Your videos are always so informatives. I feel like you're concerned about these issues for the players and want to help. You even mention the slightest details that i wouldnt have thought about like checking the task manager (It seems so obvious that i would have forget it). Anyway keep up the good work man that's great !
A few things to add The game is so CPU heavy because all the characters, abilities and most of the things in the game all get through 1 core and CANNOT be shared although optimization might help a little. That means having a 32 core CPU will have the same or worse performance that a 4 core CPU. Keep in mind that ghz is not an indicator to performance because a 3ghz CPU can beat a 4gz one if the architecture is different. So this means having a new CPU with better ipc and higher frequency will indeed improve the performance. A CPU with many cores might not be able to reach as high frequency as a lower one due to thermals thus reducing your fps. Lastly having very few cores can have a negative impact on your game and it might feel choppy.
@@michaelsterrett374 yeah, it's an old engine. But we can force to 4 CPU... After it's important to disable hyperthreating for old game. Reduce lag and up FPS of 10-20% in most of games..
This is great. There’s a LOT of outdated or too specific changes to the user settings file floating around that either makes performance worse in the current patch or is only applicable to a certain hardware spec/older patches. That addon selector addon is great!
I set shadows in low because I can't stand how rooms look without them, it just simply kill the game for me. I tried it several times but always end setting them in low.
hard capping your frame rate to 60 fps really helps with performance and ping so in usersettings in your Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live folder set it to: SET MinFrameTime.2 "0.01666666" . and I was able to have everything on max except shadows to low with vsync and antia-aliasing to off. Hope this helps. Bare in mind that your cpu has to be decent, same with ram and number of cores dont matter too much for this game. I have DDR3 ram currently at 1600mhz but planning to upgrade that to 2133mhz which is the max for my motherboard. I also have 16gb of ram but i think you will be fine with 8gb of ram. Your graphics card has to be the recommended or higher. Mine is Evga 1080ti SSC.
@@YOUDODEADLIFT also this app which is free seems to help reduce ping and fps transition: Ryzen DRAM Calculator which has the FreezKiller app you run in the background that works with any processor.
A lot of great tips in here in general, such as changing Chrome's settings to not run in the background and reminding me to disable some startup programs. Thanks!
My computer told me my performance was excellent and I was struggling to look left and right it was so bad…the first thing about display mode fixed it entirely, thank you.
after doing my time on ps4 for a 3-4 years i don't know what i would do without my precious lazy crafting. Thanks for the info on the addons i was basiclly killing myself with them xD
You are such a life saver :) After adding some addons my game acted like a drunk sailor on a boat in storm. All caused by it getting changed to windowed fullscreen somehow ....so tysm
The reason it didn't do much is because the Engine as a whole is very very dated, and when they add to it without completely overhauling it, they have to add things not natively supported by the Engine in such a "hacky" way that around half of the benefit of said feature addition is lost due to having all that extra work for the system to do. I've said it a dozen times and I'll say it again.. I'd give up the next year of content patches/chapter for them to basically put all hands on deck for an Engine overhaul, or port to a new, more efficient Engine with DX11/12/Vulcan support. Then we could have true HD visuals and great performance to boot. Not to mention the tools necessary for it to still run on dated systems fairly well. One can wish.
@@Requimatic yeah idk why compagnies think with their feet and do whacky things than the rigth thing or the better things .. btw the time and investement they put for thoses half useful patches could have been put in a complety new engine directly ..
I've spent so much money and invested so much time on the XBOX version that even though I own the game on PS4 and PC I just can't bring myself to start over, even though the game has got to a point where it will not let me sign in. "Connection to server timed out. Please try again later" or some such, I'm not the only one and even though me and a few others on the forums have tried everything ZOS refuses to look into it, the game is essentially broken for us. It can take from a few tries to up too hours just to get to the character selection. I love this game so much, that's why I still pay a subscription and have pre ordered Elswyr.
