For those who aren't aware: You can adjust the Canon T7 shutter speed in video. The exposure time and shutter speed are the same thing. However, if you were talking about the 23.9 FPS NTSC video standard, then the frame rate is set by NTSC or PAL region, which is limited on Rebel bodies but shouldn't get in the way of your video. If you can I recommend 60 or 120 fps NTSC with a fast shutter speed to get sharper images.

Any tips for shutter speed with the 20 stop ND filter? Most charts dont goto ND6, i guess trial and error? My case canon 6D + f8.3 at 600mm and maybe 400 iso, guessing start of the event around 1/800?

You need minimum 16 stops for solar and the eclipse

Hi Scott, Thanks for the video, I have a question though, this is regarding the ND filters, I have watched other videos where they recommend not to focus on the sun with ND filters on for more than 5 min , if at all we wanted to have the sun in focus all the time, it is preferred to have solar filter instead of an ND filter (both 100000 and 1000000) - What are your thoughts on this. Have you experienced any damage to the sensor/lens if you used just an ND filter in the past. 2. Since, this is my first time shooting a total eclipse , I want to animate the from the point where moon is almost on the verge on completely blocking the sun (Diamond ring) and moving away point C3 . Do you recommend shooting as video during the process or take continuous photos . thanks in advance

Your ND filter is safe, just as long as it has enough stops, the 1000000 filter has 20 stops, which is almost too dark, and the 100000 has 16 stops, just right! And i would recommend shooting numerous photos instead of video, the eclipse is going to require numerous different exposure times to bring out the right amount of detail, especially around totality
