriptions just isn’t feasible right now. Also any curriculum for reluctant writers. My son (8) is simply not able to really pull his thoughts to write even with prompt or picture prompts. Thanks again for these awesome videos.

I also have a circle time binder video coming out later this week with a freebie to help you mamas especially during these times. I think 8 is still very young so I would try to focus more on copy work. Copy bible verses then drawing a picture or copy poems out of a poetry book. Just a simple journey and pencil. I don't tend to focus on writing until around 4th grade. I believe a strong reading, spelling and grammer are better to focus on at this age.

Oh! I’m totally going off on a ramble haha, but the old school American Girl Doll historical doll books are fantastic for your little girls (or even little boys) to use for reading, but them branch off and learn the historical background. Same for books like little house on the prairie!!!

Thank you for this! I’m freaking out a bit about curriculum...especially with SO MANY OPTIONS!! I just printed out the good and beautiful level 5 (at work 😬) as a review...there are a LOT of pages! I went ahead and ordered the level 6 instead of the getting the PDFs. I plan to do lots of books as well! Heading to check out Lydia now! ☺️

I've used a lot of the same resources and this video is getting me excited about using them again with my 6 year old. I didn't know The Good and The Beautiful had free guides. Thanks for that tip. We won't tell the school about that printing your husband was doing. 🤫 Lol!

Gosh you are so right! I kinda forgot about following my sons interest! Thank you for that reminder. Gonna go to our library website and look for books about birds now. He is so into birds. He will stand outside on the balcony with his binoculars and watch forever!

Wonderful! There is so much too learn about birds! Remember don't only think science maybe even try getting a notebook and sketching birds or writing stories about birds. There is so much! Best of luck on your homeschool year.

I'm glad you liked it anyway, but you're right that homeschooling can be very expensive. Nietzsche said "no journey is too great when one finds what he seeks." Similarly I think that no cost it too great if it WORKS for you and your family and you get the RESULTS that you want.

Hey Wendy!!! Coming from Lydia's channel, love what you're sharing here. I've got a little one about to be 2, so I'm just looking into teaching numbers and letters and pre-school prep. But you ladies got me wanting to home school! If only, I didn't have to work so much...I'm praying about it! Thanks for the awesome resources!

Welcome!! Thank you for watching. Two is still very young you really don't need much your idea is exactly what I recommend. Don't stress working do what you can with where you are at. When I first started homeschooling, I was working full time as a nurse and could only do it 3 times a week and that is perfect for a two year old. Best of luck mama.
