In this episode I discuss the unmet need of increasing awareness of pulmonary fibrosis among the general public, but also among health professionals. Many patients who have pulmonary fibrosis or other forms of interstitial lung diseases (ILD) struggle to find the right specialists or to get referred early enough for treatment.
There is also a great need for supportive care, in addition to medication. We need access to pulmonary rehabilitation, oxygen therapy, appropriate treatment of other associated health conditions, symptom management, palliative care services, research etc.
All these services require more awareness of the needs of patients with pulmonary fibrosis.

Thank you. You are sure right , I have ILD caused by RA attacking my lungs.l’m getting wonderful care at National Jewish hospital in Denver. Thank God. Please keep educating the medical professionals about ILD. You give us hope.

I have upper lobe fibrosis. I'm on Ofev 150 mg. Twice a day. So far I'm stable. Haven't had a biopsy; but cat scan reveals sarcoidosis. No one in the ER seems to know about it unless you explain that you have scarring on your lungs. They are more aware of copd & asthma....smh. Thank you for all you do!❤❤❤

Thank you for the video. I agree with you that doctors have limited knowledge of Pulmonary fibrosis. My GP had no idea what I was going through, and because of a lack of knowledge, he was not able to diagnose or send me to a specialist to determine what was wrong with me. On my persistent request, it took him 8 months to send me for an x-ray imaging to find out why I was coughing badly. Only then I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.

Same here. Took my doctor 2 years. She kept prescribing cough and allergy medicines to me.

My friend says she had an xray result : fibrosis on her upper lobe. She consulted a cardiologist but told her that's only lung scarring and did not give her medicines. Sometimes she feels very tired but didnt do anything. Asking if this is one of the symptoms. What medicines should she take. Thanks.
