I'm following the video but when I import my file, I'm only seeing the skeleton and nothing else

hey thanks for the tutorial! I think there's a mistake on the shading part for the normal and ORM maps, the texture input node colorspace is set to srgb but they should be set to linear. srgb is only used for color textures because we often create them with the display gamma applied (which is srgb) but ORM and normal maps are raw data made to be used by the shader and shouldn't have any display transform on them if that makes any sense.

Yep that's definitely wrong this is one of my older tutorials when I didn't realise that was the case. What they should be set to is non-color is what I've found works best and you're right they're raw data not sRGB values especially the normal map which is just an x, y, z vector. Apologies as I know you've probably finished watching this but this new tutorial here is much faster and has much better materials here and I corrected those mistakes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8bptSUSiyB8.html and it's only 10 minutes for the short tutorial + it has a longer tutorial if you need extra guidance.

at 12:10 when I click open folder content it says "fatal error" and ive tried switching unreal engine 4.27 -4.19 but nothing changed, anyway to fix this?

Its a good tutorial but it misses a lot of information for other models/killers. For example the extra parts on the spirits hair i some of the skins have parts fused into other parts and you arent able to put any texture or colour on them so they just stay gray.

This is one of the oldest tutorials I've made on dbd. An updated video would be awesome! I have models imported using unreal/ gltf 2.0 but the skeleton doesn't match the model nor does the model have any textures. Im getting close and ill have to keep working at it.

Thanks for this, really useful and thorough. I've just tried using the UE Viewer, but it's throwing up an error when trying to view the models, so I can't actually do anything with them. It asks what Unreal engine, and no matter which I click, throws up a bad memory allocation error then force closes. Any idea?

You need to use Unreal version 4.27 now. Make sure to tick "Override game detection".

even though i export on png, i dont get the transparency :C there's a grey background. can i do something to fix that?

So can you have a look at this one here: blender.stackexchange.com/questions/1303/can-blender-render-pngs-with-the-background-transparent It's under the Render Settings tab > Film settings there should be an option for transparency which you can check.

check the timestamps in the description I have timestamps but since I have a warning on my channel it removes all timestamps. Hey, do you know where I can find the prestige models? I'm trying to find Leatherface's bloody body model and it doesn't appear to be on de models folder together with his other stuff.

First thing, join this discord here: discord.gg/rkkWSH2EMz I can give you more information there. It's because he doesn't have a bloodied body model. It uses the same body mesh as the default body model but they just switch out the materials (remember one material is made out of 1+ textures) and textures. So the material would be Game/Characters/Slashers/Cannibal/Materials/MI_CATorso01_P01. So export the material, when you export a material you will export the textures along with it. Read the props.txt file called MI_CATorso01_P01.props.txt and look at the referenced textures use them on the body mesh material called MI_CATorso01. Again join the discord for more information because it's kind of hard for me to provide detailed instructions without screenshots and in a single comment.

I like to use the baked ambient occlusion channel from the ORM files, to get the same look as in game. I just multiply the red channel of the ORM texture with the BC texture.

Apologies that you've experienced so much trouble and watched my tutorial so many times. Can you join my discord server here: discord.gg/rkkWSH2EMz and ask there with screenshots of what your model is like. Also if you're comfortable with sharing your screen through voice chat just let me or others know whenever you're free and we'd be happy to help you debug your problem live. I think it's probably just a really small issue that's the problem. However, without knowing the details of what your problem looks like I'm not sure how to fix it. So my best suggestion is join the discord, send some screenshots of your errors and join voice chat and I or others will be happy to help you out!

So you need to use unreal engine 4.27 for umodel now which is probably the cause of your issue

I tried doing this on Nemesis, and it worked perfectly, but the model K24_Heart_ACC01_REF did not track with the rest of the torso.

