This will show you how to install a wired transformer for the Ring Video Doorbell Pro or your Nest Hello. Make sure that you turn off the breaker to the transformer before you get started on changing the wired transformer. The wired transformer voltage is 24-Volt perfect for the Ring Doorbell or Nest Hello.
Inexpensive and good multimeter for testing transformer: amzn.to/2UhCeR1
Below are a few transformers that will work with you Ring Doorbell Pro or Nest Hello. We have tested all three of them with Ring Pro and Nest Hello.
The 16v 30va is the bare minimum that you could use on a nest Hello or Ring Video Doorbell Pro but I recommend you go with a higher voltage. The 16v 30va has been hit or miss for some people, it really depends on your doorbell itself.
16v 30va: amzn.to/2XI0yhc
24v 40va: amzn.to/2EwCR2m
8V 16V 24V 30W amzn.to/2VrKi1C Best transformer options multi-output.

Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. ru-vid.comUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

I have the ring doorbell pro and a 24v transformer. Do I have to use the pro power kit v2 they supplied? I don't want the mechanical chime to ring. Do I do the bypass method with the power kit v2 or just leave the power kit out?

What if i have the other one you showed without the caseing with the grounding screw??? Do i ground it and how?

cant skip all those steps and just get a plug in 24V transformer. My existing wires for my doorbell had no power and I couldn't find the transformer so I gave up on that and just installed a plug in one. It was much easier to do that than screwing with an electrical box.

When upgrading from a 10v to 24v transformer, should I be concerned about the higher voltage transformer with the existing wiring?, what about the chime?

No.. the one red, one white solid wires used from transformer location to the doorbell are already overkill.. The existing 'chime' will be bypassed at that unit.. plenty of other vids on this exact subject.

You left out a lot of info , especially on which part of the multi transformer do you hook to the screws or how it gets hook up to the doorbell

Great video!! I have a 16v 10 amp transformer. We have a Ring Pro, going to a 24v from 16v is ok? What amp rating with the 24v? Thank you so much!!

Thank you for watching! Either a 16V 30va or a 24V 20va transformer should work for you.

I replaced my transformer with a 16V 30A. Now I have a buzz on my doorbell and when you press the doorbell it won't ring the mechanical chime and we have the buzzing. I've ordered the 25ohm 50W resistor to see if that will solve the problem.
@sellgooddeals-DIY
@sellgooddeals-DIY 5 лет назад
@@supercharged00gtpSorry to hear that. Try turning the breaker off to the transformer. Wait 45 seconds then turn it back on but don't hit the button. Is the buzzing gone? Do you have the power kit hooked up to the chime? If you have 30 minutes it would be interesting to see what would happen if you remove the two wires from the Ring Doorbell pro and touch them together to see if the chime sounds. Also, If you have any extra wire lying around you could unhook the wires from the transformer. Then hook the Ring pro directly to the transformer and see if that works. It kind of seems like something else might be going on as well.

@@sellgooddeals-DIY We pulled the box, it's the Ring 2 not the Pro. I have a resistor coming for it tomorrow to see if that helps. I'll also try hitting to identify the breaker, the doorbell is wired via the same wiring as our power supply to the smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. It was mounted to the box my basement detector is mounted from. I didn't turn the Power off to avoid the beeping from the detectors resetting.

Do you suggest 24 volt for 2 video doorbells
@jamesbeard4527
@jamesbeard4527 2 года назад
If you have two Ring Pro doorbells you will need a 24 volt, 40 amp transformer, otherwise the doorbell chime will ring by itself, or at least mine did, and I am waiting on my new transformer to replace the 24 volt, 20 amp one I have (which works fine for ONE Ring Pro).

should all wires be in a junction box for safety?
@tonyhwang3888
@tonyhwang3888 3 года назад
It can be mounted on the side wall of breaker panel too. Does not have to be in an enclosed junction box. Low voltage AC current is not much dangerous.

My current transformer is connected to the circuit breaker. It has 2 black wires going to the circuit breaker. I dont know where the new transformer black and the white wire will go. transformer
@sellgooddeals-DIY
@sellgooddeals-DIY 5 лет назад
Is your transformer located on the circuit breaker box? Are you saying that it is hooked up to two breakers or just one. If it is hooked up to two breakers it could be 240Volt and not 120V. Look on the outside of your transformer and it should say on the transformer what the input voltage is rated at.

@@sellgooddeals-DIY That is why everyone should own a simple multimeter. I know some transformers have black wires instead of black and white.

@sellgooddeals-DIY
@sellgooddeals-DIY 4 года назад
It could be behind the chime or connected to a junction box that has a light fixture on it. It depends on how old your house is and what part of the country it is located. If you look at your chime and can see blue box behind it that is where I would start. Check out your electrical panel and see if it is mounted there. If you have a utility room that is also a good place to look.

I've seen them in older houses mounted in the central heater cabinet, other houses in the nearest coat closet in the doorbell vicinity.
