gonna be honest. have been playing mlb for years and never been that good, i used ur techniques at looking at the pitcher, his release and the ball and i hit 6 home runs in one game! thank you!!
One of the best videos I have found about hitting. Outstanding job on breaking everything down. So much helpful information and making things make sense
More people need to be talking about these types of tips, to players who are new to the game, instead of just “I use this pci and I see ball and hit ball”. Great video 👍
@@Mistergraavy im new ad mlb 23 and its hard for me to batt. Any tips you can, give me i actuely have it on legend. I think it's not good idea for a rookie right?
Wow, have always used strike zone 1 or 2. Gave this a run in conquest on vet and allstar. The different perspective is nice. Putting the ball in play almost every at bat with mostly good contact. Had a run of 3 perfect perfect in areas I usually wouldn't swing at. Thank you.
Started using the batter's stride to time pitches and I'm driving the ball much more consistently. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge
I've always created a pitcher cause I can never get hitting down. This def makes me want to give hitting another shot here! I always used strike zone and hated it, but knew that was what the pros did. Zoom def looks better to me, so with these tips I will give it another go! Thanks for the upload!
I subbed for 2 reasons. The tips were super solid, but the bit at the end about those who subscribe was hilarious. Thanks for the vid. I desperately need help with my timing it's very frustrating
Awesome advice man!! Tried it and from the word go I hit 3 dead left center seeds and then back to back jacks. 5 straight hits 3 singles and 2 HR’s for 5 runs and 0 outs! I Best advice I have seen bar none and been playing MLB TheShow for… well let’s just say a long time! Thanks you! Got yourself a new subscriber as well.
honestly was having a lot of trouble with getting the timing right, then when you said that the batter will always line up their stride for perfect timing my hitting IMMEDIATELY got much better, this was exactly what I needed to find out, thank you!
This video was AMAZING. You’re a great teacher. Was a fun watch as well as educational. I been terrible with my timing but im excited to try these new techniques!!
I came across this the other day, I've been practicing it a bit with exhibition games, and I just went 5/5 with 3 RBIs in road to the show! This tip helped my game out big time 🎉.
Honestly these are probably the best tips I’ve ever gotten. I also watched your pci placement video and the breakdown is awesome and in depth. The camera I use is strikezone high I feel like it’s a good mix of zoom and strike zone
I've been playing MLB The Show since 2006. I never once focused on leg kicks to time swings. I always looked at the release from the pitcher, then begin my swing once the ball reached the end of the grass to the beginning of the dirt from the batters box. It may not be the most perfect strategy to focus on due to also trying to recognize pitch type, but I've done pretty good overall. I'll give your leg kick strategy a go. Btw, I love Zoom for players 6 foot 4 and over for less pci to cover, but I usually go to strike zone 2 with shorter players.
man, I gotta thank you so much, been struggling with my hitting for a long while, even as Miguel Cabrera I thought I was walking down my retirement, but you saved my career hahaha, thanks for your tips you really helped me a lot, keep up the good work.. thanks again.
Grinding the WBC program and couldn't for the life of me hit a homer with Schwarber. I was paying way too much attention to the zone. I tried your bill of the hat tip and it took me 5 tries. Thank you so so so much!
I switched my view to see the batter's full body and hopped in training. Just watched the legs, didn't aim. Started making contact immediately. Thank you so much!
3:20 that one thing helped so much, I was hitting literally nothing in practice and once I heard you say that I tried it and haven’t missed a pitch yet
This video was super helpful. I have noticed that there are a few players that finish their stride way early and there must be something else to look for in those case, I’m not sure. Overall, my hitting has improved drastically. I used to use zone and even though I could see the ball really well, timing was still an issue in some case.
Bro, I’ve watched so many tutorials and yours is the only one that actually helped!! I never even knew about using the stride to time it, and zoom camera is way nicer too
02:37 THANK YOU for this tip. I always thought the Hitters animation was cosmetic, but, I switched it up and learned to improve my timing over a couple games...BOOM, I was hitting homeruns WAY MORE often. I barely hit homers and don't get a lot of good contact because my timing is so poor. THANK YOU. Gave me a couple new favorite batters because of how well I time with them.
Actually when i pitch a ball in real life, i throw side arm but arm still bends like Shohei Ohtani’s but it bends down more, then it will like twist around and then i just release. I started throwing sidearm when i was younger and my arm started doing this. I was on a baseball team back then and my teammates said “Your arm is gruesome” and they had to look away 🤣😆
Watching the ball release from the pitchers hand has helped me quite a bit. Also using zone hitting with the bat I'm getting better at. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you that was helpful, im new to baseball, i wondered if you knew how to play with Ohtani in Franchise, is i chose the team he is on, is he then going to change since hes free agent, so is there another team he moves to like the Dodgers where he is now? Im playing MLB The Show 23. Thanks in advance
really helpful,i just start to play the show series and always swing casully, the recent extreme program really gave me a lesson, almost made me give up this game
Thanks for the tips I think I used to do this back in the Colby Rasmus days when he was with the jays. Should help. Also the release point hopefully helps I have decent recognition but I have to stay back which obviously online I see a lot of high and tight fastballs so I’ll try that out thanks.
Bro this changed everything for me high key, changed the camera and all. Still adjusting to reading the pitches on the camera but my timing is hell of a lot better.
Been using Catcher camera which is fairly similar to zoom ever since I started playing the show and never had a problem with it, I’ve been a consistent hitter good against all kind of opponents, seeing the leg strides/set of the batter before the pitch it’s definetly important and I cannot ignore that the presentation looks so much better. It’s nice to see competitive players out there like you that Can work it out while seeing the batter stance!
