I applied this technique because that's what I observed from Timo's shots. Very short stroke but still able to produce more power and spin because of the tight grip during contact. It really showed a lot of difference in my power and spin but somehow it caused stress in my forearms after applying such technique in long hours of practice. Or maybe I was using too much force.

There is forearm stress, training grip strength makes forearm sore. You can loosen grip between shots

One thing I would be curious about is, if the body is there to generate the power isn't the arm still important to create the spin?

It 's same when slash a long wisp.If u dont swing the near wisp first then shake fast when power flow along wisp to last part of wisp, it will not fast and make sound. The center of body like early part of wisp you must move it first then accerelate step by step. ( different angle can make tospin or smash ,both need power from ground and accerelate power when contact)