Yes that's because, I didn't know how to do this properly back then and this guide is a little bit old though still relevant. So for accessories or hair you need to do it in either of two methods. I really suggest you join the Dead By Daylight Rendering Discord so I can help you with more detailed instructions here: discord.gg/rkkWSH2EMz However a summary of the two methods. I suggest using the first method, because it is faster and cleaner. 1. Downloading and Installing my Fuse Skeletons add on here: github.com/AnimNyan/Fuse-Skeletons/releases , importing the accessory and hair skeletons on the setting of All, then in the Fuse Skel tab select the base skeleton to fuse to. Press Fuse Skeletons to join the skeletons together and delete the duplicate bones that are named the same and reparent the child bones of deleted bones to the bones form the base skeleton with the same name. 2. Import the hair or accessory with befzz's psk/psa importer select the accessory skeleton add a child of constraint and attach it to a bone on the base skeleton that is close by to the accessory such as either joint_head01 or joint_torsoC_01 then press set inverse.

I would really love to, however, I haven't really used SF2M whatsoever so I don't think I could help you. However, KrugoZOR and CozyChicken are experts on SF2M for Dead By Daylight content so I would suggest you could join their discord here: discord.com/invite/zpRRrfx and ask them if you would like any help. Apologies for the inconvenience, it's just I don't really know how to use source filmmaker because I haven't ever used it.

So you can just export the character then, but the latest version of Dead By Daylight requires you replace some of the files for umodel which are in the discord in the video description in the announcements channels and then use unreal engine override 4.27.

This video is exactly what I was looking for, thank you. I'm trying to get Blight to work in this way but I can't seem to get his mouth to work properly. The mesh for his jaw seems to stay in a static position and warps to the center while the rest of the body is doing the correct animation. Is there some sort of physics that needs to be applied to the jaw? I found there was a jaw bone setup but it appears to not be effected by the animations. Thanks

I would suggest joining the discord in the video description here: discord.gg/rkkWSH2EMz if you can because I think Pumpkin also ran into this problem and eventually solved it. What he said was: When I import the jaw with 'all' toggled in the psk importer, bones show up for the jaw, but some for the eyes and head and stuff as well.. And then as a solution he said: by finding the parents of the new bones, i remove all the other bones and then join the skeletons, reassign the parents and then rename the weights on the extra accessories if they have the same name as another and it works I'm not 100% sure on the details but to join skeletons together you select both of them with shift + LMB and press ctrl + j and then I think he deleted duplicate bones of anything except the jaw bones and then he parented those jaw bones back to the root bone in the head or something I believe.

Should we skip the BDE nodes if the file doesn't have BDE?

Yep you should skip any type of node if the file does not have that type of node including BDE. However, a file will usually have ORM, BC and N nodes. The ones which are not always there include M and BDE nodes, but other nodes such as N nodes can also be optional as well. If they are not there just don't include the image texture and other related nodes.

@@axe6268 all good erm do you want to send a message in the discord either just the general channel for help or just send me or any of the others a DM to see what you're talking about. Small squares from what you're saying sound like you haven't shaded smooth, but it could be something else you're referring to. Basically if you want to shade smooth go to object mode in blender, select all the different meshes by left clicking on them (not the skeletons/armatures, the meshes themselves) and the right click > shade smooth and you should be fine from there. Let me know in the discord though if you need any more help or more information on this.

No worries whatsoever, glad to help out and yep the method would be the same for structures, however I do suggest you don't try structures for the most part, the reason why is because structures are made of a lot of other structures. Like small wooden planks or other details you wouldn't think of. So mostly I would say stick to characters and maybe basic props like generators, hooks and stuff.

@@AnimeNyan thanks for that insight! I mostly wanted framework for things like Yakaoka like the family home or temple, and jungle gym walls and the like. If it's too terrible hard I could always attempt to models those myself but I was hoping there was a much quicker way. I'll stick to character models then!

@@bunbunHD Well it's still definitely easier than modelling everything yourself. But the thing is you might need to be ready to individually place pieces of cloth, shrubbery, trees, walls and columns from memory to get the map exactly right. Some of the main structures are one piece but even then it's missing a lot of various things like cushions, photos, interior decoration so I really wouldn't recommend doing structures with this method. If you look at here: open3dlab.com/?search_text=dead+by+daylight&license=&order_by= Frutto has exported all the 3d models for hooks, gens and survivor items, so you should be able to use those if you wish. Another thing if you're looking for the full map kind of thing for the least work, I suggest using the dev build which I made another video tutorial on. From there you can use the debug camera to get photos and such, but it is more difficult for custom animations and such.
