@@ashishstone1 May be , but HHD is now just a data drive. No software is going to run through it, now all the OS and Software runs through internal drive (SSD) 🙂

Hi. If I remove the HDD which is partitioned into 3 drives(having data) from my laptop and put it in a Caddy and use it as an external device, will the three partitions be available with all the data? Will there be any data loss?
Sad part is that every dvd port is sata 2 and sometimes even sata 1 in old laptop, hdd work very slow in slim sata ( dvd port ), even tho if sata 1 or 2 can't saturate sata 3 hdd (most hdd can only reach upto 120 Mbytes average), but slim sata can!, I have installed a good 2.5 inch hdd in slim sata 2 port through caddy and i was only getting 40Mbytes read and 28Mbytes write where i got 100Mbytes read 88Mbytes write in normal sata 2 port , but keep that aside you want, you just want to keep two drives in a laptop? and don't mind about speeds?, caddy is the only option, but i recommend putting hdd in caddy and ssd in main sata 1, 2 or 3 port as it's way better than Sata 2 slim sata port, and that's my point
@@AdityaKantKushwaha bro ssd need to install in hdd slot or in caddy. as 1 tb hdd already installed in main slot I want to install 250 gb ssd for better performance ..
@@thegaminguchiha8570 Are u getting gud speed after installing ssd in main hdd slot?? And what about hdd in caddy ? Is this a gud option installing ssd in main slot and hdd in caddy .. or ssd in caddy and hdd in main slot pls reply
just a question tho, if I change my hard drive, I have to install the drivers again, right? Wont I need to install the drivers again if I transfer my working hdd with the OS installed in it to the cd-rom(then just slide the new SSD on HDD's original place) just like what the guy did in the vid or it'll work just fine?
If you have newer laptop, without cd rom drive, just find out online. There maybe possibility to add a second hdd. It may be not a hdd, but maybe an Msata, an M.2 sata or nvme. May be you already know it by the way, right?
Usually the 2.5' drivebay in Laptop has some Kind of dampening because classic HHD really don't like being moved around or shaken. An SSD doesn't give a shiat in the other hand. These optical disk trays for 2.5" usually don't habe any dampening or give. He says it himself how tight the HDD sits in there. Since the HDD has variable rpm rates today, the HDD also causes Vibrationen that a dampening would disperse. If a HDD is locked in tight like that, it will age, deteriorate and break much faster. Best practice would be to stick the SSD in the tray. Even when in some laptops (mostly old ones), the optical bay is on SATA2 (eg. older MacBook Pros with optical drives).
Trick....you are a genius! Great idea. I want to remove my HDD and put a SDD, and put HDD in the CDROM which is HP's garbage always. Thank you my friend. I will see where to buy this Cuddy.
Excellent! Perfect! Slow and precise English! Please share with your other publisher friends to learn your speaking. I hate passing on very good videos because the English is painful to listen to. Thank you so much, Sir!
I can't find a 9mm caddy only 9.5mm is available people are saying 9.5mm can also be used on G50-70,is it true? Can we use 9.5mm caddy on G50-70?also the link you have given is showing 9.5mm Caddy and there's no 9mm,pls help🙏
Please help us on B50-80 model laptop also Please let me know about the brand of caddy so i can purchase the same because we already checked with universal caddy but the driver does not detect in bios
If you have extra m.2 ssd slot, you can plug a nvme ssd there. All you have to do, Reinstall windows on the new ssd and make the primary HDD secondary.
If i remove the HDD and put that in the dvd place by caddy and put the SSD in the the HDD's place, Can the laptop's motherboard be damaged in the long run?
My old computer is Toshiba, and my new one is Lenovo. Can I take the hard drive from my old pc and put it in my new one? Or does it have to be from the same type of computer?
It's totally upon you Sir, You can replace your HDD with new SSD. And 2nd SSD in Caddy. As you wish, but make sure the OS and applications are installed in SSD.
Very helpful video, however I believe it will have serious impact on the Battery as it has to spin the traditional HDD as well as run the new SSD. Please clarify if you see any such thing practically. Thanks.
It work but when I shutdown the laptop the hard drive in cd room slot takes munites to fully shutdown. But when I take off that cd room slot it shutdown normal.
Sir I have a doubt i am currently using 1tb HDD in my laptop , i have planed to Boost my lap to ssd (120 /240 for OS) as the primary storage and install fresh win 10. I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop,l did this mod but fitted two new ssd a 240 GB as the main C primary drive position. Then a second SSD 480GB in the cd/rw possition. However after loading a new copy of windows 10 to C primary drive,my Laptop does not recognise the second SSD in the cd/rw position. Have l made a mistake? can you fitt two new SSD drives or does one need to be SATA hard drive to be recognised as secondary drive? Any help most appreciated
The ssd slot is around 500 rupees but a 500gb ssd is around 10,000 rupees and we r removing dvd drive. Instead of that keep the dvd drive and buy a 4tb USB western digital hard drive it's around 8000 rupees any how if we want to upgrade to new O.S we use pendrive or DVD mostly so we need USB DVD writer. Western digital USB external hard disk 4tb is excellent it doesn't require external power 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤.
I got an old HP DV6580ee laptop. I replaced the DVD with as 12.7mm IDE to SATA caddy containing SSD . The DVD and caddy have the same size with the same IDE interface. The caddy is not detected. What to do now ?
@@TrickiKnow No, on old Pentium platform at that time, there is no SATA. They still use IDE hard drives. The hot swap drive bay is for DVD drive and also take 2nd HDD caddy. 40-pin IDE HDD. Upgrade from 30 GB to 500 GB is a great experience.
do the dvd hard disk need an operating system wto work or i can format the complete hard disk and use it as EXTERNAL HARD DISK WITHOUT FORMATTING EXPLAIN
9.5 mm will work 👍 the 9mm caddy i used in this video was not good enough in material quality. Then i replaced it with a 9.5mm metallic caddy. The link is in the description.
My MX500 1000GB in the caddy is not being recognized. I removed a smaller SSD from the same caddy which was working. How do I get my Lenovo TP to see it. I just want it for extra storrage
What if you can't boot from the first drive, and then you want to boot from the second drive, does the windows remain the same as the first drive? Or you have to install windows per drive?
I would use one made of metal. I have one years ago from NewmodeUS. Though looks like they aren't in business anymore. At the time, many people recommended them. Now it looks like they all are generic no-name. Anyone know if there are any quality brands? Or are they all just generic no-name caddys?
My interface cd/dvd drive is IDE, I ordered wrong SATA based caddy, so you must tell first the size and second interface, check whether it is SATA based or IDE based cd/dvd drive, now i am in dilemma...

Be very careful if you are attempting this, there are a few things to mention, one - the power requirements for a SSD is much different to a dvd rom. So it might work for a while but if you aren't care full the system on the additional SSD can short out. Plus this video dose not show you how to instal the SSD after putting it in the laptop. I tried this system before, I used the SSD as a carrier for windows and the HDD hard disk for memory. I also had used a Kingston SSD, but my sad shorted out and I lost a lot of documents. So really get more detailed videos about this method and understand it isn't just a quick instal.
m in the same situation, taken my old broken laptop hdd and using like external drive which has OS also. But need to put in my lenovo thinkpad(90gb space), is it possible please guide. Thank u!

Doh......! Over two minutes of my life I'll never get back again. This is about exchanging the DVD drive bay for a harddrive not just installing a second harddrive. Or does the dude here not know that a lot of laptops, such as mine, don't have DVD drives anymore?
