Thanks! I have been having static issues with my 2600. Turns out that removing the RF interference filter i bought did the trick. I saw that you were not using one and figures I would give it a shot. worked like a charm
I know this was posted a super long time ago but I gotta say THANKKK YOU FOR THE CHANNEL ADVICE, I couldn't figure out what was wrong and I was just on the wrong channel :b I never would have figured that out!
3:03 that's the exact VCR i have, the sanyo VWM-260 model or somewhere around that. The tv components on mine dont work, and whenever i use the VCR, it either eats or snaps the tape.
Yep. I have a Polaroid 26" LCD TV I bought from Circuit City and Atari 2600 works perfectly on it. I just got a new TCL Roku TV and hooking Atari up to it looks like crap now. So far I bit the bullet and hooked up the Atari Flashback 7, but I need my Atari working properly on the TCL Roku TV!!
Possible ways to remedy the video: "Ultimate Atari Video", an ADVANCED (soldering required) internal adapter board. OR try another chap LCD until you find one that works.. Sometimes older LCDs actually do better, because they were designed to handle "out of spec" video devices like old game systems. (The 2600 did not output a "clean" NTSC signal like say a VCR or Playstation 2 would do)
I noticed you didn't mention the Colecovision controller. Do you not know about it, or what? Always best to keep a VCR, even if you don't have any tapes.
So does the atari already come with the color cords attached cause we have a tv that just needs it to have color cords but i don't know if our tv has an adapter slot what do i do if it doesn't have an adapter slot for that silver thing?
Well try both channels 3 and 4 there should be a switch to change between them. Are you using the original RCA cable that came with the system? You may check that its working and not disconnected on the inside. If you can try anther TV (none HD). Pray its not broken. oh are you using a VCR?
What type of video cable atari 2600 uses if curios because in Romania in 1970 there were not any computers and that type of video cable from Atari 2600 is something unknown for me and i have a lot of questions about it
Thanks!! Helped us out. I have my childhood Atari 2600. We needed the cable adapter and we were good to go! Know any good place to get joysticks that will work? Ours are not original and don’t do very well.
I can't get mine to turn on I recently bought a brand new 4k TV and the channel 2 to 4 are TV shows and the only set up I can do is hdmi I have rcas in the back on my TV and the spot to plug the atari into the back of the TV the one that screws in but I can't figure out how to get it on the screen?
I keep getting static that cuts in and out. I have to keep fucking with the cable by screwing and unscrewing it and still I only get static. What the hell am I supposed to do?
@Butter I must know: does this method work for an Atari 5200 with 5200 cables and console? Like, could I theoretically get my 5200 to work on my Vizio TV through my VCR? I tried everything and I can’t get it to work, including the Antenna TV scan solution. The only method I haven’t tried today is getting a Coax adapter cable and connecting the console to the TV without a Switch box. Any help would be appreciated. In the mean time, I might order a Coax and try that.
it should work with any console that uses RF cables, but keep in mind some newer TVs will no longer display at 240p. Does the VCR display anything like VHS movies on your tv?
@@DemonGunLiz Ah, well that's good to know at least. My TV was manufactured back in 2007 according to the label on the back. Yes, I tried connecting my VCR to multiple inputs and in between each time I did so, I would try turning the console on while on that input. If that didn't work, I'd play a VHS tape in my VCR, stop it, and then turn on the console, and of course switch between the single-digit channels I had for that input. I ended up ordering a coax adapter earlier today after finding out my parents don't have one still. Should come by Tuesday, and once I try setting the 5200 up again, I could update you on progress if you're interested
@@DemonGunLiz I did. On the back of my VCR, I have the option to switch it between Channel 3 or 4, but I can also switch the channel for my VCR using the front buttons, and switch between Channel 1 to 9. I tried both channels 3 and 4, and I believe I tried both on the AV and Cable input. I guess my TV is just a lot different than yours, but to be fair you were setting up a 2600 in this video, not a 5200.
My Atari VCS/2600 looks like crap on my TV, I used the little RCA to coax adapter, the TV shifts the picture down to where the bottom half of the image is cut off. Plus it's pretty blurry. I'm going to have to find a different method.
@@camthesaxman3387 the system could be out of adjustment, there are a few adjustments inside the system that you can turn to get rid of a lot of issues. And it very well could be an issue with the TIA chip. But my issue is the TV itself with lower resolutions (happens with my 2600, Sega Genesis, SNES).
@@camthesaxman3387 the good thing is that they're very simple devices (2-3 chips and diodes and caps), not much to them. there are plenty guides on RU-vid on how to tune up a VCS/2600, and even replace the chips, some models of VCS/2600 used sockets for the chips so it's pretty much a solder free operation unless you need to replace any of the other parts.
Maybe, I know my original one went bad and now I'm using the Radio shack one. You can also try a different RCA cable. Last and worst case scenario you might have to give it a good tear down and full cleaning there definitely should be some good RU-vid videos showing how to do that.
Butter I just bought a new power adapter and shows picture but I do get loud static noise. Would the ones on eBay goo enough or should I buy some with higher build quality.
I don't know what your using or what ones on eBay your talking about. If you can make a video showing what your using and how you have everything set up that would be helpful.
Thanks for reply:) On one hand it’s cool you can find anything on the internet. On the other hand we are witnessing the Apocalypse of main streets worldwide as a result . :/
wolffoetowtech I watched the video on my mobile device with max volume and could hear him fine from one end of the house to the other. Also I wouldn't say that it's out of business nation wide. I just went to my local RS for the mono to f adapter two days ago and they had them in stock for about $2.50 give or take.
Butter I know it was, it’s just funny to me cause now they are gone in 2019. Radio Shack was the place to go for all strange electronic things we all needed, miss Radio Shack in a way at times like these, now I have to wait to get my rf adapter to hook up my Atari 2600 to my OLED
