Everything you need to know to hook up a generator to your house or to power devices directly. What they don’t teach you at the store. Reliance transfer switch: www.amazon.com... AC works adapter cable: www.amazon.com...
Thanks for the tips, I did buy me a pigtail for my suitcase generator. I hang the pigtail over the transfer box, so as not to misplace it. This last storm I had no issues hooking up the generator to the house with out using long extension cords. Was so proud of my Westinghouse 2000 suitcase generator, ran is 9 hours straight on 1 1/3 gal gas
Great info and knowledge sharing ! My plans for an off grid vacation property include the small Champion in your arsenal and some LifePo4 batteries coupled with solar. A small 4-circuit transfer panel will help with sunny and rainy day power. I'm in design mode now and looking forward to the upgrade next spring. 👍
That’s a great combination! I think the champion 2500 is seriously underrated by people and I think it’s a great unit for the price point and being dual fuel! I’m very happy with it and love its portability. I also own a few Bluetti solar generators ( lifepo4) batteries and this can definitely charge them right up. Thanks for watching!
@@DJ-vm2zi those are some great questions. Keep it as far from the house as possible but as long as you’re about 10 feet away and not near open windows and doors you should be ok. If you’re running on propane it’s a little cleaner than gasoline and will produce less fumes but still keep it away from the house as much as is feasable. You don’t want any carbon monoxide to seep in through windows or door seals or gather under overhangs. Also keep a carbon monoxide detector in the house when it’s running to be extra safe. While you can technically run a generator in the rain it shouid at least be somewhat protected. I like to put a sounding table over it to shelter it from direct rain and still allow good airflow. Thanks for watching
Be careful with cheap 240 volt generator cords and adapters. If you lose the neutral wire connection you’ll wind up having 240 volts on your outlets that can cause what ever you have plugged in to burn out or cause a fire.
@@DJ-vm2zi that’s a good question and I’m not totally positive but my guess is it will either trip the breaker on the generator or just simply not work but that’s just a guess. Thanks for watching
