I did your experiment 6 months ago. And inoculated activated biochar. My first flushes of mushrooms are coming up. Used sawdust and dried seaweed to make the charcoal. Its absolutely fascinating. Thank you for the opportunity to learn. 🇿🇦👩🏽‍🌾🌍🍄

I wish you would contact the Sri Lankan government to teach their farmers this. The government banned all non organic fertilizers in one fell swoop and that has wreaked havoc on their whole system since they used majority of commercial fertilizers without offering help and education on how to heal the soil. It is dire.

Going to trying KNF techniques in eastern Spain (Mediterranean climate) we’ve lost a lot of diversity because of blanket pine plantings so gathering from wilder pockets. I’m very small scale, but I love spreading this info, we are your and Master Cho’s hyphae, going out there, spreading the word. It’s all connected, thank you for what you do 🙏

Quick question for you. If I try using Kefir instead of Milk when making LABS is it still LABS? I used kefir and rice wash water. Followed your exact methods from your older video about LABS. The only difference is the substitution of kefir instead of milk. Question is can it be used in the same way as LABS?? Glad you are back on RU-vid. Thanks for all the amazing information

Where in Co I lived there for 5 years in co springs monument & Palmer lake. You need to go the Forrest somewhere off of a hiking trail look for lots of leaves undisturbed. Disturb them lol move the leaves and underneath should be leaf mold and soil from broken down leaves. Place your imo box there and you’ll get a great collection of microorganisms
@CJFarm
@CJFarm Год назад
@@GTILOUD Hi Drago... thanx for replying to my post. I'm about 45 min north of Boulder. But "the forest" is not the same ecology as here on our place. We are about a mile high and it is very dry. I'd think the organisms that thrive in "the forest" would die off on our place?!! However, going into winter means I'll have to wait until spring. Do you know anything about creating an environment where you make the soil/leaf mould to get a collection?

@@CJFarm try watering an area that might be good if it had more moisture, youll be amazed at how an area can change in just a few days with a bit of moisture. as an example, we have some wood chip filled playgrounds around us, after a good rain if you lift the top maybe inch there is mycelium everywhere, but if its dry you have to dig down probabaly about 8-12 inches to start to see the mycelium by eye. all it takes is a good rain and the next day its completely different. My climate is not the same as yours so its just an idea, not saying it would work 100%.

I live in Longmont and have been "practicing" collecting here before ever hearing about Chris and his amazing successes and opportunities to study under the NF master himself. Yeah moisture...have been known to find a couple prime sites, create an artificial rain event (2 gal spring water, cover with local duff) and come back with my boxes for collection. Poke around dark and dank mixed forestation, you'll find the mycos. Johnny/Allenspark, Big Thompson, etc. Ponderosa I find just too damn dry, maybe stick to lower aspen/spruce zones. Happy to help siting come May/June.

just a thought, since you want mycelium, and in mushroom growing all sorts of different grains are used, maybe a different grain would fit this purpose better. Rice is prone to getting sticky (since you cook the rice to not stick this would make it a lot easier), lots of other grains such as oats, rye, hard wheats can be cooked and still not get sticky nearly as easily, would they work better for this purpose?

I am a carpenter and have access to tons of clean wood chips, shavings and dust. I wonder if an IMO collection is possible using the sawdust instead of rice? It is something I will try, cause if it works it's one more use for the waste from work.
@davidka8345
@davidka8345 Год назад
The rice is your food source for the microorganisms. It's mainly carbohydrates. Sawdust is hardly digestible and thus not preferable.

@bullishtingles1384
@bullishtingles1384 Год назад
So why do you prefer to do this rather than the Jadam method of just collecting the leaf mold itself and bringing it back to inoculate JFL. Also why not just bring the leaf mold and use it to inoculate an IMO 3 pile and skip the first 2 steps?
@biomei.solutions

The fungi is not furthered by JMS, and the leaf mold collection is less sustainable (destructive) and less affective for growing them out.