If you turn off the shadows completely in games (that uses realistic graphics especially) they will look terrible and you missing like half of the graphics experience
You may have 2 or more presets saved and so if you are going on harder content turn-off everything and in overland and normal group content run another preset with shadows etc.. I have 2 completely different games with that. One (trial/PVP) looks worse then TES3 morrowind and another one looks like modded Skyrim.
for those who have good FPS anyway the game will lock it to 100fps. If you want 120 or 144fps Navigate to Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/ Open the UserSettings.txt file. for 120FPS, it's SET MinFrameTime.2 "0.00833333" and for 144FPS it's SET MinFrameTime.2 "0.00694444"
Thanks man! I have a 2080ti and ryzen 3600 I was pretty pissed in populated areas I was getting drops to 55 FPS from 100 witch is my cap never messed w the cap, murkmire would bring me down to 40s sometime! I just tweaked my particle settings and view distances from max to yours and it doesn’t budge from 100 thanks man those drops were getting on my nerves
Ye having such a g powerful setup and seeing the game drop below 60fps hurts. View distance is definitely the biggest one here, glad I could help cheers!

Well this is a very simple and basic video and honestly this worked a bit for me. Increased my fps by 5-6. I was playing around 10-15 fps with medium textures and high subsampling and now it runs from 15-22. However it goes to 26-36 fps if I am using medium subsampling. It bothers me though cause any subsampling apart from high makes the game look pixelated yet the subsampling is the main reason for my low fps. Don't know why but it annoys me. Then again I run the game on a laptop which isn't really made for gaming.
When I do this, my client's image freezes at character select, although I can still select a character and hear them moving in game (while the screen is still stuck at character select). Any advice?
This is Nice. Just wish Console had more access to setting changes, especially button mapping! That L3 sprint is death to my hands. The advised settings you are demonstrsting in this video will help scalebreaker update seem better than it actually is. I'm Still bummed about all the healing nerfs. I did like the orbs change though.
Very helpful video! I've used some of these tips and my overall fps is pretty good. My ping hovers around 90-120 which is totally playable and for ESO I consider anything 100 and below pretty good. Sometime however when cyrodil is close or at pop. cap it can be much worse than this. Any tips for decreasing ping? I use an Ethernet cord, nobody else is on my wifi connection, and I make sure I myself turn wifi off on my phone and make sure to close all apps too. Anything else I can do?
Alcast, you have iCue running, thats notoriously the most fps intensive "bloatware". What I do is, save iCUE profile to Corsair products hardware, so it dont have to be running. Also turn the service to manual, when it starts when you start iCue.

Alcast I need some help, ever since I ve installed the game I have this triangles look alike on the ground, always on the direct ground, like where the soil and grass should be or esp where water is,they only dissapear when inside buildings, bridges, everything that covers the ground removes them. I have tried everything, from reducing the game to the lowest quality to the highest, they just don t go away. I have an Intel graphs 5500 and I run an Usb hard drive for ESO, but I don t think that s the issue. Someone said to install older driver for the vid card but can t seem to find one the site, also I don t have a previous version of it as my laptop is pretty new. It really kills the fun of it as I can t see the names of the npcs many times nor the other effects such as the red circles of the bosses or if I play sorc and go into boundless storm I kinda become invisible lol. Would realy appreciate some help, thanks in advance
I'm running a 3700X and 3060ti, but I will still get low fps in some places even with no player models on screen. I get dropping to 40fps or lower at the undaunted camp in Grahtwood, but I don't see why should have that kind of performance staring up at the buildings in Alinor, and dropping all settings (aside from resolution) still doesn't get over 60fps in those scenarios.
