@@BimBurger like the bootleg controller of yours is actually EU one like we got the eu one you guys have the short boxes other kind of country that controller of yours is not bootleg it just came from diffrent part of world
@@MyersTheDriver No, no, I'm 100% sure it's bootleg. There are other tells. And also I opened it up, you can see the parts are cobbled together replacement parts.
Aside from internals, I like to look for the color of the Sony logo that is present on the front neck of the controller. It's usually a complementary shade of the color palette with the controller you have. For example a Magma Red Edition controller has a lighter shade of red for the emblazoned logo.
I bought a dualshock 4 at launch before I even got my hands on my ps4 and it too came in a larger box. I'm from Canada and that was ages ago though, so I've seen the newer, less wasteful packaging as well. I think they may have actually gotten their hands on legitimate old packaging? Either way the weight difference makes it clear to me that this is a knockoff
@@BimBurger Honestly I don't even consider you incorrect my man. It's a different region, hence different packaging in general. Philippines right? I would be surprised if you guys had the exact same packaging as us especially since you guys speak Spanish like the U.S, while we speak French as a second language.
@@ds90seph Appreciate it, brother. Yes, I'm in the Philippines. Although we don't exactly speak Spanish. We have a shit ton of Spanish words integrated into Filipino - like Filipino for table is "lamesa," which is "the table" in Spanish. But for the most part, they're very distinctly different languages.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the analog sticks. They're stiffer and not as responsive as the genuine controllers. Might be something to do with the deadzone but you lose a lot of accuracy in shooting games. I'd say thats the biggest drawback for bootleg controllers...
You are right I got a bootleg dark steel controller on ebay from a seller that he was keep saying was original… I have immediately returned it because mostly of the analogs sticks weren’t accurate and precise…horrible But the seller refunded me then
Also, it may seem obvious, but if you're using a bootleg or third party ps4 controller, no matter how similar it looks to the actual dualshock 4 controller, its gonna have different internals. Which means that if you use something like a strikepack, or the paddle attachment for the dualshock 4, it's not going to connect because those devices are meant to connect to sony products.
Believe me, I'm 100% against bootlegged controllers just like how I'm against aimbot devices for controllers for games like COD. These sort of devices ruin the legitimacy of what we love to experience which is, of course, video games. Besides, it seems bootlegged controllers break more easily compared to the official copyrighted Sony controller. Why pay $30 for a controller that has a high chance of failing on you? By doing so, you're only supporting the frauds into developing more of these sort of scams.
Idk if you said this, I skipped through most of the vid, sorry but another way to tell if fake is the controller light when if flashed, aka searching for the PS4 if it white it's ok if it turquoise it's fake.
As soon as you showed the DS4 White I knew it was the bootleg. NOt because you showed it, but because of the button colors. DS4 buttons on the second generation TEND to be grey, not pitch black like the first generation. Of course, it's easier to find those things in person though. About the box of the controller, the bootleg tried to mimmick the American Boxing Case, but in that case the "plastic" of the box comes out. There's two original casings for DS4 controllers, the one you showed, and the bigger one the bootleg tried to mimmick. Also, the back of the bigger original box made in America is white, with a transparent plastic on the front. IT's two plastic casings, on the one you showed, it's all clear.
They made them controller like lighter now.. I just look at the sticker in the back.. and what got me that the counterfeit controller comes with charger.. put my PS PRO headset couldn't get connected to the counterfeit PS4 controller.. got my money back...
I had a fake. Only got 5 or 6 full charges out of it, then it refused to connect. Flashing light and then nothing. Tried replacing the battery with and official, and I also tried resetting it. Nothing worked. So I kept all the parts inside (even the screws) and threw the rest of it away. That's what I would suggest everyone do if they have a controller that dies and can't be fixed.
Basically all on ebay are fake unless from a trusted seller who describes where they got it ( if they are truthful? In the UK you can only trust game, currys and argos.
i went to ebay for a ds4 and ended up with a fake controller. it was completely obvious when i played warzone and i would press left or right and the screen would take 2-3 seconds to start moving lol. it was insane lag. i plugged back in my old controller and no lag.
The easiest to spot I think is the fake ones have Japanese writing in the front and the legit ones being sold in the Philippines have Chinese writing. Maybe....
@@dinesh_k7651 I really shouldn't recommend a bootleg but if you don't think you'll need wireless controllers and you're fine with something that might break on you eventually, go for it. Fyi, my fake controller broke maybe 9 months ago and I've just used it for spare parts ever since.
