Good video. One correction, dont cut the tab off at the end of the T-bar, fold it 90 degrees and use a self tapping screw thru the tab and into the L-channel. Then you dont need rivets, and it looks slightly cleaner.
Thanks for the tip. I'd go so far as to say it makes it look professional. I cringed when I saw the way the rivet gun scratch up the L channel. My OCD would never have let that pass.
@@samsamson3623 I don't install ceiling tiles, but I do alot of re-work, adding light fixtures etc. So It wouldn't be nearly as good a video as this one.
This was actually a great video, I’m a very handy person, never put up a drop ceiling because I personally do not like the look , however for a basement it makes perfect sense due to plumbing etc. Justin good job, I would Also be interested in hearing more about your flip projects on how you pick them and what drives you from the financial perspective meaning what are you looking at when u purchase properties

Yes, you just use toggle bolts to attach the wires. You could also invest in ceiling tiles with higher sound absorption ratings and achieve similar results without the extra work
So do you do the full pieces 1st before installing the cut border pieces? This is what i'm struggling with lol. In my mind i would think you'd want to do the border 1st and work in 1 direction. Is the way im thinking wrong? Great video thanks
You don't even need to rivet the tees. If you cut the tees right and tie wire the main you start with and the tees keeping it square every 8ft to the drywall the ceiling won't move and everything will stay square with the tile.
Yes it would, but the material is very soft, which would allow you to press the tile into the rivet to create a groove so it doesnt stick up at all. Another option someone else mentioned is to not cut off the tab, but rather use a screw into the tab to secure the channel to the wall, then you dont have to use a rivet at all and it is a much cleaner look. 2 1/8" from ceiling height to top of the bulb on the grid. Typically, just go 3 inches to make it a little easier on yourself unless it's an already low ceiling
Harbor freight has a 360 degree laser level for 99$ then just cut a peice of wall angle and screw it to floor joist studs in middle of room attach laser level to the wall angle its magnetic then return that laser level after your done lol
