How To Homestead From Wherever You Are 

#shorts Did you know that you can homestead wherever you are and that you don’t need a huge chunk of land to homestead?
When I first started to homestead, I was back in the city with a small backyard surrounded by the hustle and bustle of city life. I started to homestead where I was at first by sourcing my food locally. I researched local farms and began to go directly to the farms to purchase my food. Next, I began to make kefir and venture in to fermented foods. This may not be considered homesteading but a lot of homesteaders I follows did it, so I wanted to try! I began to garden and built garden boxes in my backyard where I cultivated strawberries, tomatoes, and herbs. These little changes turned my city home into my own homestead. I didn’t need 100 acres to do what I was doing. I also ventured into the worlds of canning and raw milk this way too! Haha!
If you want to homestead, shopping local for foods and other goods is a great place to start! Make the effort. Meet your local farmers and see what they have to offer. Learn to sew. Be resourceful. Build what you need. DIY. Find your passion. To me, homesteading has been about finding my passions.
Becoming self sufficient can become a passion and you would be surprised the skills you learn and the adventures you have along the way!