I got one of these fakes from a non eBay website, they had all colors, all looked good.. and it was a ton cheaper, so that threw me.. I just thought it was a god deal. I think I paid $39.99.. maybe a bit more, was just trying to get it a little cheaper, didn't even know the Chinese were faking these... seem like a lot of effort for jack shit. I bought it from the address below.. it took like 4 or 5 weeks to arrive... literally "slow boat from China" story. When I picked it up in box, I knew right away something was off.... the the controller itself is too light... I had a glacier white one that cam with my PS4 when it was new.... so I immediately noticed that the plastic on the back side felt wrong, there was very odd texture to it..an it was an annoying texture to boot. The I clicked the sticks.. definitely not the right click feel or sound... I never got as far as using it with a game. I wanted to use it with my PC... but nope. I cant get it to work even with a strait cable.. it act like it charges, changing from orange to blue I think. Anyway, I emailed them and told them its a fake, and that its a crime to sell it as the real OEM stuff... told them U.S. customs would love to hear about boats containers bringing in thousands of illegal goods.. they refunded within. I received a re-fund that same afternoon.. just any email that said "REFUNDED" ..No apology, just "REFUNDED" .. so they obviously know they are selling bootleg controllers, and crossing their fingers that no one would notice, or threaten legal action. Absolute scumbags... I don't get why they go through all BS using the PS logo, and Sony logo trying to fake us out... when they could have just said "hey, here is a 3rd party controller, we made it as close to the OEM controller as possible. I cant find the link to the website.. but the name in the email the sent me is "Geekpro" It also shows up as " Boss Studio
@@BimBurger Yeah, It was smart of them to price it somewhat close to the regular retail. Just enough of a deal to throw me.. just seemed like too much effort to add all those details for a pad.. I guess they just factor in a certain percentage of people are going to demand money back like I did, and most wouldn't bother. If it hadn't been so light and the texture feeling so wrong, it may have gotten passed me...I no longer had any originals to compare it to, but weight is a very noticeable thing IMO ... good on ya for making the video
Trynna find some info about the bootleg ds4 and yeah this hit my head . But can't afford to buy an original one 😔 so maybe this thing will work . You got a sub from me .
I already bought one . Hahaha its not that bad but the battery is not great 😂 im using it on my phone . And the touch pad is not working , it worked on my moms phone though 😂
After trying out a buncha bootlegs, I can say that they're all very different. Some aim well some don't. Some don't display correct LED lights, some do. Some don't get detected by Bluetooth, some do. It's such a gamble.
I sometimes like having custom controllers made and often times Broken controllers and Bootlegs can work in my favor if I wish to experiment with what shells/buttons/batteries are compatible. It's kinda like a skilled mechanic buying a shitty car. And if given the right parts and resources, is capable of turning it into a working masterpiece.
The d-pad is inconsistent among bootlegs I think. I bought a bootleg ($40 was too good to be true), and the d-pad was much softer than a real Dualshock 4. I have gone through about four legit Dualshock 4's and their d-pad membranes have a much tactile feel fresh out of the box.
Knockoff dualshock 4 controllers have unrefined/jittery analog sticks and L2/R2 buttons and can be really feel when you're gaming Try connecting both the original and knockoff ds4 on PC and check game controller setting/button press checker.
I ended up with one of these, unfortunately. Besides the battery life, the stiffness of the controls, especially the sticks, makes gaming hard. And it didn't take long for the controller to start acting up, doing a different action from the button I would press. Not worth it, and it's hard to spot when purchasing. Showing the difference in packaging will help a lot!
Bought a bootleg, thankfully of good quality, the only drawback I noticed so far was that the plastic seams are a bit sharp in one point. Ori and the Blind forest playing for 4 hours and the controller is fine. (edit 6 hours and still no sign of low battery) Not sure about the touchpad quality, but that may be just how steam does it. I can always try cannibalizing one form the broken supposedly orginal ps4 controller if it's compatible.
The white one is 1st gen ps4 controller. Theres no light on the touch pad. The colours of the buttons and d pad are black. As for the 2nd gen which are the newer ones has light on the touch pad and the colours of the buttons and d pad are grey. When i got my 1st gen ps4, it came with the same controller as your white one. When i changed to ps4 slim, it came with the 2nd gen. Basically 2nd gen is a modified version of the dualshock controller which sony made for a better battery usage.
I bought two controllers claiming they were original. They were priced also at Sony’s price. But they feel a bit different and once I opened them I noticed a big difference. The fake ones don’t have the PlayStation logo on the motherboard. Also the placement of the battery connection is flipped.
Please review one ipega pg 9099 please..and thanks for this informative review.. I've been seeing ds4 posting on lazada saying "original" while you can obviously tell that it's not since it's too cheap for the price.
I bought a sunset orange one mercari for 40. I picked up on the weight difference right away. Noticed the response time on the handles and triggers right away on Sniper Elite 4. The precision was shit and I couldn't snap aim on the targets for shit. I felt like an amatuer newb all over again blaming the controller, lol. A check of the serial number shows a difference on my two dualshocks that I have. The serial number off of my sunset orange clone starts with DZ... the PS dualshocks all start with numbers and the pattern of saftey labels is different. The final confirmation for me was the charging. Its takes a long time to charge in my 2 port dock from amazon that the factory controller. And the battery empties a lot faster. On the power a charger, the single one with the required dongle, the dongle wont attach to this handle. The gap between the charging port and the shell is a few millimeters larger. Just enough to notice the difference. If I didn't buy this charger I wouldn't have caught that difference. I shouldve just bought the shell. The packaging is the same as the one displayed too. If you see that packaging, return it, you bought a clone. The precision is off on it and it tracks in jumps, not smooth movement. The packaging is longer and blue with wave patterns on it, the same as the screen saver on the PS4. On games the require precision, like shooters, it completely fails. On games that don't like classic arcades, or 2d scrolling games, it works ok. Buy the original, don't fall for the cheaper price.
