Just in case this helps anyone else: the vial and syringe method is easier for me, by FAR. I have dexterity most of the time, but little strength and am hyper mobile in most joints not too badly affected by the other stuff. The autoinjector is likely better for those who have more strength, even if the dexterity in the arms/hands are impacted. Those pills, though. I'm so relieved to avoid them, finally!
@@misslauramorales2389 I figured out that the syringe and vial is wayyyy easier for me. I know that is often NOT the case! I don't have enough strength to effectively operate the autoinjector, despite it being easy to understand. Luckily, I have gotten the syringe/vial method for MTX the last 6 weeks, and have had zero fails. I'm kinda proud of myself for that. Thanks for the questions and advice. I bet it'll help people who *are reading :)
It probably varies with your health care coverage. Mine was $45 for a month supply. I'm scared to use it. I've been self injecting with vial for many years. Not sure why this creeps me out.
@katherinemayo-sorensen4136 thanks for replying. I am 74 and have just been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I am not on anything yet. My rheumatologist said I could wait until I get two "flares". I have been scared of needles my whole life. And now I think I am scared of methotrexate. I feel extremely fortunate to not have gotten RA sooner. Best wishes to you.
