All my boyfriends have been so scared to meet my Japanese dad lol A big way to impress Asian dads is towards the end of the meal at a restaurant pretend you have to use the bathroom and pay the bill.

This is also super helpful as a white person dating an Asian person 😂

In the Philippines even though we're also Asian, it doesn't matter what you do when it comes to some Chinese families. Even if you speak the language, are well educated, etc, for some Chinese families it's still a no as long as you're not Chinese 💀

my boyfriend is a shy type infront of my parents. When hr met my korean dad, he was so nervous but as he was also korean, he could speak to my dad openly. I was sitting there dumbfounded as I couldn't understand a word they said! I was looking forward to speak to my mom as I knew a little bit of hindi, I wanted to talk to her but I was shocked when She started speaking in korean with the both of thrm! bruh, I was soo jealous!

So blessed to be raised by Asian parents who believe in being yourself and welcoming all people into their home ❤🥢

Me and my boyfriend are both Korean but our parents are totally different his parents are really chill while my parents are very strict and formal people I had to warn him about them😭 at least they accepted us. But my parent thought that my boyfriend was disrespectful at first because he give off a cold look all the time but he's actually really sweet. One of the reason I'm sure they accepted us because he came over with 600 dollars worth of gifts and the also found out that he can cook and clean and that hes going to college for a law degree.😭

My daughter is a white girl and in middle school, for some reason all the Asian boys at school are crazy for her, they all ask her to sit with them for lunch, they bring her snacks like oranges, apples and other healthy things. So this is a good video because she will probably end up dating one of them. They are so sweet to her, AND me, whenever they see me they say hello and once at a birthday party one of them even went and got me food and the other one got me water. LOL! It was so respectful.

Nice tips. If I may add, the core value is to be respectful to the elders, honour their culture, be kind, be polite, throw away that "freedom" and "putting myself first" for a while. Asians appreciate community value more than individual. So, if you can't help yourself from being self-centered in front of the parents and bad at conflicts resolution, you're gonna have problems to receive their validation.

Rule #1: be asian or white or don't bother

if y'all are dating a filipino, make sure you know how to "mano po" when greeting the parents and when leaving the house, to say po at the end of every sentence (even if they are speaking in english!), and "opo" and "no po" for yes and no. obviously not a hard requirement (esp that last one) but it's more likely to endear you to filipino parents ESPECIALLY if they're from the mainland omg

I met my wife and got married in 8 days. A month later we decided to go to Taiwan to met her parents. They spoke no English and I spoke no Mandarin. I just smile and did what my wile told me do do. Her parents love me. My Korean mom told my wife to make a baby and my mom would take care of the baby.

I really hope this next generation of people who are Asian, doesn't commit the same generational trauma that their parents are doing.... Your parents should be able to respect that you're adult. They should be able to understand if you go on a trip with your significant other, especially if you're going to a serious relationship. They also should respect your wishes about your career. It's got to be traumatic to go through that level of stress.

I say be yourself. If you aren’t authentic then they’re loving something that’s not you and when you become yourself they’re gonna think you changed and still hate you. Besides being someone else is terrible job. Always be yourself.

Relatable, but don’t have Asian parents. Fruit is ok, in Europe it’s coffee, in some situations tea, chocolate or flowers are the best.

Not always the case to bring something, it really depends on the family. My boyfriend’s family is Chinese and his mom scolded me for getting her expensive chocolates for Mother’s Day.

Eating everything they give you is very important. Asian parents don’t like picky eaters and if you don’t eat or try what they give you, they will think you are rude and don’t have manners
