Semen volume decreases with age. Many men 50+ experience a noticeable decline both in volume and trajectory. Although the process of aging is inevitable, there are some things one can do to slow down or even slightly revert this development. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Stefan Buntrock, urologist from Göttingen, explains on UroChannel what is happening in the body and what can be done. Pelvic floor exercises are important as well as regular physical activity and sports, sufficient hydration and a few days of abstinence among others. Finally the results of a scientific study are presented which deal with how women experience the amount of ejaculate when it comes to their own sexual satisfaction and function.

If avoiding BPE is the goal of any prospective treatment or conditioning, then mitigating the Insulin response should be the first step. Learn the difference between food and consumables. If more of your food is whole, you could stave off BPE naturally. High Insulin runs counter to Testosterone and produces derivatives (estrogen-like) that lead to an enlarged prostate over time. Have you ever seen a body builder's gut become distended? It's not because he's getting fat if he's using performance-altering drugs. His organs are growing from the use of steroids. So, in my opinion, it's not a stretch to figure that decades of high insulin could result in prostate growth as an organ response (BPE). Don't be an emotional or comfort eater; eat a variety of more whole foods.

very informative, your first ....shot is accelerated to approx 31 mph (impressive as thats speeding in a school zone up here in Canada) , drink water, dont smoke, relax and or exercise the pelvic floor and women mostly dont care about volume.

Hey Doc, a suggestion for a future topic is ‘what causes increases or fluctuations in PSA measurements’. I once had an unpleasant biopsy because my former urologist could see no reason other than cancer to be the cause for a slight but sudden change in a psa test. Now after my own study of causes of psa and bph changes, I have a list of actions, supplements, and inflammatory foods that can rapidly negatively effect the prostate. Testosterone is not on that list. I would be interested in any information you have on lowering psa.

Hello Doctor, I am an RN and just stumbled on your video while I was browsing medical videos. Do you think that in the future if organ cloning was legal and safe men could simply have their prostate and seminal vesicles replaced with micro surgery? I have always had an interest in future medicine, asking myself what will we be doing in 30 years? I like to think if we invested into medicine as much as we do war the wonders we could achieve would be incredible. Even understanding the brain to cure mental illness and dementia without medications!

Hi Lemon Lime Fizzle Wizzle, thank you for your comment. I am convinced that we can bring about everything we can imagine. It’s just a matter of time. Who would have thought that we would be able to fly and drive in Waggons without horses one day? Tissue engineering is a very interesting field. But progress is slow. In October it will be 20 years since that congress of the SIU where they showed results of bladder regrowth in mice, just from cellular matrix. No groundbreaking progress since then, it appears. So we don’t know what will happen. Maybe it’s not transplantation, it’s rejuvenation. We’ll see. Have a nice evening!

Interesting information. I had a GF a few years ago who asked if there was any way to increase the volume of pre-ejaculate. Tbh I didn't know how to answer other than "I have no idea". Is that even possible? I know it is related to the Cowper's gland (i think that's how it's spelled) but no clue if there's any way to influence how much it makes.

I am 59 and without some meds I can not get a erection thats strong enough to achive penatration. I also have ejaculations that just barely drip out instead of a shot. Very frustrating. Oh to be 20 yrs old again.

Many men 50+ have had laser prostate surgery, so most of the increased semen goes right to the bladder.

what is more important between more semen volume VS low sperm counts for procreation. There are males who have more semen volume but very low sperm counts.

The balance is very important. Too much ejaculate is called "hyperspermia" and can be observed for various reasons. Problem is however, that the sperm get diluted when there is too much ejaculatory fluid. This causes fertility problems.