I have two screens for my setup. Its easy to just enter the chat and go to my second screen for information. Would you still suggest that ESO is played in fullscreen? i tried it when i first started it, but it took a long time to minimize and maximize the game again
as said in the video, cpu frequency is probably the only thing that matters on your pc. Sure, ryzen offer good value, an i5-6400 might also seems like good value. If all you care about is getting good performance in eso, an i3-8350k is your cheapest option. If you can spend a bit more, an i5-8600k is better value. You just need to make sure you overclock it.
I have an i7-8086K hitting 5GHz and still have issues. ESO just needs Engine updates.. it's that simple. I cap out at 100 FPS in all interior zones and dungeons, but in any major city with other folks around? 40 FPS.
@@Requimatic you need to modify the usersetting file to remove the 100 fps cap. As for cities, try the votan adaptive setting addon. It will ajusts your viewing distance dynamically to keep your fps high. Sure, your view distance in cities will be at minimum but you will have high fps
Temporary Name obviously lol. I just said what needs to be done to have good fps. The fact that you need to do that in the 1st place and that you need to overclock your cpus to get decent fps speaks volume about the game optimization
@@Requimatic I have the same on 1 gig fiber and I've never seen fps lower than 30 and usually rock steady 100, even in Cyrodiil tri-faction events. On dethrone melees of 200 people I see some get disconnected or not able to use skills and I'm just slaughtering nonstop. I'm also in Texas right down the road from the ESO servers
Textures DON'T effect your performance by a lot so lowering them will give you a 1-5 fps gain in most cases. That is because textures use vram. So to have a substantial fps increase, your current textures need to exceed the vram on your GPU and if that happens your fps drops by more than 50% because when the vram is depleted the system turns on the regular ram which is much slower
@@hackerakis98 If that's my case(the vram thing, i guess even though i play with medium textures)?, i can play with 100 fps constant and suddenly drops to 1-16 and turns back to 100, i've played other games like tera, gw2 or the witcher 3 and i didnt have those problems, what can i do?
my laptop is able to run the game in ultra but my laptop gets soo insane loud. can i cap my fps somehow on 60 or something like this? because i don't need 150 when thats the reason for the noise.
Alcast or anyone who knows, I just recently downloaded the game and i’m having a memory leak issue. ESO will start using 80-90% of memory causing the game to skip and crash! I have 32gb ram and the rest of my parts are great so its an eso problem. Is there a fix for the memory leak?
I am very surprised that this decade old game in WQHD highest settings gets my CPU hotter than ANY other AAA title in 4k ever does. Are there any settings that would reduce CPU usage besides toning down from 144 fps?
If there was the possibility of transferring your game from console to PC, I would do it immediately. I have already spent too much time getting all of the attunable stations, as well as every house in the game.
That's exactly why there isn't such a possibility. The console servers would have ended up empty in no time. What would have been cool though is to have connected servers across platforms and be able to play all together!
@@terraincognitagaming Agreed, FXAA *should* have no impact whatsoever. And I'm puzzled that it did. But, after I upgraded my computer I keep it off because, for me, the game looks better without it.
Great game, Nvidia eso settings suggestion: ultra quality 4k resolution. Fps target 60 fps. How i run my game? Low settings. Goes from 120 capped fps to 30 in 15 min playtime.
I had 6700k and gtx 970. With ultra high 1080p I got over 80fps. But I now I have ryzen 2600 and rtx 2060. Even with the minimum settings I got 70fps at 1080p.
all the text ingame is fucked for me since a week, quests say : Unknown Quest, Npcs are called Offline. i did so much research but nothing works. Guess ill just wait for new pc then ill download it again there.
I built my pc specifically for this game...I run everything on max settings and run a steady 80-85 FPS...I never pvp and mostly farm and do dungeons with my crew...I enjoy the scenery of this game ....that’s why I play...
Well, I was kinda already doing this, except lowering quality since I havent done trials and not always in PvP. But c'mon, I'm kinda fucked compared to his system. B150 mobo, i5 6600, GTX 960 4G. 8GB 2133 speed ram, SSD for OS and 7500 RPM HDD for everything else.
