What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

I had some Chinese friends when I was younger, they would invite me over to their house and their mom would make us traditional Chinese dishes. I was too young to realize their kindness. Ever since then, especially after coronavirus, I definitely will defend you. Agreed. 6:11 I'm not putting down other responses or questioning the sincerity of other defenders of anti-discrimination in these WWYD segments, but that gentleman's "so?" was one of genuine befuddlement. You cannot believe how racist some people can be. I used to like only white guys when I was growing up but some were racist against me because I am Asian. I guess I can consider myself attractive but it was my race/ethnicity that they did not like. But that was when I was a very young teenager. Now, white guys approach me all the time but I tend to like Asian guys more now. However, I am open and believe that you love who you love and the race/ethnicity should not matter at all.

My husband is Singaporean Chinese and we've been married for almost 7 years, together for almost a decade (I was 19 when we meant he was 25). He takes the best care of me and I love him so much. In Ellensburg, Washington, my husband said people were staring at us. In small towns like that they are more curious. They don't say anything but it's awkward. However, in major cities no one looks at us because interracial couples are very common. Glad they are defending the fiancee

@@irishock I didn't go for a chinese man we just matched on eharmony and he is so sweet and I fell in love with him. I don't have a type particularly it just worked. If I had met a man of another race like him who I was attracted to then yeah I would be interested as well. No other guy I had met did the conversation flow as well as ours and that's when I think we both knew it was a good fit. There are cultural differences that do effect us at times but we understand each other at this point. I will say though just my whole life I've gotten along better with Asians than my own race I don't really know why.

Marriage is never about races, but the two falling in love at the moment treating each other with respect and love later. Asian kids were raised in the way to work harder, get better, care family especially their kids. It's the most important part of being a family. Racism isn't logical, it's an irrational impulse based on fear, hatred and ignorance. This extends to religious as well as social discrimination. Tons of rich, afluent parents would instantly object to their child marrying someone of a lesser social standing, even if they they were attractive, educated and genuinely in love.

I am half Filipino and the other half Caucasian. I was born in Maryland and was twenty years old in 1980 and experienced the exact same thing. She was nineteen, Caucasian and middle-class. When it was time to meet her grandparents it was obvious that they didn't approve of me, they didn't even want to shake my hand upon introduction. They made it very clear to her mother (their daughter) that our relationship was to cease immediately before it gotten any more serious. Unfortunately the pressure was too much for her and she began to see other guys. I was devastated but immersed myself in my work and the gym. After she realized that other guys weren't serious and just wanted to get laid, she came back wanting to be with me. She said she would never let anyone ever tell her again how to feel about someone. I would have given her everything in my power because I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, but, that trust was broken.

I'm married to a Mexican American and my parents absolutely loved my husband. As long as I was happy and loved that's all they cared about. My hubby and my dad were best of friends and he had a phenomenal relationship with my mama. He was just as devastated as myself when they passed. And his family accepted me with open arms. I remember when I called his dad by his name and he stopped me and said call me dad and my mother in law shared all the secret recipes with me, she said she wanted to pass them on to her daughter and told me I still had a mom and dad. So if i saw this type of thing there's no way I could've or would've kept my mouth shut. If their child is in love, happy and treated right that's all that matters. Love doesn't see color or race.

Kinda reminds me of my mum, she’s old fashioned racist and would tell us as children all sorts of nonsense about different races. Then I met my husband, introduced him to her in a firm way like “ this is my bf and I love him” but to my surprise, she also loved him immediately. She made some insensitive remarks every now and again but she’s said on several occasions he’s her favorite son in law, and surprisingly during Covid when I would’ve been expecting her to say crap like “kung flu” and spouting anti Asian nonsense like her friends were, she said she was worried about my husband and his family getting attacked and that her friends are being very stupid, that made me so happy tbh! I have to admit though, she probably would not have been accepting had he been black or middle eastern, I think in her mind only Asian or half white is okay (including both west and east Asia) and that still pisses me off tbh!