So if I have a fairly used DS4 that doesn't have warranty, then a bootleg would be a better cheaper replacement option....... And u can get a better battery life in half the price of the original DS4.......!!!! U can even get 2 bootleg DS4's for the original price of one original DS4...... Noice......!!!!
That is assuming the 2000mAh is accurate. I bought a 2000mAh 3DS battery because mine started to bulge. Well it's a complete piece of shit, it charges up quickly and depletes quickly, I followed the calibration instructions and the seller told me to try it a few more times, it's still garbage, got my money back, not getting my time back though. You can get one of these bootlegs and it'll say 2000mAh but it's not going to last that long and it will probably only be good for a few charge cycles, it'll just be a waste of time.
How’s the right joystick on first person shooters? ‘cause mine sucks. No matter how hard/slightly you push it, it makes no difference in sensitivity; therefore not good for aiming accurately. Why does nobody address this?
The acceleration is a little fast, in my opinion. Although as much as I'd like to whip it out and test it for you, it broke. It broke in under a year. I use it mainly for spare parts.
2:20 packaging isn't a good indicator for spotting counterfeit controllers. The US packaging isn't like either of those. If anything, it resembles the tall box
If you don't have a controller at home, are going to buy second hand online and only have a few pictures to go by and a lower-than-usual price anyway, then it's not easy.
Hello, just asking if this bootleg dualshock is the same as an OEM switch controller from shopee? I was gonna buy the redragon but you said an oem switch is a better buy, but I don't know if it's fake or not.
By definition, as soon as a seller calls their product "OEM," it's usually fake. OEM means original equipment manufacturer, which sellers of fake goods usually use to imply that their fake goods were manufactured by the same factories that make the original ones.
The so called bootleg mite be the same control as the so called original ONLY diference mite be that they want to look out for the people and sell it to us at a normal affordable price and not try to get rich of kids and adults by selling everything so expensive ,as long as it works that’s all it should matter ,the original controls mess up a lot and it’s even worse cause you pay more money for something that still ends up not working ,like one of my controllers won’t stop vibrating at all,and it’s not bootleg so I ended up spending more money for something that dint last too long .
The bootlegs are third party bootlegs, as in they're not licensed and they were manufactured by people who aren't affiliated with Sony. But yes, they'll do in a pinch.
I'd like to add i think a little information based on my experience, I'm not sure if a lot of people knew this or even noticed it but you can actually use the dualshock 4 to play on your smartphone and even through pc/laptop via bluetooth pairing which i constantly do most of the time since i'm too busy working and rarely get a chance to play video games at home so instead i play on my smartphone during my spare time, but when my nephew a bought dualshock 4 online one day he immediately gave it to me check if how it is, and i said "well it seems fine if you ask me" and after that he then used it and it doesn't seem to have any issues, but when i tried using it, i noticed immediately the analog stick being less comfortable compared to my other bluetooth controllers but when i tried pairing it to my smartphone, it registered "wireless controller" instead of "dualshock 4" and it got me puzzled because the legit dualshock controllers always registers "dualshock (then the number)" and not in any other name because of the built in software inside the controllers since i've already done this multiple times on different smartphones, But like i said it's just based on my experience and I'm not sure if it's a legitimate distinguishing factor to consider
I could tell at 00:10 during the title screen because of the way the light hits the controller. I am a hardcore gamer and I just know what a Dualshock 4 controller's texture is.
I have two of them I regret it 100% when I play 2k I would stop running and shooting horrible when I play call of duty I stop running also don’t but people I ordered from game stop
No I got an Official PS4 DualShock 4 from GameStop the Two generic controllers online I’m here to tell America 🇺🇸 lol don’t waste time with the generic ones
$17 is pretty competetive price for a bootleg. The one I got, lasted 3 hours from 70% charge playing Dark Souls 3. The one noticable thing for me is the vibration. It's very weak even when set at 100%.
Well... As a person who literally JUST received a bootleg controller in the mail from Amazon, like TODAY, id like to also point out the possible performance issues in the analog sticks (especially in first person games). They dont seem to register untill the analog is tilted a little more than halfway to its full extent. This makes ADS a nightmare, and it doesnt help hip firing very much either. My accuracy has been cut down by about 65% in every FPS game i have. So if youve got a controller fresh out the box and your having issues with the analog sticks, chances are its a bootleg 😠
I bought a Fake one unfortunately... But here is my Analysis on my Ps4 controllers Black one is Original and came with my Ps4 and my new one is Green camo... Screws are the same Weight is the same Battery is the same Clicking sounds is the same Buttons are exact same Build Quality is exceptional and probably one of the things that gave it away... Charging light is the same and fades in and out like the original one Logos are all present and exactly the same Feedback on analog sticks and Bumpers are more or less the same (Hard to compare as the original controller is 2 years old) all in all very good quality Buttttttt serial number is 16 digits *sobs* and is prolly fake I paid $40 for it Mofos got me good...