Posting almost verbatim what someone else said: I've been playing almost daily for the past 4 years and am just "not good." My comfort zone is only Veteran level - yes, even after 4 years. I've watched all the videos, I've seen all the tips, hitting interface, the release point, the leg-placement, etc. So much so that when you said, "the most important thing is ..." (me: 'Pitch Recognition /sigh. The thing I SUCK most at.') But I've never seen anyone actually BREAK DOWN what they were talking about! Now I see what they've been referring to and *what* it actually means! I'll definitely be switching up a couple things this afternoon when I get off work (/cough) and see if I can put some of this to good use. Thank you!
@@Mistergraavy Update / Progress Report per lunch-break test. (I work from home hehe). Changed from Zone to Zoom, so now the pitcher is SO FAR away lol. "OK, let's give this a whirl!" /first pitch = Home Run 😲 OK, that was probably luck hehe. But even though I was trying to learn a new view and juggle trying to see the pitch alongside watching the batter, over 3 Mini-Season games I still won, plus I made some good hits, doubles, and HRs and have concrete things to actually work on instead of me just "seeing what happens." Not going to keep replying with updates or anything, but just wanted to say that now I feel I have places to improve instead of "just play more and somehow you'll get better" (when the last say, 3.5 years seem to show otherwise hehe). Thanks again!
Great video man. My hitting has been inconsistent for years. I kill the first half hour then cycle through all the hitting views as my hitting gets worse. Now I have a plan when I'm at the plate.
Dude why has nobody ever said anything about the stride before in these kind of hitting videos I’m gunna have to give this a try huge thank you in advance cuz this makes so much sense
I came back to this video to tell you how much your advice has helped me improve in hitting. One question, I've noticed some batters have weird kick to swing timing. Specifically Luis Urias from the WBC cards. His kick to swing is so weird
@@harlemstyles17 If I’m thinking of the same thing with Urius’ stance, it’s kind of how Kyle Schwarber’s used to be.. (his just isn’t AS dramatic as he used to be w/ the Cubs) but with those types of guy’s, they have the kind of leg kick/upper body movement where it’s all one motion and basically as soon as their front foot lands on the ground, that’s when you want to swing.. I did the same thing with looking at the pitcher’s cap in baseball when I played IRL since it was a good way for pitch recognition, but also I looked at how they would hold their shoulders. (Different shoulder positions/slots= different pitch being thrown other than fastball) Unfortunately, the pitcher’s shoulder’s are (for the most part) the same for every pitch, arm slot just changes.. BUT, 1 other thing that would help me out whenever I fell into a slump. This is what I would do IRL and it even works in-game as well. Ok, so as the pitcher starts his windup, or even if he’s pitching out of the stretch, as soon as he lifts his leg up, count to yourself “one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two, one-thousand-three”… the time stops as soon as the pitcher releases the ball. 9 out of 10 pitcher’s are right in-between “one-thousand-two & one-thousand-three”. And when you see that ball, with the delay between your brain and your thumb, that’s why you want to start yourself as soon as he releases the ball. (It’ll take a little time getting used to it.) but I’m telling you, with this amazing video, and my method I use, you’ll not only be hitting ball’s better, but you’ll start to be able to know exactly how long each pitcher’s windup is and how to time up their offspeed as well. (I actually keep counting in my head sometimes after the pitch even goes over the plate, especially on balls so I can REALLY get the timing down.. hope this helps man!
I started playing this game recently by playing HR derbies and have gotten good enough to compete online and have won quite a few derbies. I got the hitting down but suck at everything else 😂
Started the usual NMS grinding WCS first. A few days in I'm already about to start my alt account for ironman 😂😂😂 BR, events, ranked to build the squad. I'm looking forward to seeing your ironman challenge this year lesssssssssgo
Ty for the video. Been playing MLB longer than The Internet's been around does anybody guess pitch online like every batter or is that just the waist cuz it's starting to be a waste against the computer and taking your tips I have a feeling they'll be much more fun and better competition and hopefully won't start like the Orioles did back in that year 0 and 23 I believe it was
Bro……. I just started playing the show for the first time a few months ago I’ve been batting strike zone the whole time cause everyone says it’s the best and I was having okay results. I watched this video changed by view to zoom and the first at bat of my next game I hit a perfect perfect home run.
I’m in a wild slump right now. Legend hit difficulty Contact 97, Power 87, Vision 94. Every swing with good timing is either a miss, foul ball or a out. I’ve hit countless perfect timing hits caught for outs. Idk what’s going on
Tell me how I been playing this game since mlb the show 16 and I’m just now learning that the hitters time it perfectly with their stride every time 💀 this actually improved my hitting ASTRONOMICALLY
Idk if this is coincidence but im trash as hell at this game and first pitch I see online after watching this vid I hit a perfect perfect tank so j gonna thank you😭😭😭
Awesome video, I can’t wait to try it out. Everyone keeps saying strike zone if you are serious about the game. But I can’t hit using it, is it common to make ws using zoom? I love the camera angle
I got a tip you can make a video about. So I figured out you get 2 innings out of a 2 way player before they are tired on conquest if you put them on your bench. My bench is Ohtani and two Negro league players. I started killing on conquest with your tip and using Ohtani in the bullpen.
I went into challenge of the week (Where I like to test settings like hitting view, PCI, etc. since they update immediately and live without needing to go out and back into menu) This week is Bellinger and the foot down thing is insane. I was able to hit 4 PP's out of the first 5 swings I took. The other one being early which is better than being late. The peripheral vision with zoom hitting really lets you see when the foot goes down. Then it's just all about pitch recognition and timing because fairly easy.
This was game changing. Using Zoom hitting cam has changed my game way more than SZ cams. Using that players stance and motion is a game changer. Don’t be a follower guys, use what camera works best for you!
